    Hi Darren! The L21B is a must have model for any flashlight enthusiast. I have the SFT40 version and it's throwing characteristics are amazing for such a lightweight light. I like the area you choose to do the beam shot in this video, it was nice and dark! Thanks again for the nice review!

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Gus, yeah I can't believe I missed out on this one for so long. But my preference is for smaller lights I can carry around. Found a better location to do beam shots, especially after the... events of last time 😁

      @@DarrenYeoYT That's cool to have found a dark spot to video and not be harrassed by law enforcement, and I'm being mild calling them that.👍

    I dropped my L21B on a footpath and it didn't break. 🤣 It landed on the head. Definitely a good lightweight thrower!

    Pound for Pound, King of the throwers! Not too keen on LEP. L8 is a monster but the size, price, and efficiency - put me off!

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, agree! And 1/3 of the price of an LEP too. There's no fan on the L8?

    • @polymathematics5837
      @polymathematics5837 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree, I'm not too keen on LEPs either. I can't find myself needing a flashlight that projects a bright pencil thin beam so far that anything I'd be interested in viewing would be the size of a dot. The L21B with a SFT40 is my version of an ideal thrower. I own a Convoy 3X18A with a SBT 90.2 led, which is a thrower with a larger hotspot than the L21B, but in all honesty, it will be collecting dust, I like the L21B much more due to it's light weight and equivalent throwing abilities.

  • @ExtremeSquared

    I still like the CSLNM1 version, on the 50% max setting. Tighter beam / more efficient throw means it will just run and run on one cell, and without too much heat. The most interesting places to use a high-throw flashlight are places without electricity. And maybe the biggest deal is how light the L21B is. It will always get thrown in a pack.

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  ปีที่แล้ว

      In pitch black areas, this thing is incredible. I try to find darker areas but there's always some stray, ambient light around where I take these shots. I think the NM1 version runs @3A which is very efficient.

    Wow, that's good. I don't think I could ever get over that green though.. Osram W1 if you need a thrower that isn't green. But I'd go for an sst20 or some such because I'm a CRI junkie.

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it's not the nicest colour, but great for visibility if that's your goal. For everyday use, I wouldn't recommend this LED. You can get different LEDs in this host though. SFT40 for example.

      I have a DM11 from Hank with green light. After a while your eyes adapt and all you see is white light. Strange but true. The contrast is much better than in the case of "classic white light" 😅

    That's just great. Now that I've already gotten my TD01c and am thinking of the Convoy L21B with the Luminus SFT40, someone just had to dazzle me with the CLSLPM1.F1 green emitter! 🔦😭 💸💰💸
    Thanks for comparing against the Nextorch LEP. I can see how an LEP would be useful as a pointing tool at night (so does any green laser), but the LEP's role is too specialized. The L21B with the SFT40 would be a more useful outdoor torch, in my opinion. Say Darren, you don't happen to have an L21B with a non-green LED, do you? 🤔

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do! It has a XHP70.3HI inside. And is insanely bright/throwy. Would recommend :) on the lower modes, it's very efficient.

    The second stepdown shows there's a thermal limit, otherwise it would have lasted another 2 minutes. The downside, as I've mentioned before, is that no matter how hot it gets it won't stepdown below 40%/High. On this model it's not an issue, but the high lumen and small compact models will see some extreme temps. I'll discuss with Simon a second temp limit that steps it down to 10%/Med at 60°C.
    There's a NTC thermistor on the driver that can be removed to disable the thermal limit. I personally love full manual control, auto is for pussies lol just kidding.

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol. I think this host can handle the extra heat pretty well. So you remove the thermal limit on your ones? :D Heard that the L21A can heatsink better? The 8A M21B get crazy hot after a few minutes. I don't think it actually steps down.
