Excellent weather spotting and making the most of it as we were too in Switzerland and Germany! So glad your jaw dropping priced campsite was worth it, ours wasn't on Lake Konstanz. We had a good time but that was nothing to do with the campsite. Same with seasons there, high season starts at whit week and continues through June/July and August plus few ACSI sites anyway. We didn't realise and hadn't booked but for somewhere like Lake Bled we definitely would, thanks for the heads up! Another one who swims in the rain esp if warm. Really loving this trip, vicariously.
Thank you - we cant get over how much campsite prices fluctuate and actually just how expensive they are in general now! We have tried to use as many ACSI sites as possible which does take us to some different places. In Austria at the moment we have ended up in a little ski resort with a fab site for €27 a night - it has a pool and a natural swimming lake. Your photos of some of the places you have been look amazing. We got caught with the weather on Lago di Braies with the most amazing thunder and lightening storm that bought down loads of trees on the paths around the lake 😬
OK...I'm just starting the vid and just have to say that as this trip goes along, Jackie's hair becomes even more flowy and full-on early retirement. Brilliant!
@lyndalayland1438 that’s where we were headed after Bled but the most torrential weather was forecast for 3 days so we will save it for next time 🚐 that’s twice we have been foiled as last time the campsites were both full 😢
I would have gone for a swim in the lake in the rain too🙂 The walk to the view point above the campsite was worth the effort. Brilliant view. Thanks for the wonderful video, looking forward to the next one, cheers ❤️🚐xx
It was far too tempting and actually really good fun 🤩 it’s a pretty place to be 🚐 the next video is based around probably my favourite part of Europe in the Triglav National Park which has the most beautiful rivers and lakes x
Loved the video guys. You two are so natural with your presentation and always give great advice and tips. Lake Bled is definitely on our list for sure. Triglav looks beautiful so can’t wait for that video. Keep safe. Irvine & Karen.
Lake Bled was pretty and a nice place to visit but very busy with tourists of all nationalities. The Triglav was sensational in every way! The rivers and lakes are stunning and the hikes plentiful 🚐
We love a bit of a scramble 🧗 although we did come across a hike up to a waterfall in the Triglav that tested my head for heights 😬 Slovenia is wonderful 🚐
Another great vid. Lake Bled is lovely, we were there last year, EDIT it was actually 2022, and had a fantastic time but we missed the walk at the back of the campsite - next time. Did you go out to the island? Geoff
Lake Bled was really pretty and the island and church just draw you in to take so many photos from different angles. It changed so much with the light conditions! We didn’t get out to the island - another lake we will visit next time is Bohinj. The weather forecast for the 3 next days was dire and the campsites about £45 a night so we hunkered down somewhere cheaper in the Triglav national park 🏞️
As always you both just embrace the weather and find some solitude and stunning spots wherever you go! You're selling the trip well. Hope the rest of your travels are smooth.
We have learnt over the years that it can’t rain forever and we are in a beautiful place - so just get out when we can. We have really enjoyed the trip so far and keep discovering more places to revisit one day 🚐
@@earlyretirementwanderlust Living in Ireland we have the same mindset though it can be a bit weary!! Off on our 3 week adventure from Belfast to Bergen in early July once term finishes here so we have packed the waterproofs too!
🤣 thank you - vanlife is so easy and gives us the freedom to find all those hidden and beautiful places 🚐 Slovenia is wonderful and got even better in the national park which was stunning 🥾⛰️🌧️ even in the rain and mist!
@@earlyretirementwanderlust I can only speak for myself, but you guys make it look easy, when the reality is that is most certainly not easy. Again thank you both for sharing your journey and showing what can be achieved with courage, determination and downsizing!
Hi both Out of interest, what do you do with your documents and passports when you are out for the day? And also, what videos editing software do you use at home and when travelling? Great videos of this trip, looks like you are having a great time. David
Hi we have a small safe in the van and leave them in there. Richard uses apple iMovie to do all the editing of his MacBook both at home and on the road We film most of the videos and all photos on our iPhone 11 Pros which sync well into iMovie. We have had a great time and have enjoyed the contrast of the Croatian coast chilling out and hiking in the high dolomite mountains 🏔️ Hope this has helped x
Yes it has helped, thanks. I'm an avid Windows and Android device fan, any apple brings me out in a cold sweat 😰 tbh apple and android are very much like marmite, love it or hate it. Guess ill stick with davinci resolve and cap cut. Thanks for getting back to me 😊
@akelabird we only have apple as my schools IT system was all apple and I kept getting the files wrong to teach and load up on the school system 🤣🤣 I also had to teach iMovies 😊 on our trip we have been asked to take a lot of photos at view points and some of the cameras on the Samsung phones particularly are amazing!!

🤣 it takes some taming! I am more concerned about how grey it is going 😂
Slovenia looked stunning - I can see why it was a bucket list destination
The best of Slovenia is definitely still to come. The Triglav national park and Soca river valley 🚐
@@earlyretirementwanderlustLake Bohinj , not too far from .bled us equally lovely and much quieter.

Very brave! We stopped at Slovenia for a day and now I wish we had gone to lake bled. To be honest everywhere looks amazing on your travels 😊
Thank you. We ended up spending 10 days in Slovenia 🇸🇮

Also the Vntgar gorge is spectacular, its only 4 k from Bled. Enjoy
Absolutely loved the ducklings on the lily pads! Thanks for making us even more determined to go back to Slovenia😊
They were so wonderful to watch just hopping around ♥️ Slovenia was everything and more than we remembered. We spent 10 nights there in the end 🚐
At some point the phrase ‘the life of Riley’ will need changing to ‘The life of Richard & Jackie!’
