Such a beautiful tribute to deceased. Amazing stories told, and treated respectfully. Cemetaries are really a garden of stories, memories, and histories of life lived, gone but not forgotten.

When I need to humble myself, I will find a cemetery and talk a walk through it. As I look at the names and dates on the headstones I soon realize how fortunate I am to have the life that I have, and how fortunate I am. I also realize how selfish I can be, but to also be thankful for the things that I always take for granted. Having watched all three parts of your wonderful series of videos on Calvary Cemetery, I am reminded once again just how precious life is. Calvary Cemetery has always been the one that I have wanted to visit least in Los Angeles, but if I ever make it there, it will definitely be added to my list. Thank you for such a thoughtful, well done series.

19:07 My great grandparents and their youngest son are buried here. Frank Duffy was only 19 when he was shot through the heart in Vietnam. He was my great uncle. His body was returned to his native soil of Los Angeles for burial, and upon their deaths, my great grandparents were buried beside him. His oldest sister was my grandmother, and my mother has never forgotten her favorite uncle.
On a side note, I just wanted to tell you how much your content means to me on a personal level. I’m a fourth/fifth generation Angeleno, and I have spent many hours exploring our city’s cemeteries. I have personal connections to quite a few of the ones you’ve featured, including Angelus Rosedale, Mountain View, and, of course, Calvary. (My personal favorite is Inglewood Park though, and that’s where my great grandparents on my dad’s side are interred) I currently live far away and miss Los Angeles horribly, but through your videos I feel like I get to go home for an hour or so. Thank you for that. Until I can wander between the stones again myself, I’m glad you can do it for me.
(Also, side note side note, GOD I miss In-N-Out. I haven’t had a double double animal style with cheese in over a year. I might cry when I finally taste one again. 😂)

@@graveexplorations I'm a tad late to the show as I only came across your absolutely enthralling site a few days ago. Let me tell you this though, you my friend could talk about drying paint and make it a wonderful, exciting, and enriching experience. Excellent documentary! There was so much in this. I can certainly tell you put in a lot of time and research. I love all the architecture and art that's in the cemetery. It's always interesting to hear you tell the stories of those that have walked this earth. I love the variety that you had in this one.

    Greetings from Manchester UK!
Thank you very much for taking time not only to tell the stories of the faithful departed souls but also to take us around the breathtaking beauty of the art and architecture of the graves and mausoleum itself, which, on another channel touring burial sites, those details are only briefly explained.
The sculpture of the dead nun covered with roses, over the resting place of the Carmelites of the Sacred Heart, depicts that of a very well-known Carmelite sister. She was made Doctor of the Church by the pope and is known in the Catholic Church as 'The Little Flower', Saint Therese of Lisieux.
It was from a photograph taken of her shortly after her death when she was laid out in repose before her Requiem Mass and burial. She predicted that her body would decompose and when she was exhumed as part of the cause for sainthood, only her bones remained. Those same bones have travelled around the world for the faithful to venerate; even a First Class Relic of Saint Therese was taken onto one of the Space Shuttle's voyages into space.
The sculpture memorial faithfully replicates that of a similar work that is in Lisieux, Normandy, France itself.

Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! Such a beautiful, compassionate treatment of those who have served as religious in the Catholic Faith and of those who lived lives that nurtured others for the good through their entertainment skills, financial prowess, and philanthropic gifts. I was deeply saddened when the death of the son of Lou Costello was shared but so glad that he was able to turn that tragedy into gifts of life betterment for many underprivileged children. And, that feature about the dedication of the Lincoln Memorial. To see the film showing actual footage of Lincoln's son was awesome!! There are so many facets of your video that make viewing exciting, interesting, and even somewhat horrifying (lives and deaths of underworld characters.) Thank you for ALL the research done to provide another riveting hour spent with you in Calvary Cemetary. I have watched all three episodes and looking forward to watching others. Thank you!

Calvary is a beautiful cemetery with such rich history. I love how you put it : Some were aware that they were making history, but most ,simply got into Historys way. Thanks so much for your videos and the respect that you always show to all the individuals who have been laid to rest here. So many lives, so many stories of lives once lived, which are now only, whispers in the wind.

Thank you my Grand parents are buried in Calvary.I've always found the place peaceful and always strolled the cemetery wondering about the people that are buried there.

It is like walking through old German cemeteries. My father did a lot of genealogy research when we were stationed in Germany. We went to a hundred cemeteries in Europe. We were glad that they had playgrounds in them.

My mom, aunts, grandmother , and a few more are burried there. My mom grew up across the street in the 30s and they would play in the cemetery. So many more notable people are there. Thanks for the history.
