If you’d known about her then you probably would have traveled too.
She changed her performance from the rehearsal. We know that because the orchestral leaders head went back in surprise, later he showed respect by inviting the band to give her a standing ovation.
She doesn’t sing in different genres. She inhabits genres with every part of her performances, and today we get soul that James Brown himself would love. The devastating combination of her unique musical arranging, her voice, and her effortless delivery is so evident on this amazing cover. Angelina Jordan: the best singer I’ve ever heard, and she’s the best in many different genres and styles. How is that possible?

Absolutely stunning performance of this song, suits the female voice even better, but to be sung by a 12 year old is beyond comprehension. This is my favourite rendition of this song, and that mean a lot, given the whole world has attempted to cover it..... Angelina is simply a gift to this world.
She takes this James Brown classic into the stratosphere & beyond. And she hits those 'super high' notes with ease. She should sing this at The Apollo Theater in New York, for she would get a standing ovation from the toughest 'Black Soul' critics on the planet.
This song was most certainly a standout performance! It's like there is a contest going on between the first clarinet and Angelina towards the end - I think we can safely say that Angelina won! The surprised look on Angelina's face as the orchestra gave standing ovation, she simply gave an extra curtsy, wondering what all the fuss was about!
It's so good! The spirit of James Brown was so strong, I was waiting for some attendants to throw a cape around her shoulders and assist her off the stage.

In addition to this concert being the introduction to her new album, it was also the celebration of the 200th Anniversary of the Staff Band of the Norwegian Armed Forces. They had played with and worked with Angelina for a long time prior to her moving to LA. They had a very close and special working relationship. Angelina had been in the US for several months. So, this was one more chance for them to be together... The Norwegian Prime Minister was in attendance. Angelina met with her and signed her book and CD after the concert. It was a special day for everyone. 👣💕
Yes, she is on fire here...and the that cute curtsy at the end makes for such an endearing contrast. It brings back childhood memories from Scandinavia, when girls curtsied and boys took a bow and snapped their heels in greeting.
