I really appreciate your reviews. You have a thorough, thoughtful and professional way about you. I just bought the nee one and opened it today. It does feel darker and thinner, smokier in some way but still quite good. I love it its a more mature take.

I personally wouldn't bother with the new I just wasted £80 for basically absolutely no fragrance this isn't a fake bottle, it was bought from Allbeauty. I have requested to
return it as basically it may as well be water in the bottle. I am waiting to hear back from them. 😔😔
Thank you for the thorough review, Dacob! 😊 I remember buying my first bottle of Hypnotic Poison in 2001, which was the original 1998 formulation. I was drawn to its hypnotizing bitterness, which was my favorite aspect of the fragrance. It transported me to another world every time I smelled it. Truly magical! I have a bottle of the current formulation and although it is nice, I reeeally miss the bitterness of the original.

@@essence-tiallydacob9611 I had the original formula for years. It was my go to winter sent. Back in the day some people claimed it smelled like black licorice. I never smelled black licorice though I could understand why some people did. I just ran out of the original. Decided to buy a new bottle from Macy's to make sure it was authentic Dior. I feel like I just wasted $80 . I hate the new version. It's got a Play-Doh smell I can't ignore. That's when I came across your video. I didn't know they changed the formula and I'm now upset lol. I hope they bring back the original. Does the 2015 bottle have a black licorice kind of smell? If so it may be closer to the original.
Im new to hypnotic poison and im so curious to smell the older versions but this one i LOVEEE, i get so many compliments on it, and at first i wasnt sure about it but when the compliments started rolling in and i started to get a better idea of it as i wore it i started to fall inlove with it. To my nose is smells like a warm cashmere scarf, shes a quiet confidence. Lovely review I love your explanation

Sweetie hope you're feeling well and thank you for sharing this gem. You got me the moment you compared this 2021 version with the og of the 90s. Got to smell it. I remember vividly the year it was released. I had a friend who work for Dior and she always was kind and generous by giving me lots os samples of perfumes and testers. She got me so many samples of Hypnotic Poison and even a mini splash bottle. Needless to say I used it all 😭 now I can only dream of that sent. But I must try this last interaction of Demachy... Thank you again and a very big hug full of peace and healing. 🤗❤️

Dua has a dupe birthday g the original formula from the 90s and it’s spot on . It’s called hypnotizing venom
I hate reformulations but I couldn't resist, I'm picking up a new bottle today but a small one just to test it out properly. I've loved this since 2000. I hope Kurdjian tweeks it too, he's very good at what he does!

I've tested the newer version at the airport on a tester strip, after days it still smelled on my bag and on the paper it self, very smooth, well blended and vanillic at the dry down, loved it!

When I smelt the current Hypnotic Poison yesterday, I told all my friends how surprised I was and that I found it to be a "dry gourmand." Now seeing your review where we agree verbatim, I'm glad I'm not the only one! I think it is also closer to Ménardo's style again because she is never one to over indulge in any facet, her works are so cohesive and seamless. It would be really interesting to hear your thoughts on two other creations from her, Bulgari Black (1998) for that rubbery vanilla (that is very close to powdered latex gloves for me) and also Body Kouros' benzoin+eucalyptus+incense accord which doesn't seem to have been copied since and is still in production. Not a true flanker of Kouros but not a dull masculine either.
It is a very different version but i really like the reformulation, too! It also has a great performance.

I am craving 1985 Poison - My father purchased Poison for my Mother that year and sadly in 1989 they divorced BUT my mother give me her entire fragrance collection as she wanted no memory associated w/ a traumatic time in her life. I revisit that bottle just to hold it's sculpture and inhale that intoxication that made it so enticing and poisonous...Love this review Dacob

Yes I really like it! I just got it in mail today! So I’m going to let it sit for a little while before I wear it. I just tested it on my hand. But I like it. Hopefully it has good lasting power.

I’m just collecting all the different bottles but the new version I have 3 bottles love the red even on the roller pearl it’s so light and soft probably lost the milky quality all 3 of my bottles seem to smell different

I first bought Hypnotic Poison Eau the Toilette in 2018 in 30ml (1oz) and the bottle was almost completly opaque. I got a new one from Sephora in 50ml this year (17131, made in 2021) and It's now almost transperant in comparisson. Not at al as luxurious and elegant but rather cheap and dull looking.
Interesting. My latest batch is nice and shows a thick colored bottle.
I bought it first time for myself a month ago because this is my favortie perfume ever but as a guy i was never confident enough to wear it. I love it, and it last forever!

Whaaaaat? Hypnotique is allll about the sweet bitter almond. So glad I still have a 2015 bottle. Maybe they changed the gold to silver so people can tell the two apart.
I have 2 older bottles, the ones with the sprayer part in red and a newer one with gold.

the best version of hypnotic poison is the one that came in a solid maroon bottle with a rubbery coating with "Christian Dior" labels on the side of the bottle.
Thats the first 90’s release.
oh phew just saw this now was about to blind buy it (has a discount code), would've liked a play-dough/rootbeer note. Not too sure about tobacco/gasoline though. probably not the cosy scent anymore. Maybe the retailer I was about to purchase from still has the old formula lying around. I like the new bottle design though, the red is more virbrant and I like the ombre effect.

Finally received my vintage bottle for comparison! Comparing Modern (Jan 2021) to Vintage (2004) and I actually prefer the modern formulation! Believe it or not, I think it's because I prefer their current vanilla formulation. I can tell its this note, because my vintage Dior Addict (2002) has an accord that smells nearly IDENTICAL to one in my vintage Hypnotic Poison. What do they have in common? Vanilla. From what I can tell, the Vintage is more of a pleasant textural experience whereas the Modern is attempting to punch you in the face with the fragrance. There are a lot of other subtleties that I wrote in my Fragrantica review, but I think it's highly personalized which one you will prefer. I appreciate them both, as they do have the same foundation, but I find the Modern better suits my personality and I actually appreciate the obnoxiousness of it compared to elegance of the Vintage.

@@user-ps5sp6zo3l I originally bought it from Mercari and ended up reselling it. Not sure if similar bottles might be floating around somewhere. I had my setting configured to notify me immediately when a similar fragrance entered the market.
Maybe the new bottle needs to sit a month or so to get a bit thicker and richer?

I just bought a bottle last week and thought I was going crazy cause It really is weak. I smelled alcohol more than the perfume
Buy one of those Molecule 1 or Molecule 2 Perfumes and spray first, they intensify fragrances.

I tested it again and the dry down stayed in my coat for a long time and it was really nice I love the smell of it I think on my skin it doesn’t last as long

Literally when I first noticed this fragrance fully I told my guy "imagine a Black leather coated woman on a motorcycle" that smell of the woodsy leathery vanilla... and almost a scotchsmoke quality to it... omg im dead
The new formulation doesn’t smell leathery or smokey on me at all. It’s all almond.
Interesting. The almond kicks in for me much later :)
