I like these questions, Answer for 1. this remote is using RF signal with USB dongle that comes with this remote will work, so if your box is totaly off there is no power to the box. this remote will not help you turn it on. but if is sleeping like the box is on and no touch the remote will work quickly. Answer 2. you need to press the Arrow to make it go to Air mouse mode. Answer 3. The remote has a internal battery you need charge it, but the charging depending how much you are using it. I have used it none stop and charged it maybe after 40 days or so. once for maybe 10 minutes.

Symptoms on my ancient W1 Wechip were very similar when it started to deteriorate, and to top it up finally usb port was so iffy that I had to prop the cable with rubberbands and popsicle sticks to keep it charging. Eventually it got left in drawer and I totally forgot it. The main reason for this ramble comes next, I happenend to check the drawer couple of months ago and the remote had prepared itself for the battery change. The remote side is in three parts, panel at bottom and top and the button assembly in the middle. The bottom panel had popped up a bit skewed and was bending the button panel also, I pried the remote open along the seam, and had a sort of small cold sweat moment. The battery is JS403030, small, square LiIon 3.7V, thickness probably about 2 to 3 mm, it was ballooned to a 1,2 cm thick bubble. So, thank god these seem to have some sort of safety standards on malfunctions, but still a bit unpleasant surprize find inside my house. Two wires, soldered to the board, about 10€ + shipp. no matter which seller. W3 probably has different battery but I doubt it is with a connector or cheaper, so with price ranges around 20-25 €/$ I would not recommend trying to resuscitate a worn out remote with a new battery. It hurts my heart too to not repair stuff, but do calculate some value for your time too and consider that there might be something else that needs to be repaired or replaced.

@DavidKenett alot of buttons are not going to work. This remote is designed for an Android box called tanggula. They do not use Android tvos. Please don't mix up and make up stuff you don't know.

Am I the only one that when you right click (menu button) in Windows it doesn't right click where the cursor is? Is there something else I can do? This is a pretty big drawback will have to send it back otherwise. Not really a fan of the full stop being an fn key either what a crazy idea. Had a rii air mouse which I like better but it broke. Might have to just buy another. Shame cos this looked good and is usb c but that right click is a massive fail.

@vicentepallamare2608 if box is enabled for voice the remote will work, the apps your naming either owned by Google or must comply and license to make voice search work. Each app have selection of words, that has to be created by app creators which will take years or get mostly made words and design the app around it. If you have app it won't just work because you want so. There is alot of laws have to be passed.
That means those boxes need to have drivers for 2.4ghz dongles to support it. You need to talk to your box creator and say need help this remote working. Maybe they are using hacked TV Version of OS and they stripped down the OS.

This is nice when you're sitting away from your desk, a remote is far better to control media than having to drag the keyboard with you, say, to your bed.
Not the perfect remote for PC and unfortunately I can't find one satisfying my needs especially with how most aren't designed mainly for PCs and it's understandable, but it's a nice elegant looking remote nonetheless, the keyboard on the back can probably make up for the many keys I want if I decide to go for it.

@@xctechs Oh, that's not important for media control but the front buttons are basic and not enough for my needs, the keyboard in the back can make up for the missing functions I'd want in a remote for media purposes. Now I found 2 remotes made solely for Windows with keyboards on the back as well, so better than this one but aren't geared towards media and have small Play/Pause button which I don't like. My current one is an old remote made for Windows Media Center which I never used, with no keyboard on the back and with a terrible mouse and with only IR tech forcing me to point it towards its receiver to work which can be annoying and is not ideal at all but the worst part is that it's dying after years of usage making me to look for a new one. Sadly I can't find a good one to the point I'm left wanting to design one myself lol
@illogical1421 I know how this remote works, again, you are assuming. These are specific remotes desigs with programs. What you're saying is how you want it. It doesn't work like that.

@xctechs mine worked great for about 2 weeks before the mouse pointer started messing about. Also its a dumb design since the IR is on the top so when you use the keyboard with both hands you block it

will not work for your TCL, you need to get a TCL remote.

it comes with a USB dongle which uses RF to communicate between dongle and Remote. and no drop out unless you are too far.
I bought this remote to work with my Tanggula X5 box. Everything works with the dongle but the power button. Do you know if/how I can make the power button turn the Tanggula box on and off?

Do you know what might be wrong with the W3 as i seem to only get it to respond to google not and of the programs on the tanggula X5?
The app still needs alot of work, and yes even with mine most of the time is hit and miss.
Can you use the voice eg in TH-cam...not just throguh goofle assist?
If your box is setup for google assistance then the remote will work with TH-cam which dose require Google assistance to understand your commands.

z10 i can not find a original remote, and all the knockoffs i see bad reviews under it.
