    I closed HISAT LTD 2021, but I'll still answer questions on satellite TV and TVBoxes
    This video shows you how to install a motorised satellite TV system using USALS - the Copyright of the video belongs to my company HISAT Ltd, and it's intended to help any able-bodied novice to DIY install a motorised satellite TV system GbSat and HISAT are both my companies this Video was made in the year 2000, and we now use and recommend the CaP F connectors (see our other video on using those connectors) www.hisat.com for more details - The majority of adverts for USALS Motors on auction sites are for Chinese copies of this motor they seem attractive often they are sold for 1/2 the price of the STAB-USALS Rotorsat - but beware - the cost of installing a fake USALS motor is the same but because they are nowhere near as durable you'll have to replace it after a little over a year by Contrast I sold one of the original STAB motors to a Client on 27th January 2000 in February 2015 this client called me to buy a replacement - a storm had blown it down! Now the USALS motor comes with a 3-year warranty from HISAT, but this true account tells you why it's worth paying extra for a genuine STAB-USALS Rotorsat ONLY HISAT sell these original rotors in the UK and everyone else selling them is buying them from HISAT - this said as I wrote above many sellers claim they are selling a USALS rotor when in fact they are selling a fake Chinese rotor since I made the video SMARTPHONES now have free Apps to help you find south - see my video on CaP Cut and Push connectors

    That was a good example of how it should be done and not much different if put up on a pole cemented in the ground either. That will be the easy part since the adjustments after the installation will take up most of your time.

    You also make no mention of mistracking to the east or west due to incorrect settings. This is a nightmare for first timers and I think should be mentioned.
    It took me ages the first time I insatlled a motorised setup and I must admit a video such as this would have helped .. Thank you..

    Hello i just replaced my faulty moteck with the stab hh120 and im having some issues with it. For instance the signal sometimes fluctuates for example watching astra 19.2 - ZDF signal is 96% then it starts to suddenly fluctuate to 80.70,60.. and 0, the signal then comes back a few seconds later channel works fine with occassional signal loses. This happens everytime i change the position. I've never had these issues with my previous one.

    • @tony.hiscox
      @tony.hiscox  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      onky on this channel or on other channels? when it comes to the signal from the LNB this is passed through the STAB Rotorsat - the signal loss may be due to water ingression in the cable - I assume nothing is coming between the satellite and the dish surface ( the branch of a tree blowing in from of the satellite would cause signal attenuation but these issues would effect all frquencies on the same satellite to some effect
      I would definitely recheck the connections maybe remake the connections if they are old then if the LNB is old replace it (they are not much money any more I have new LNB's for less than £2 !)

    it's taken 10 years for anyone to notice that :) although to be fair at the point when you need this information in the installation we do have it the right way around :) - that dish is not "still up" because we extended the garage which is out of site in most of the video but it never had a problem being a) a well built wall and b) relatively sheltered location at near ground level

    I am still confused..as ever. When we put the clocks forward to BST that makes our clocks one hour in front of GMT therefore at 12 noon BST its really only 11am gmt. That to my mind makes Hereford (about 120mls west of London ) about 8 minutes later than London ..so South is 1pm Bst plus 8 minutes. My real problem is Technomate have a marker called Elevation. Obviously that needs to be set to Elevation not some other mystical figure. Can someone please enlighten me.

    Geostationary satellites are so called because they are circumventing the Planet over the equator - when we made the video - we did so to help our clients most of whom were local to us (UK) - you are in the southern Hemisphere of the planet so of course the satellites are North (for you)
    kind regards (Tony Hiscox)

    even I'm tired of it now - but the video was made 10+ years ago we spent some time, effort and money making it, and a friend was involved in the band that made the music, ho hum :), I hope you found it useful even with the "Annoying music"

  • @tony.hiscox
    @tony.hiscox  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @bzdread
    No - the video only discribes the installation process - the fine tuning finshes once you have the weakest satellite - after that if you have followed the procedure correctly selecting a satellite with the receiver will cause the dish to move to the correct position for that satellite

  • @tony.hiscox
    @tony.hiscox  15 ปีที่แล้ว

    There is no mistracking if you use USALS usals calculates where each satellite MUST be if you follow the rules - making sure the pole is upright and then inserting your own longitude and latitude the longitude is entered on the STAB motor and the declination is about 7.5 deg for UK thensend the dish to first sat and move mount around the pole to the first sat - now all the sats will be very close - start with a strong sat then the weak ones can be fine tuned

    Hi I have never used a motorised satellite dish so just want to know one thing. Do I need another cable to move the motorised satellite dish around or the coaxial cable does the job?

    • @tony.hiscox
      @tony.hiscox  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      in the modern system the control and power for the USALS motorised dish all comes from the LNB cable
      there is another system which predates USALS and DiSEqC 1.2 and that system is still used for dishes over 1.3 Metres if you haven't yet bought your equipment please give me a call on 07808607502

    And with an installation such as this (on a low wall) don't forget to put something large (big flower pot etc) underneath the sharp bracket to prevent small children running into those dangerously sharp corners.

    • @tony.hiscox
      @tony.hiscox  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Second Unit Aerials, safety first buddy, there is/was a low wall where that installation was, (you can see Terry step up onto the wall in the video) but the installation itself was behind a gated driveway gated to the road and gated to the garden there is a lot wrong with this video which I hope doesn't take away from it's usefulness

    Why is motor upside down? I live in Tillamook Oregon what would my settings be at LAT: 45.456216 LONG: -123.844014? i have a STAB HH90.

    • @tony.hiscox
      @tony.hiscox  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The STAB HH100 and HH120 are designed and fitted as shown in the video the HH90 is designed differently so that the pole comes out of the bottom of the body of the motor but it's all about how the rotors are designed - on your HH90 you will have a latitude mark so clear since you say you're at 45.5 North that's the mark you'll set the mount too your HH90 has an installation manual showing that the Body of the HH90 has markings which you line up against the Pressed Steel part which in turn clamps to the pole
      as for the declination on your dish well I no longer have the HH90 in stock but I do remember your manual has help and this will be used in conjunction with the known elevation angle on your satellite dish - in short I can't help you without more information but normally I would use a website that'll tell you the elevation to your most southerly satellite then while the dish is in it's mid position use and angle finder under the boom arm of the dish that'll normally need to be set for the elevation of YOUR most southerly satellite - I hope I'm making sense - if you need more help whatsapp me on +447808607502

    not mentioned because it's not really relevant - finding south magnetic or true is a first step final alignment is what will give you the result you are ultimately aiming for - the method to find south using the sun is more acurate than using a compass but at this stage in the set-up the point is to vaugely know where south is (within a few degrees of it) when you get to send the motor to your first satellite your motor is still loose enough to make

    No LNB skew?

    • @tony.hiscox
      @tony.hiscox  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely not - as the dish moves east and west from whichever satellite is at it's south position (which is different for different people) then the LNB is skewed over - if you have ever watched a Motorised dish move you will note that as the dish moves it tips over (as it were) in the direction it's facing and that means you get the correct skew for each satellite your dish is pointing at - now in these latter days of Satellite TV the ground stations can ensure that vertical signals are vertical and Horizontal signals are Horizontal but in the bad old days when satellite TV started we needed INdependent Polorisers to adjust skew for each satellite as I say those days are long gone - hope you find my video helpful it was made more than 2 decades ago now but still the basic principles haven't changed Tony 07808607502 [if you want a chat]

    It's spelled "MOTORIZED" NOT Motorised. I agree the music was a nightmare and took away from the video. It was entirely too loud in addition to being totally obnoxious.Motorize, Realize, Civilize etc. are all commonly misspelled with an "S" Apparently lots of people slept through spelling class. Without the letter Z we wouldn't have Zorro, Zebras or Zippers. Don't be afraid to use the letter Z. It may be the last letter of the alphabet but it's just as important as the first.

      +Brojofus Grin how ignorant and arrogant can one person be ?
      where is your free "how to" video?
      motorised it is spelt motorised in England where the video was made - not motorized
      www.tysto.com/uk-us-spelling-list.html

    • @Brojofus
      @Brojofus 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      This "one person" is just ignorant and arrogant to bring your misspelling to your attention. Did that cause you public embarrassment? You obviously don't like to be corrected and can't handle criticism. Get over it. You just got a free spelling lesson. I didn't think a video was necessary. Private tutors are usually paid very well for their services. Where's your appreciation? Where's my thanks? I'm willing to bet you'll remember how to correctly spell motorized after this. Have a lovely day.

    • @tony.hiscox
      @tony.hiscox  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Brojofus Grin you just don't get it do you? Motorised is spelt motorised in the country that brought you the internet and English - don't be a a perpetual idiot, educate yourself on the history of your language and the internet - you spell Motorised with a Z (pronounced "ZED") if you want to but don't be so arrogant as to think you know best how it's spelt in England the land that gave you English or here on the internet also freely given by an Englishman and don't be so ignorant as to tell me off on my free video to help people install a Motorised system - what difference do you think it will make if I did spell it the American way? - get over yourself. you are ignorant if you don't know the differences in spelling between many words either side of the pond and you are arrogant if you think all the people in England are going to spell it the American way xx LOVE xx

    • @Brojofus
      @Brojofus 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try "spelled" instead of "spelt" That is just totally wrong regardless of which side of the pond you live on. I will note that "motorised" is the English way of spelling motorized. Do yourself a favour and consult your dictionary. By the way, when I spelled motorized with an "S" my spell checker automatically changed it to a "Z" I had to manually override the spell checker. The words motorised and favour are both underlined in red to indicate misspelled words. I don't usually spell favor with a "U" but did so for your benefit. Is the spell checker a British invention as well? Have a blessed day. Cheerio

      you're wrong again Brojofus - I refer you to this

      As for who invented the spell checker that was an American called "Les
      Earnest" however this has been developed by people who aren't
      "arseholes" to include options for other languages -not all Americans are
      as ignorant or arrogant as you continue to be and some people can be
      told they were wrong and actually research what they say and accept it
      when they are. I'm not perfect but I can accept when I'm wrong so if you
      had successfully proved that - I'd be thanking you. Instead I have to
      tell you that you aren't as clever as you think you are and my computer
      also underlines words it thinks I've spelt wrong but I have an English
