    Residence around the dam should come together and find ways to fix it, waiting for water affairs to come on board that will never happen.

    I saw an article a while ago about a bug that can be used to control the plant. What has happened to that program?

      That may sound like a selution but its not that easy...bringing in bugs can creat other problems in the eco system...

      @wikmeister1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the anc stops stealing money the bug would be even more effective as it eats just a certain part of plant killing it and then dies off as well.Amazing what a 3mm bug can achieve.

    We have a lot of joblessness and poverty. Train and equip under-privileged people to build rafts with large mesh trays using recycled material and send them on a swimming course for free then give them rakes and pitchforks to go scoop up the hyacinth and dump it on land so it can dry out and die.
    The earlier this is done the better. What's the point in waiting for it to get to 50% coverage then only act when there's so much more hyacinth, that is going to need a lot more resources to remove. Its like weeds in your garden. You monitor it all the time and remove them before they turn your yard into a jungle and attract all kinds of insects and other strange life-forms.

      P.S this has been happening for many many decades so its not like you can't have standard measures in place by now. The tender process and outsourcing removed all the skills from the areas who are actually responsible. They should be proactive experts.

    Stop the pollution causing hyacint growth at the source. We don't want gauteng dirty water here. Unfair to expect residents of Hbp. to solve the issue. Dept. water affairs is to blame.
