- Before you begin watching this holiday tour of my living room, please remember to comment with any special memories, traditions, or special moments, that are near and dear to you during the Christmas season. I think it’s especially important this year that we have a sense of community with one another while we’re staying apart physically. In this tour of my living room, I tried to give you an experience of what it would be like to be one of my children in the living room on Christmas morning. Not a lot of glitzy bubbles and sparkly objects this year. It somehow didn’t seem appropriate. Instead nature reins. Look for remnants of my ice storm damage, candlelight everywhere, and special things I find essential during the holidays. I’ve tried to list them below, along with other helpful products that might get you through the holiday season with ease. I hope you enjoyed this memory riddled Christmas tour in my home, and I thank you for sharing this nostalgic review with me.

I forgot to mention a beautiful tradition someone taught me as a young child to express the true meaning of Christmas. Whenever I would do a good deed, I would place a toothpick in a little decorative box. On Christmas eve I would place that box at the foot of the manger as my gift to Jesus. As a mother I taught my children and they would do the same❤️
That is beyond dear!!

Linda, thank you for sharing your home with us as well as your special holiday traditions. The tours of your home and garden are like visiting with a friend. I especially like when you share how special something is to you. I decorate my tree with ornaments that remind me of our family history. I made cross stitch ornaments the first few years we were married. Then my kids made ornaments in school and Sunday school as they were growing up. They are so precious to me. Again, thank you for sharing.

Linda, your home is as beautiful as your gardens. I prefer older homes and mine is 70 years old (the same as I am). My 2 children live in 100 year old Craftsman and Arts and Crafts bungalows. Like me, they prefer antiques and vintage furnishings and they are passionate gardeners ( not easy here in Minnesota). Your home decor is interesting and comfortable and I think tells a story about the inhabitants. That is what I love about older homes and decorating in this style. Linda, you are so gracious to welcome us all into your beautiful home. I so love your style and appreciate your love for the beauty of nature and antiquity. You asked about some of my treasures, and one is my nativity. Each year after our Sunday school program, each child was able to choose a figure to take home. I have lovingly placed it on my piano, next to our Advent wreath and nativity from our missionary sister in Guatemala. Have a wonderful, blessed Christmas!🎄

One Christmas tradition I started for my boys is that I put a small basket filled with hay beside the manger. Whenever anyone said a prayer or did something nice for someone, they could put another piece of hay inside the manger “to keep Baby Jesus warm.” 😊🙏🏼🎄
It’s all a special mix of vintage and natural elements which blend together for a warmly festive home!

A tradition I started in our family when the children were little was to have chocolate fondue with cut up fruits. We had so much enjoyment doing it.

With everything this year has been for me with the fires, the passing of my father & of course the weight of the pandemic we all experience, I am renewed in my heart to bring new & renewed traditions for our immediate family of 7! Thank you for sharing your beautifully tasteful, nature-themed home decor for Christmas. More, please. My husband has a wall of international LPs in our family room that he rotates by theme and season. Thank you Linda for sharing your beautiful home, and some of your lovely treasured memories with us. One tradition that we enjoyed as children in our Parents' home was that my two brothers and I were always allowed to open a gift on Christmas Eve. It was always the gift that our Mother would choose for us to open. She always managed to choose the gifts that held our cozy new pajamas. 😉 My brothers and I would drift off each Christmas Eve wearing our new jammies as we anxiously awaited Christmas Morning, so that we would be able to open our other gifts that Santa would leave for us. Many years later, my wonderful husband of 26 years and I continue this tradition with just the two of us since we were not blessed with children. Each year, I pour over the many pajama designs before choosing the ones that we will wear on Christmas Eve. As we don our new jammies, we take our yearly picture, bake cookies, and enjoy watching Christmas movies together. Thank you again Linda for sharing with us and inspiring so many of us. Christmas has always been more special for me and my brothers as we studied in convent schools in BANGLORE, India. The tradition I love is my dad realised that it’s so special and always bought gifts for us , soon for his grandchildren and even though he is no more we yet go and celebrate Christmas with my mom every year and exchange presents too. Just love how much joy it gives to all of us.

the most beautiful christmas tradition in my mind is having kids caroling singing house to house on the street and going to church beginning december 1 to 25 the birth of Jesus Christ. Christmas is my favorite times to go visit my birth country.

I didn’t know of your channel in December, but I got here as fast as I could! What a warm and cozy tour! You make us feel as if you’ve invited friends over for the afternoon. 🥰 What special memories in every nook. I collect children’s Christmas books and place them on the coffee table each year! One of our traditions is for one of the grandsons to read “The Three Trees.” It also takes me and my husband about three days to decorate. We put up four trees, yes, I’m married to a male version of Martha Stewart! Each one has a theme: one is all collected ornaments, especially vintage ones; one is on our back porch outside; one is only ornaments made by our children and grandchildren, and one has a vintage children’s theme with old fashioned toys/books underneath. Your home is magical looking with charm! You’re so blessed to have that history in a cookie cutter housing market. One thing we do outside, again, because of the grandchildren, is a life size Grinch that I painted that we attach our porch lights to as if he is stealing our decorations. Cuts way down on the amount of decor, why, because he’s “stolen” them! Our neighborhood kids get a kick out of him! 🙌🏻💕🪴

We had the same gas heater in our living room fireplace when I was growing up in the 50s. I loved sitting by it and watching the flames flicker.
I've been looking for one I can put in the garden and plant with Irish moss or sedum.

This was a lovely glimpse into your home, thank you so much for sharing. I too went through a traumatic storm that devastated my garden and took down 3 of my treasured trees, and really changed how my 1942 home looks. Im still trying to recover emotionally from that and felt I just didn't have it in me to go all out with my regular Christmas display, so went very minimalist this year. I realize now even tho I live alone, my decorations weren't just enjoyed by me, but just how much my neighbors loved seeing them from through the windows along with the outdoor decor. Many have asked if "I'm well" and when will I be decorating LOL... so message received, its time to snap out of my funk and put out a few more decorations. Happy Holidays to all, and take care.

Linda, I do not know how I missed your holiday video. I too used to put out holiday books for the Christmas season. I would always read my niece The Little Match Girl. She always looked at me like I had three heads. Because every time I read this simple childs book my eyes would tear up and my voice would stammer. To this day The Little Match Girl is a part of my holiday tradition. My niece, not so much.

One of my Christmas treasures is a straw angel my mom made for me when I was student teaching. I was one straw angel short, and my mom took a straw broom apart to make her. As luck would have it, one student was absent so I was able to keep my special straw angel. She is front and center each year on my tree. I so enjoy your channel.

i didn't even want to set up Christmas in 2020, but my daughter encouraged me, i set it up before Thanksgiving...ended up settling up two trees, it's amazing how much it helps our mental health. we met with our daughter and her family outside with outdoor heaters, we made a fun memory....again beautiful decor

Beautiful, Linda. I loved how you did the bulbs- stunning !, The packages ( deer fur paper LOVE ) and the pine cones, magnolia pods with the painted acorns. So pretty - THAT TREE WATERING FUNNEL.. OMG.... I should've invented that thing ! I wasn't smart enough. For years, I snaked around on the floor, sliding up underneath to the pour water all over the hardwood floors.

Oh Linda your Home is Absolutely Gorgeous and I Love, Love, Love your Home so much. It warmed my Heart when you were telling about your son and the Box . Well one year when my son was in 3rd grade I gave him money for his Lunch and I was in the Hospital and when I came home he had the biggest SMILE on his face and hand me a gift and when I opened it up I started crying .I asked him where he got the money to make this Beautiful Plate and he said Mommy I used my Lunch money . Just to think he went without lunch made it even more Special. I treasure this plat all these years and on St Patties day he will be 55 years old.I have not taken it down it is in my kitchen. I like to decorate the whole month. As long as it looks nice for the big day and gathering I'm happy that's it takes time to finish. It's the doing of traditions I love. I appreciate the natural elements you use. I dont do faux. I dont want to have to put it all away. I just chuck it in the compost pile when it's done.
