    We travelled the Oodnadatta Track in 1993 with our three young children and stayed at Coward Springs , quite a bit different then not even a fence around the spa although the flies seem to be just as bad. We are loving the trip down memory lane so much so were going back, thanks for your travels, just love it.

    We absolutely loved Coward Springs too. Our latest unexpected experience was camping at Lake Ballard, north of Kalgoorlie. Checking out some of the 51 art sculptures scattered on the salt lake was fascinating. The sunset and sunrise were the best, but the flies were relentless. It is a must do place to visit.

      Great memories and great tip for us to add to our list! Wish we magically get rid of the flies where we are too! Argh 😅😳👍

    Most unique experience - out of three strips to North Stradbroke Island, two times we have had catastrophic breakdowns in two different cars. The second was only last year and led to a 9 hour wait, flights home from Brisvegas and towing back to the NSW Central Coast for the car and van. Hasn’t stopped the adventures though!

    We stayed at Lorella Springs, which I think now is closed and used a donkey shower there, which also took a while to heat up. The toilet also had a resident green tree frog that whenever you flushed the frog came out clinging on for dear life from under the rim😂

      We’d love to go to Lorella Springs, I’ll have to check if it’s closed but that is what we heard on the grapevine 😳 hopefully the poor frog survived and lives on 🤣🐸🙌

    Our most memorable place was at Possum park near Miles QLD.
    It’s an old army depot turned into a camp/caravan park.
    Lots of underground bunkers to explore. We experienced a what I can only describe as spiritual experience on entering one of the open bunkers. Something we will never forget.
    Happy travels and thanks for the great content 😊😊

    On our honeymoon in Fiji we went on a boat tour to an island the boat was overloaded and the Fijians were bailing it out on the way back. also while snorking a shark was spotted we all jumped back in the boat the Fijians jumped in to try and catch it. These are the unique memories I remember

    We went away over this weekend, wanting to explore some areas - booked a Hipcamp, the listing said there was a swimming hole/hot spring and that it was a farm, turned up and they invited us to set up in the "camping area" next to the fire pit, but it was literally the driveway, right next to their house! 😂 Needless to say we made our excuses and carried on!! 🤣 🤣

    • @TheFeelGoodFamily
      @TheFeelGoodFamily  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hahaha!! That’s hilarious 🤣 we booked at a intimate farm style camp with only a couple of sites and didn’t realise till we were there that it was a ‘naturist’ camp…. Clothing optional! 😳 we had a ball (excuse the pun) stayed clothed and the owners were super friendly! We laughed when leaving the property was a sign reminding campers to “re-clad before exiting!”

We jumped in the spa at sunrise on a frosty morning, best wake up call yet! 😂 One of the most memorable places is Cameron Corner where our 3 children were able to stand in the state they were born. Make sure fly nets for the Australian outback and the black flies are crazy especially when you are hiking in the desert of the Australia’s Red Centre and every summer gets the monsoonal thunderstorms bullied in the hot weather in the afternoons hours and lightning is spectacular to watch in places like Yulara by the Ayers Rock Resort in the north of Uluru or Ayers Rock. And also in Alice Springs gets spectacular lightning storms in the summer months of the heat in the desert make the clouds build in to the cumulonimbus clouds produces a lot of lightning and hear the sound of the thunder afterwards and the heavy rain causing flash floods when the storms hit.

    I was in Chicago in 2007, followed two people into a lift in my hotel, asked them what floor, and looked up to see Mohammad Ali and his daughter. Spent the next 2 mins alone with both, shaking hands and introducing ourselves. The boss went to the toilet at emu park and she wasn’t impressed when she flushed as 6 green frogs suddenly appeared in the bowl. A little question do you think that a road caravan would be able to follow the route that you are doing at the moment? Oh and the frogs was in the 80s camping back then.

    • @TheFeelGoodFamily
      @TheFeelGoodFamily  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ha! Yes the frogs 🐸 in QLD are a little unexpected surprise 😅 we love emu park one of our favourite locations!! The Oodnadatta Track varies in corrugated sections and can rattle through you, in saying that we experienced a fairly well graded road for most of the 630km! You would need to make a decision based on the vans build quality and suspension- and tyre pressures lowered would be the first line of defence with the corrugations - you may also void your warranty if the van is not made for off-road touring so check that too with the manufacturer 😳 another option is to leave the van at one end and drive and overnight in the cheap accommodation options behind roadhouses and pubs - you could use Coober Pedy Views to drop your van (they have a cheap storage option) and then tackle the Oodnadatta from there. Hope that helps - my gut feeling is that I wouldn’t take a road van on the Oodnadatta- everything else we are doing on the bitumen would be fine obviously 💙 safe travels

    • @TheFeelGoodFamily
      @TheFeelGoodFamily  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A good reminder for me to buy a ticket!! I think about winning the lottery all the time but don’t buy a ticket 😅 - back to the corrugations, you need to find a ‘sweet’ spot that allows the vehicle to almost go on top of them and not in between them - some sections we could easily do 70kmph and others 50kmph - the worst sections are always the 5-6km coming into or leaving a main stop - coward springs, William creek, Oodnadatta.

    One of SA’s best road trips imo 💜🤟🇦🇺 my unique experience is getting bogged on the track into Kings Canyon next to a tour bus and had to wait for a grader. It was way before there was a resort. The year was around 1984. We all camped in the muddy scrub but had a blast around the campfire 🔥 🤟🇦🇺🇦🇺😊

    Love the singing guys!!
    My most unique experience on the road would be having to babysit a children’s python for a ranger at Lawn Hill Gorge when we were kids! (Many years ago!!)

    We were transferred in an old beat up van in south of France along with canoes to canoe back up the river by a local French guy just trying to make a buck. Was a lovely salt of earth guy and we had an amazing and picturesque paddle down the river back to Le Bugue. Core memory.

      I was in Chicago in 2007 and followed two people into a lift in my hotel, door closes, I look up to ask him what floor, and there’s Mohammad Ali and his daughter. Spent the next 2 minutes alone with him and his daughter, shook hands with both, I’ll never forget the kind smile nor the size of his hands as we shook hands.

    Great episode. It’s amazing what vehicles can do tracks if they drive safely and with correct tyre pressures. The old donkey trick of wait a couple of beers trick will stop a cold shower 😉🤣.

      We were amazed (and felt a little silly in our 4wd and off road caravan ) when we saw the large number of standard vehicles such as commodores driving along the Tanami Track back in 2016. All pulled over to let us pass with a wave and a smile, which wasn’t a behaviour echoed by our fellow tourists.

      Amazing isn’t it 👍 we haven’t done the tanami yet - another for our list

    I was in an hotel in Cairo during Ramadan. I asked reception where I could get a beer. He told me “at the airport departure lounge”

    Some years ago we were in Hungary, where they have a “pee pee lady” someone who supposedly cleans the toilets. You pay her a fee to pee, she was even at McDonald’s and … the toilets were dirty LOL
