  • Jumping on the FlossTube train because I didn't realized this was a thing, but I love that it's a thing! And I love how wide and crazy the cross stitch community is! Who knew! I was just over here stitching away on my own... Anyway, in this #flosstube I talk about a few things I've finished, a few things I'm working on, and several projects I'm looking forward to. And since this is a channel for #crossstich and chilling, I also give a quick recap of the shows and movies I'm watching, and the books I'm reading!
    Patterns Mentioned
    Best Wishes, Warmest Regards - The Music Makers
    Floral Embroidery - VINGERT
    Hogwarts Landscape - 2x2 Stitch Art
    Chonk Fat Cat - Cross Stitch Kick
    Behold My Stuff - Circus Stitches
    Schitt's Creek Landmarks - Stitchy Time Designs

    Nice debut. I love your approach to cross stitch projects - give them away at the end! Same here. I'll stitch anything as long as I have someone to give it to ;) Looking forward to the next flosstube.

      Thank you! I just enjoy making them and I love making people happy with a gift. Check out my 2nd flosstube video, I finished my Harry Potter one and gave it to my friend. I took a picture, she was so excited!

    ❤❤ I search for flosstube #1 and just with opening the video I thought it looks professional! So good you mention that you do this for business 😍 I was like how did she got that quality 😊 impressive 😍 I loved the flower embroidery and the fact that you give your projects away in my mind is I am like this 🤯🤯🤯 but it said a lot about you! And phones are comming more addictive every time or over eat 🙃 welcome to the community

      Thanks so much! Yes, having the fancy equipment on hand is super helpful! Lately I've been keeping my projects, because I've been so excited about stitching them! And I don't want to give my friends and family too much stuff to put on the wall. But I still love stitching gifts for my peeps!

    Great first video - loved hearing about your stitching. It sounds like you're definitely a process stitcher (enjoy the stitching, but not focussed on the finished project and looking at it again). I stitch in hand and use the sewing method - I could never get the hang of hoops or q-snap. I think the gridding is most useful with something like a large full coverage, and the pre-gridded fabric is worth getting for those (unless you want to spend hours gridding!). Looking forward to seeing what else you get up to.

    • @x-stitchandchill
      @x-stitchandchill  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for all the great insight Kim! I've seen a lot of people using the pre-gridded fabric and I'm thinking I'll go with that for my full coverage piece I just got. Otherwise, I think next time I'll just use a water soluble pen to draw the grid.

    Welcome to flosstube!
    I also kill house plants,. I actually remember seeing a cross stitch that says "Home is where the plants die" 🤣. Which is so true for me....I really need to stitch that.
    Love your embroidered flowers, it looks really good. I have one project that uses specialty stitches ( well actually just satin stitches) and I am avoiding them at all cost because I have no idea what I am doing😝
    Marvel fans in this house too, I have not seen the latest Thor though....or actually any new ones...hmmm maybe we are not ad big of fans as I thought. We love playing the Marvel Legendary board game though 😝🤓.
    Great first video, going to go and check out your next one!😊

    • @x-stitchandchill
      @x-stitchandchill  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I need that plant pattern too! It's absolutely perfect! Satin Stitches aren't too terrible, I try to stitch them wide at first and then start filling in, otherwise they start to get wonky. I always practice stitches on a scrap piece of fabric, and then when I use it in a project it's not as nice. And I don't think you need to watch the movies to be a Marvel fan. There are SO MANY of them. I haven't seen every one. Thanks for checking out the videos! They have been fun to make and I've really enjoyed chatting with everyone!

    Welcome to flosstube!! You have such a neat variety of projects, I love it. I'm really interested in what camera equipment you use--my husband has a nice camera that I have no idea how to set up but I'm wanting to use it for better video quality. :) Can't wait to see more of what you do!

    • @x-stitchandchill
      @x-stitchandchill  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I like all the things and just like to stitch things I think are pretty! I use a Canon R5 with a EF 24-70mm lens. I work as a freelance videographer for weddings, events, business, other TH-camrs, so I have probably a nicer set up than most. I also use a Tascam DR-10 lav mic for my audio since my house can be a bit echo-y. I've watched your videos and I think your quality is great! I think it's all about the lighting though. Natural light will always look nicer than tungsten bulbs. But a ring light can come close... haha!

  • @tallgrasslanestitches6635
    @tallgrasslanestitches6635 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My suspicion is that you’d enjoy the vector art/wedding photo embroidery project more if you were using regular fabric. The Aida sort of controls where you can poke your needle, and that limits what you can do with it, especially where embroidery is concerned.
    Also…welcome to FlossTube!

    • @x-stitchandchill
      @x-stitchandchill  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the welcome! And the tip! I think I agree that it would be better on regular fabric. Anything specific you would recommend?

    Welcome to FlossTube! I too stumbled onto flosstube by accident and now I cannot get enough. We have so many similar interest and I cannot wait to see all the projects you have in store. I never even thought of adding cross stitch to shoes or one of my bags, but holy moly the possibilities. Please tell us when you watch Love and Thunder and what you think.

    • @x-stitchandchill
      @x-stitchandchill  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I thought I was the only one doing cross stitch anymore, but jokes on me! I'm excited about stitching on something else. I feel like I have lots of art on my walls already, and my husband would die if I just hung cross stitch everywhere. This way I can still enjoy it and have something more useful. I finally finished Love and Thunder! It was awesome! Not quite as great as Ragnarok, and the ending was a little kitchy but when he called them "Love and Thunder" it made me feel differently!

    I just got back into cross-stitching (first did it in the '90s, so it's been awhile.) I also had never heard of Floss Tubes until last month! I'm learning a lot from watching these! Who knew people were still doing this? I wandered into a stitching shop in Ogden, UT during a work trip, and was blown away! I bought two books and some patterns, and now I am wanting to combine cross-stitch with silk ribbon embroidery, but I still consider myself a beginner that avoids large and complicated projects!

    • @x-stitchandchill
      @x-stitchandchill  ปีที่แล้ว

      I love all of this! Yeah, I thought I was the only one out there doing my "old lady craft", but after finding fun patterns on Etsy and finding out that FlossTube is a thing, and even stitching retreats! It's crazy and I'm so happy I stumbled into this world! Your idea to combine cross-stitch and silk ribbon embroidery sounds beautiful! I'd love to see it! I'd say I'm still a beginner too. I started a new project last night and realized I messed up on the first spot I stitched and had to pull it all out... But I'm sure even the pros mess up too! Best of luck with your stitching!

    I am the exact same! I need to keep my hands busy. I quilt and cross stitch. I got rid of social media in Dec of 2020 and it’s helped my mental health tremendously. I feel so much more present. So happy to find a flosstuber that is interested in the same style as I am. A lot of the others do all the same things, which is cool and I do enjoy them, but it gets old. Love Only Murderers, such a good show! The Handmaids Tale show is excellent. Highly recommend. Looking forward to future videos!

      I would love to get rid of Social Media! But I use it for my other business too much... I agree there aren't too many flosstuber's doing more of the "pop culture" stitching. I love what others are doing, it's just not for me. Just finished Only Murderers, and I've been seeing previews for the newest season of the Handmaids Tale... I might cave and watch it!

    Welcome to flosstube! Great first video! We just finished binge watching Schitt's Creek. So funny! Your finish & wips are awesome! Can't wait to see how your bag turns out & to watch your progress on your full coverage piece. I love full coverage. Counting seems easier to me with those than the smaller patterns. Tom Hanks is an amazing actor! How cool you got to do a wedding in Iceland. We live in Michigan. My hubby has been to Wyoming & Colorado hiking & plans to take me one day to see the mountains. He said they are both very beautiful states & from the pics he's shown me it looks very beautiful.
    Hope you have a great few weeks. Looking forward to your next video. Much love ❤️

      @x-stitchandchill  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the warm welcome! I'm excited to get started on the bag and the full coverage! I might do a test run on one bag with a different pattern first to test things out! I'm not very good with confetti stitching so some full coverage seems impossible! But this one is pretty basic so I like that! Hiking in CO is epic! Especially at this time of year when the aspens are turning yellow. We call it "leaf peeping" season and it does get crowded, but it's worth it for the scenery!

    I use to cross stitch on shirts, like the cuffs, collars and pockets. It was a big deal in the 1990’s. You will have fun and great pattern for a bag? I love Schitt’s Creek also, didn’t know there were patterns out there for it. Thanks for letting me know! Great job on starting your own channel.
