  • This video is for the data junkies, we go through the different rifle setups for each of our three custom rifles. We cover velocities, drops, groups and barrel life. We cover component availability and options for brass and projectiles along with recoil levels. We cover our actual retrieved data from our shooting to 700, 900 and 1,375 Yards and talk about how much of a difference we found at each range.

    So really it comes down to powder consumption and barrel life trade off for better wind and less drop. So depending on your ammo consumption and if you want to reload instead of buying factory, you can choose your poison. Good video guys.

      Nice, that’s a really concise way to think about choosing a cartridge. All of the various caliber arguments online can mostly be boiled down to that.

      6mm Dasher is a better cartridge period. Super easy to get super low SDs extremely accurate and less heat/easier on barrels/longer barrel life. It's a better round plain and simple. The 6mm CM is a great round don't get me wrong but it's out classed by the Dasher. Norma designed a hell of a round with it.

    I'm concerned about several things when they showed the primers one shows extremely high pressures and the oher was questionable. The next thing that concerned me was the ring around the base of couple of the cases. I would love to measure these cases and bore scope the chambers on those two guns..

    Your car will always take less energy to accelerate from 0 to 50 than it takes to accelerate from 50 to 100. The cartridge with the slowest bullet is always going appear to be the most efficient.

    • @justinhohn9974
      @justinhohn9974 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's good to have options. I suspect the GT was be replaced my a new hotness before it every really gets much traction.
      Being developed around Varget ends up being a handicap, IMHO because 1) Varget isn't kind to throats and 2) it's often very hard to get.
      Lots of use have moved on and discovered other powders just because of the Varget perpetual shortage it seems. Nobody wants to buy 32# of it in the rare instances of plenty.
      Going a little bigger on the case gives you more powder options. With all the 6BR variants out there now, it seems you have no shortage of options and even less justification for proliferating yet ANOTHER 6mm variant.

    Just bought a magpul hunter stock for my ruger American 243win. Really like the stock almost went with the Boyd's but it would have been another 150$ for the bottom metal to accept ai mags. Slapped a 4-14x vortex diamond back tactical ffp mrad scope on and its a pretty decent shooter out to 600yds possibly farther but that's as far as ive taken it so far.

      wanting to rebarrel it, but I know very little about bolt guns as I usually spend most my time piecing together ar15's. Can anyone point me in the right direction of a heavy profile barrel for the ruger American. Preferably 243win since I have a ton of ammo for it already but would consider 6.5 or 6mm creed I guess too.

    • @preferredbarrels
      @preferredbarrels  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We offer Ruger American prefit barrels. You can get custom chambers, lengths and twist rates. If you get a 243 win you can shoot your existing ammo and if you get a 1:8 twist you will be able to shoot the heavy target bullets like a 6mm creedmoor. I mean projectiles, you cant shoot 6 creedmoor in a 243 win.Best of both worlds. If you go to our site preferredbarrelblanks.com and click prefits you can design and see all our options with an instant quote there. Thanks for watching.

    This seems pretty flawed comparison, especially for recommending cartridge based on performance in this video.
    I understand using the same powder to understand how efficient a cartridge is but comparing dope when not using the optimal for each cartridge (except you are using the optimal powder for 6 Creedmoor) is apples to oranges. For example you should be able to get 2950 fps easily with the Dasher using varget, in you're test you're using H4350 which is considerably slow for that cartridge and is why you're only achieving 2800 fps.
