"Cocaine" was always played in the clubs back in the day, everybody danced to it! Yes, you need to listen to " wonderful tonight", it's a great song! Love watching your reactions! Love to see the younger people discover the great classic rock and pop songs.
@@eggy1962 Yes, great example! And wow, I can't even believe that, I would've thought it was much higher! I grew up in the 70s with all this music on the radio & these were huge hits.
I danced my ass off to this song in a club I patronized!! The band there did an excellent job on this song!!! It's just a laid back groove you feel deep in your soul!!! I know there are listeners who know what I'm talking about!!! ❤❤✌️✌️
Classic Eric Clapton song! Wow hard to believe you’ve never run across this song! Soooo many great Clapton songs! His Unplugged album is fantastic as well!! Tears in Heaven is very sad but it really showcases more of his vocals. One of my top 10 concert moments-Anaheim Pond standing in front of the stage jamming to this song!! Unbelievable experience 💜
Can't get enough Eric. He is a legend for a reason. He and J.J. were close friends. (Eric had some very talented friends) This was a great jam tune and was very impactful music.
Eric Clapton and George Harrison were best friends until George's death They shared the same wife Patti Boyd. ERIC WROTE WONDERFUL TONIGHT about her and George wrote Something about her.
Eric did a whole album with J.J. Cale before he passed (R.I.P. JJ) they had a longstanding friendship and musical admiration for each other. I would offer listening to Eric's solo in Stephen Stills (CSNY) solo album song called Go Back Home.
Since you've heard Layla, you've listened to one band with Clapton, Derek and the Dominos (1970). Try Bell Bottom Blues from them. Then look back. Start with The Yardbirds (1963) and follow along.
It might not have done very well when it came out but Cocaine is a classic Eric Clapton song. I think 'Tears in Heaven' is the kind of song you're looking for.
Many people are asking for Wonderful Tonight, but I think you should also consider Lay Down Sally from this album. Awesome tune, too. Catchy like this one
IMHO Journeyman is his best overall album, several great songs on it. After he got clean and sober, and opened the Crossroads addiction treatment center, he's tweaked the lyrics on concert performances of Cocaine to make it more of a warning or cautionary tale than an endorsement.
When I read that his guitar was “so clean” all I could think of was the grandfather in the Beatles’ movie A Hard Day Night who was constantly being described as “very clean”. 😏😉
This song was written by JJ Cale a very underrated artist. Clapton basically covered it note for note. Clapton also covered After Midnight by Cale (I prefer Cale's original). JJ Cale also wrote Call Me The Breeze that Lynyrd Skynyrd covered...I also prefer Cale's original. His song Crazy Mama has been covered by several artists including The Band and Johnny Rivers. 3 of the 4 songs I mentioned were on Cales first album Naturally (Cocaine was off of a different album) Finally, Clapton and Cale collaborated on an album called Road to Escondido that was quite good.
You'd like this album. It's probably not right for a reaction, not dramatic, no Layla-like soaring. It's laidback; like you said, chill. But when you're in the mood for that, you can't beat it. Great Sunday driving music. But be sure to listen to the original album, it's 9-10 songs. They did a 30-song re-release that's really a sort of Clapton GH, and the mood is trashed.
Sal, the person you decided to block on your Patreon has paid you for 4 song requests on your VIP tier, and those songs are now going unfulfilled. I hope you plan to do the right thing and refund the 80 dollars, rather than steal/keep that money.

Sometimes the charts don't reflect how popular a song is and how much people love it. This was a big song & remains a favorite of his music.
Classic example is doobie brothers- what a fool believes ….only made 34 in uk charts but is well loved

Cream, Derek and the Dominos, Blind Faith and The Yardbirds all were Clapton vehicles.
I've never been a big fan of Eric Clapton's soft ballads, but I LOVE his stuff like Cocaine and the original version of Layla.

People think this song is celebrating cocaine use but it is actually talking about the effects of cocaine addiction. That whole album is 🔥

Oh this would make a great jam indeed.
Can't get enough Eric. He is a legend for a reason. He and J.J. were close friends. (Eric had some very talented friends) This was a great jam tune and was very impactful music.
JJ Cale also wrote Call me the breeze, made famous by Lynyrd Skynerd......

Too bad Sam Cooke and Bobby Womack didn't have the same type of friendship cuz I still got questions😂
The musical genius of J. J. Cale. His catalog is amazing. ✌🏼😎🇺🇸
First! “Wonderful Tonight “ is definitely ones of his musts. 😊👍✌️
One of the best love songs ever written.
one of my favorites from Eric.
The songs meaning is that cocaine always gives you that feeling you want & expect. "She don't lie...cocaine"
Superb tune from Clapton.
I LOVE THIS SONG❤,,Thanks for the great reaction ❤
The guitar riff is great. Agreat song for chilling, or cruising.
I had this album as a cassette for my car. Loved it.

Tulsa Time is a great one vocally! Also Tears In Heaven that he wrote after his little boy was killed. He has such a soothing voice ❤

Doing coke isn't cool but the song is cool. I mean the instrumentation is.😂❤
This was big with the Rockers

This album was so huge
Check out "Lay Down Sally," "Wonderful Tonight", "Tears In Heaven" and "Promises".
When I read that his guitar was “so clean” all I could think of was the grandfather in the Beatles’ movie A Hard Day Night who was constantly being described as “very clean”. 😏😉
Wonderful Tonight and Tears in Heaven are definitely two you should do someday. Both are fantastic with real emotion behind the lyrics.
Oh yeah….one of my faves by Clapton. This is such a classic if you’re of a certain age. Which I am. 😁✌️
Nice. Thanks for sharing!
This is one of my favorite anti-drug songs along with Master of Puppets, Dr feelgood, Mr brownstone and Gold dust woman...

😆 🤣 😂 Forgot about Lay Down Sally!!
Love this one!
Eric Clapton - Rambling on my mind Live 1983
Watch Eric let the monster out for a bit
Also highly recommend anything off his Road to Escondido album collaboration with J.J. Cale.

I liked this song when I was 11 (1980). 😅
These songs these songs weren't played on AM
It was a warning against cocaine
Layla is my favorite from Eric, I like this song too…Cocaine!👍💙
Listen to Post Toasties by J J Cale.
Have a listen/watch of Clapton with Phil Collins - Bad Love.
Back in my time this was really a big deal

How about he just does the songs?
Eric Clapton is the single worst classic rock artist of all time. What a bore.
Life would be boring if everyone liked the same things. I like some of his stuff.

🇬🇧 Exactly. 👍
He is SO boring you saw fit to post your ignorant comment.
