Irony here is that's a Lionel ZW running the show. Still, guilty as charged, we're all little boys again when there's a train to be played with.

Had them all. My older brother, by 5 years, had Lionel and would not share with us younger ones. So one Christmas my younger brothers and myself, we were born in 46, 47 and 48, got an American Flyer set that had the GP7 engine. The following year we got a Santa Fe ALCO PA and PB set with the 'diesel horn' setup. I made my own bridge for the train using the Erector set. Would burn sulfur from the chemistry set just for fun and looked at the pond water with the microscope. All had a reflector telescope which was also A.C. Gilbert if memory serves me correctly.
Of course now days, the small parts in the Erector set, the chemicals in the Chemistry set would be major no-nos around kids.
    Great fun - nonetheless!
