Scott is one of the nicest dudes out there. Gamers Alley was my middle school friend group’s go-to game store. I moved and stopped swinging by as often, but ran into Scott at SEGE last year and he immediately recognized me 13 years later. You don’t see businesses and business owners like that every day. 👍
I’ve always wondered how the original creators of some of these high value games feel seeing the current value of their games. Like are they flattered, proud or just dumbfounded.
@@AlSimmons-km6ge I vividly remember picking up spike Mc fang for $2-$5 about 18 yrs ago & bunch of others from those bins! When I was younger and started my collecting journey was broke but bought what I could afford at the time.
I’d be hella pissed if some mid-level job I had decades ago produced something that’s worth a small fortune today 😂 That being said if I ever make anything of the sort, I’ll be sure to stockpile like 20 copies and have all the other devs sign them 😂
That's Scott for you haha, he wants to show people how cool it is, and has it because it's neat, the value down the road was never the biggest concern for him
This channel and the game point channel are my favorites on TH-cam. My son and I watch several videos daily. I love showing him all the fun retro items I grew up with in the 90s. 2025 we’re coming to Arkansas to start our retro collection. Keep up the great content!
I obtained my Yellow/Crystal/Emerald carts here! Nothing but good history for Gamer's Alley. Always been a customer and a fan, never treated me bad or refused any questions/issues I had. S/O Scott and the whole team, if you guys are in the area you gotta go check it out! 🤙
Rick is the only retro channel that gets me watching video start to finish without skipping, that saying something. Happy new year Rick from my family to yours! 🙏🏼🎉🥳
I love seeing stores with merchandise out on shelves. Living in Portland, Oregon the drugs and crime are so common that everything is locked up or hidden in the back rooms. GO to any store at anytime and you can spot someone either shoplifting, thinking about shoplifting or running out the door. Its like whack-a-mole around here.
This is my dream right here. A game store with toys! My second dream would be a record store with vintage audio equipment. But if I had my pick, it’d be a game and toys store. Granted that’s a lot of work! You’re having to go and seek out collections to continually replenish stock and that’s a good deal of time, resources and money right there. But that’d also be the fun of it.
I would be 100x more likely to purchase a retro toy in a plastic case over a plastic bag. It is a quick and easy display, feels more protected, and would be easier for the kiddos to know that it's not for them to open. I'd pay a few bucks extra for that.
I don't know if it's worth it. But if you're eve in the vicinity of North Wilkesboro, NC you can stop on By a little shop called Summit Gaming a collectables. It's not huge or snazzy (or hugely stocked) and is your ordinary local retro shop. But the owner and atmosphere are wonderful.
Scott is a good friend of mine. Best store in the area by far! He actually called me as you were looking for game room tours, but my bonus room wasn't ready yet. It's almost there now.
YES!!! FF8 IS HIS FAVORITE TOO!!! I get shit on all the time when i say FF8 is not only my favorite FF game, but favorite of all time. Thank you sir! If i am ever in your neck of the woods i will stop by and throw some money at you lol
Happy 2025 to you Rick and crew! Did I miss something? Are you still trying to collect all of the NES games? If you are still trying to do that, I’m guessing you don’t have stadium events yet. So I think it might be a good idea to get the rarest game on your list while you can, and it’s such a low price. I also think you don’t have anything to worry about with getting inventory… You’re always showing videos of acquiring new items that are coming in on trades and worst case scenario, you just go to eBay and buy a couple lots on there if you needed it or just work out a deal with the girl and let her know that you can’t afford to have such a big hit in one month on your inventory in the store. My vote is for you to get it. This was a great video. Good to see you out in the wild hunting for games.
For collecting I prefer the plastic. For selling I prefer the topper on toys. Toppers can bring potential business. Do you have a affiliate link to get some toppers made?
Rick, that guy said "hands down" that cards sell the best for him! I have 60+ GPK signed sketch cards. I also have 20+ GPK limited number cards. Let me know if you're interested!
I. WANT. THOSE. STAR WARS CARDBOARD ADVERTS. Seriously. As an OG trilogy Star Wars nerd...those are like the Stanly Cup of collecting for Star Wars. I just picked up a sweet poster for the "special edition" OG trilogy movies that came out in the 90's not too long ago and those cardboard adverts make my poster look like a napkin.
18,000 in store credit likely cost Rick 9-12,000 in cash based on what I assume his markup to be. So potentially getting that game for 9,000 in cash outlay seems amazing. That said 9k for a game to me is crazy, but that’s a different story.
I think this is a rerun. Which is cool with me, just seem to remember that Star Wars poster. Watching again 😊. Happy New Year everyone! And hapoy hunting!
You'd be surprised how quick even that kind of money would spend. Especially if you decide to fill out an entire collection you want of any kind. Some of the retro stuff can go for crazy money now a days thanks to youtube.
Ricko about that stadium events trade with the girl... tell her your concern & why your on the fence about it. Maybe she can calm your mind a bit by finding common ground on the topic & maybe make some additional agreements so your not stressed out she will clean all the top sellers out of the store. Just trying to think allong with ya 😊✌️
Swapping the Stadium Events could always yield the games that the customer would "buy" from the store in the case you'd sell the Stadium events. Seeing as you got a $5-10k "discount". I myself would never do the trade. I understand that Stadium Events is super rare. But is it worth the money in terms of enjoyment. Some see games as trophies for the shelf but I myself buy what I want to play. Especially now as a father I want to pass on the games I grew up with. Starting with the 8bit NES etc. I believe that games are good no matter how old they are when they get introduced to the younger audience. And so far it's true. My son loves SMB 1
Lol i clearly remember back in the 90’s when those toy biz toys came out they were around 5 bucks and a dime a dozen. I even lived by the factory in Lynbrook, long island NY
I hate when stores tape the case shut like that. I don’t want to have to guess whether or not I’m getting the manual or be forced to ask the employee to cut the tape and check. Such a nuisance.
1:42 Really? Funny how that can happen when you have multiple locations of something and all but 1 shut down, what’ll happen? WOW, that’s amazing!!!😒😒😒
im pretty sure delete me takes your info "deletes" you then sells your info and the loop repeats..... with the honey scam bs out im certain delete me is the same level of scum

Dude hasn't changed a bit, either. Former employee from the Cramerton and Dallas days, and that's still the only spot I'll go to for games and things.
This guy's shop has all the things that hit me right in the feels.... 10/10 would construct my man cave exactly after the items he has in his store!!
I’ve always wondered how the original creators of some of these high value games feel seeing the current value of their games. Like are they flattered, proud or just dumbfounded.
Probably regretful for not keeping a copy, or more of them.
Probably all of those, plus what Georgehernandez said.
There’s a plethora of game store owners from 10+ years ago kicking themselves in the head for selling all this shit in a dollar bin
@@AlSimmons-km6ge I vividly remember picking up spike Mc fang for $2-$5 about 18 yrs ago & bunch of others from those bins! When I was younger and started my collecting journey was broke but bought what I could afford at the time.

This guy curates his collection. Got that in common. Just no reason to have it all.
not with that attitude
$40k and you’re unfolding and folding it? Frame it!
That's Scott for you haha, he wants to show people how cool it is, and has it because it's neat, the value down the road was never the biggest concern for him
paid 40.000 for the complete collection. dont get clickbaited

Happy New Year to Rick, the crew and their families, god bless , hope the new year brings lots of joy, health, and prosperity!
I live about an hour from Gastonia and have never heard of this place. Looking forward to checking it out

Finally a guy with some sense.
Well he didn't pay 40k for it. So
Love their store very much always happy to come inside and feel welcomed. i’ve been a customer if theirs since 2016

This shop looks amazing. I have yet to find anything similar here in Nashville. Nothing like that inventory for sure.
Thanks for giving me a new place to check out the next time I'm in Gastonia!!
Man I wouldn't be folding those Star Wars posters anymore, they'd be in frames!
Sounds like solid advice. I hope he listens to that guy
that 3rd-eyeblind shirt is amazing. greatest band of all time.

Rick's hair is JACKED!!!
HOLY😂

Totally awesome video and happy new year man 😎.
never been this early to a video drop
Me being me I skipped to 3:25 for the action. I can confirm the man who sold the cardboard is very happy with the transaction.
40k for the Entire Store with much more still in storage... That's pretty good.
I had that Professor X figure on my bookshelf growing up. Really took me back. Awesome store.
$3k for 6 months is a really good medium solution for Rick and the seller.
Scott is a good friend of mine. Best store in the area by far! He actually called me as you were looking for game room tours, but my bonus room wasn't ready yet. It's almost there now.

Gastonia NC also has the Carolina Pinball Arcade Museum! Check it out!
I thought he paid 40k for both posters. Not just one
My proudest moment ever.
Thank you for your excellent video ❤and time! Happy new year and Kind Regards from AmpleSound virtual instrument maker!
Can't wait to visit your shop Rick. 1st thing im doing is sniffing the place, lol.
You know you're watching too many Retro Rick videos when you remember the store he bought the t-shirt he's wearing
For collecting I prefer the plastic. For selling I prefer the topper on toys. Toppers can bring potential business. Do you have a affiliate link to get some toppers made?
Super cool store nothing like that where I live!!
Oh my god, this is local to me! Like, I was literally there earlier. Never would've thought it would've been on here. Great place.
That's entertainment in Worcester mass, would be your cup of tea.
Rick, that guy said "hands down" that cards sell the best for him! I have 60+ GPK signed sketch cards. I also have 20+ GPK limited number cards. Let me know if you're interested!
Do it Rick! Get that stadium events!
Exactly.

Gastonia isn't a short drive, but I may have to venture up there soon. That store looks STOCKED
Amazing game shop. Wish my city had something like that.
North carolina in the house best game store in charlotte area
The legend of dragoon callout... This man is a true legend and knows his shit ahah
LOVE your TEB shirt. That vinyl is hard to find (original red release)

George definitely did that on purpose so people couldn’t guess the ending. He’s done stuff like the before.
The ps1 selection is insane!!
Covid ruined this, whiskey, etc. pricing. 400+ for a PS1 game? That’s just outrageous. Thanks internet
My local game stores keep the games in the box. They wrap them in plastic. One of them does keep the switch games behind the counter though.
I don't think I could spend 18K in store credit all at once.
You'd be surprised how quick even that kind of money would spend. Especially if you decide to fill out an entire collection you want of any kind. Some of the retro stuff can go for crazy money now a days thanks to youtube.
18k is an AMAZING price for stadium events, you should have jumped the second she made that offer
Where is the location of this store?
This guy knows his stuff … legend of dragoon problaby best game ever
I can't blame him: I would rather have Harley Davidsons than those standees as well. Lol
you can ride the standees.
Please, never say turts again.... other than that, awesome vid in an awesome store! What a setup and collection of stuff!!
Waiting for *Toy Federation* to comment 😂
I wish we had such kind of great shops over here in Germany. I envy you guys 😂
Why? Uou can download and play any pf these games for free?
Sure Bro, but you dont find such cool Retro Games Store over here. With good stuff!
Ricko about that stadium events trade with the girl... tell her your concern & why your on the fence about it.
