    About the "compression strap" for the top section to pull the stuff inside together, you can use long velcro straps ( the kind that loop back thru a buckle) around the circumference. I figured this out when the compression straps on my cheap backpacks came apart and I had no real way to sew them back on. So now I just carry 2 extra long velcros (80cm I think).

    Solid video, thank you. Lower background music volume a bit more next time, your voice is still competing with it. Thanks for the review!

    The Talon 22 is my favorite daypack. It’s light but also has hip belts for heavier loads. I also use it as my bike backpack with a hydration bladder. It’s never bulky and it conforms to my back.

      Agree. This pack has been my go-to for awhile now. We almost always use hydration bladders too and it carries them nicely. Thanks for the comment!

    I'm glad you mentioned about the ice axe loop. My gripe about it is the cinch above is too low on the pack so this means that the two points of contact on the axe to the pack is too close together making most of the axe still swing around. I wish they just slightly modified it to make it more compatible with ice tools cuz it makes for a good alpine/snow hiking pack too.

      My guess is that this was really designed as a day hike pack. Using the axe loops and the tie off do work but ultimately, there are other packs that would probably work better for ice or snow climbing if that's what you do most. I also think that if they had a pick sleeve that would help keep the axe from swinging. In any case, hope the pack works out for you!

      Sawback Gear I already have an Osprey Daylite pack which I really like, but wanted a larger pack for day-long hikes. All reviews I saw for the Talon 22 were very positive.

    I was going to buy the pack from you guys because the review was so good but I see your site isn't working! Keep up the consistent upload of great reviews and stock items you recommend and I can see people definitely buying the things you recommend

    Great review. What are the thoughts on using this for a 1-night backpacking trip where you’d need a tent, some food, etc.?

    • @sawbackgear6119
      @sawbackgear6119  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      RussC,
      It depends on the size of the tent, I suppose. Being a smaller day pack, interior space is a little limited. Still, for its class, there is quite a decent amount of space available. You could certainly fit a small tent like the Nemo Hornet 2P inside. With some creativity you may be able to carry a full sleep system but you would be very pressed for space. This pack is best used for day hikes and short outings.

    Is there a loop or bungee for the handle of the ice axe near the top of the pack, or just the bottom loop?

    • @sawbackgear6119
      @sawbackgear6119  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Sorry if that wasn't clear. There is a bungee style cord to hold the handle in place once the bottom loop is engaged. Thanks for the comment!

    good review but the backgroud music is distracting/annoying, you mention it accepts water bladder but don't mention which sizes it holds

    • @sawbackgear6119
      @sawbackgear6119  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comments! The pack will hold a 3L bladder no problem. We use the Osprey 3L but I think it should hold other bladders as well. Which reservoir do you use? Let us know! Yeah, the music got a little loud on this one. We're watching that for the future. Thanks again!

    Should I get this or the Skarab?

    • @sawbackgear6119
      @sawbackgear6119  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think it really depends on personal preference. I was looking for a really versatile pack which would work for different circumstances. This pack works great for everything from day hiking to a summit bag for me. We don't have any experience with the Skarab but it looks like that model only has a substantially hip belt once you get to a 30 litre pack. For me, I wanted the hip belt with a smaller pack size and the Talon fit the bill. Let us know if you get the Skarab and your experience with it! Have fun and be safe!
