Former head of the hotels, his go-to power move was to make everything as cheap as it could be to the point that the VIPs who came year after year started to notice how chintzy everything had become. The reason people wanted him out of that position was it was impacting park performance! So you make him the head of everything??? Dumb, dumb, dumb.

The only damage this bad pr will do is to Disney's relationship with the politicians they were giving public money to in order to get political favors. Even then all this means is that they'll stop donating for a few months then when they start coming out with their next series of MCU films and everyone loves them again they'll start hiring politicians kids/cousins/etc to be extras or staff and give them cushy jobs as an apology.
Nobody Disney wants to give money to in order to get political favors is going to go without that money for long.

When you're so bad at running a business that your attempt to be in the middle and stay out of the spotlight to please both sides backfires so spectacularly that you have to pick a side that will put you at odds with the political party who will cut your taxes and depower unions and remove workers rights. It's like those odd comedies where the main character accidentally does the right thing when they were actively either trying to do the wrong thing or run and hide away from the situation.
Before all this I knew of a few people who were trying to defend him and saying give him a chance but now I don't think that you'd find many arguing that he should remain in charge, all he seems to do is create PR nightmares and not show up/be forced to events, sure they may have been great at their previous job but they clearly aren't cut out for their current role.

There's something deliciously satisfying about Disney's CEO finding himself in a no-win situation of his own making, doubly so because it's a situation he deliberately tried to avoid: by not picking a side, which in his mind meant he could theoretically appeal to both sides, he wound up being the target of both sides. It really is surreal to watch this play out, like, it's not just fans and potential customers, people within Disney are actively rebelling against this dumbass! It's incredible!

Chapek will likely be looking for a new job soon... and the deliciously dark irony of it all is that not only do GOOD people rightly despise him for trying to have his cake and eat it too, but the Neo-Nazis and the Grand Ol' Patriarchy won't be taking any more money from a company "so clearly on the dole from George Soros." Hell, not even a week after this nonsense went down, Ben Shapiro announced that his fashy propaganda-factory, The Daily Wire, would be producing children's media "to counter the obvious woke-propaganda of Soros-controlled Disney."

2:27 oh yeah. I remember Amazon Prime's Cinderella. I think I dislike it more now than when I watched the movie.
5:02 that's the slap everyone is talking about? Really? Wow, I care even less now.

My thought on the slap are well-worn cliches: "fuck with the bull, get the horns", "paybacks are hell" and "what were you expecting?" Oh and "be glad it was Will because Jada would have made you very dead."

This was genuinely a list of "Something something something" and I somehow followed all of it. It was genuinely the most pure river of thought I've ever heard. Good on you Bob for managing to convey most of that plot through sheer feeling and ordering.

I really can't understand how Chapek got to be CEO without already understanding how these things work. Those political donations have been flowing for so long they're on direct deposit at this point. And especially in Florida where the politicians are batshiat crazy, and through the whole disaster that has been the Republican party for the last half century since Watergate, you'd think they'd all understand that all communication about these issues is crisis communication and it needs to be handled as such to minimize exposure and damage. He should have the pre-approved canned response to any of these questions on a laminated card glued to the desk in front of his phone from day 1. What a clown show. I'd call it looney tunes, but that's Warner Brothers.

I can only imagine what Walt Disney, who spent so much time and energy into putting Disneyworld in Florida, would have thought of DeSantis treating the state's biggest employer like this.
