As a child in grade school back in the 70s, I can tell you that was ALOT of money back then. You could buy TWO brand new cars back then and still have plenty of money left over. It would be like winning $80,000 in 2017. Those were the days!
that was almost cruel what Charles Nelson Reilly did by prolonging the answer but extremely entertaining and very funny I'm really into these episodes I watch it almost every night Thanks for the Memories
@ajpecanic Thing is, they could have the current comedians, actors & such, but without the magic of Gene hosting, Johnny O announcing, and Brett, Charles, & Richard being regulars, I don't think a new version of the show would last. The 1990 version was probably the closest to the 70's version out of the three that were made, but due to a bad time slot, soap opera actors, & Ross Shaffer not being as good as Gene or original host Bert Convy, that's what did it in. Just enjoy the 70's.
Unusual for the time period, Brett openly hints at CNR's homosexuality, when he says "I was the hero" and Brett immediately answers "or the heroine, as the case may be." Charles was always one of my favorites, both on this and on Lidsville.
@@SuperC888 it was a kids show in the late 1960s/early 1970s that was…interesting to say the least. Lots of green screen special effects and goofy stories with over the top acting. I’ve been trying to find episodes around but haven’t yet. I was really young when it was on but have some fun memories of Charles flying around in a thing that looked like an upside down hat of some sort.
Its 2022 & It’s still a lot of money! $18,000 in 1974 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $102,650.39 today, an increase of $84,650.39 over 48 years.
dude this game show is so badass because you have 7 game show hosts, gene is phenomenal with his bad teeth, and lets not forget the family feud romantic richard, charles and brett together, how would you occupy that? sharon osbourne and elton john?
I never get tired of this show! I remember watching it when I would get home from school in the 70's. Absolutely the best ever!
moonpie99 Popular with the college crowd too in '74.
This is best episode of Match Game I’ve ever seen! So exciting!!
I LOVE how Charles teases Janet during the Super Match
Love Gene Rayburn, he made this show a blast! Thank you for this upload.Love Charles, one of my favorites!
They were extra happy and silly with this bunch of characters. Made for a very fun time.
Charles is freaking great. And I love Richard's Stan Laurel, ha ha.

Patti Deutch and Fannie Flagg together... that didn't happen often.
Two redheads 👩🏻🦰👩🏻🦰

I miss this show
For a second, during the contestant intros, I thought Gene was gonna say "King Kong." :)

Re:that and her line "Did he say he was a King looking for a queen? I someone in mi-ahahahahnd!"
What’s Lidsville?

Apparently this program was a remake of an extinct 1960's show that was much much tamer .
The contestant looks like she's gonna faint the whole show.
They actually had FUN on this show.
"boy is my husband going to be nice to me" lmfao
Oh my gosh, Charles!!!!!! He wouldn't have done that if they hadn't matched ;)
I was the hero.
Back when CNR couldn't have a husband so it had to be Jack K.
That was a lot of money in those days! Sigh, what have we become?

Make me old. I was 13 years old.
We are old ☺️😎
Thomas Dickensheets • I was 20
Her winnings in 1974 money would be almost $ 90,000 !!
thesilencer1969 Lots of people in '74 did not even make that in a year even with a full time job.
Having fun doesn't cause "brain shrinkage". However, NOT having fun will lead you to be an unbalanced person. Lighten up and just enjoy life.
she acts just like the mom on That 70s Show. I absolutely love Brett's glasses. they were a little outdated by 74, but they were awesome.
Can’t stand Brett. Or her glasses!
Donald Ross, you may remember him as wriing such movies as Hamburger: The Motion Picture

@DENo1MatchGameFan Good point. Still, I'd love to see an updated version of the show with Norm MacDonald on the panel.
Sadly, Norm’s dead
17:16 "This Box Supported By Donations" What the?
Patti actually matched one in the first round.
I didn't think the "my husband is going to be nice to me now" was funny. It implies that he is not nice to her. I also see it in his eyes.
She does look terrified...
and he looks like a real asshole.
What was Donald Ross from? I don't remember him at all.
He's Mr. Patty Deutsch. More of a writer than performer, but he did a ton of Tattletales with Patti and Bert Convy.
that jack klugman one was NOT a round 1 question.
@magiconesgirl Check out the 1998 version - it WON'T happen again - the chemistry is missing!
do you have the episode following this one?
I just don’t care.. how fun is that !! Over $ 18,000
DO YOU SEE PRESENT CELEBRITIES DO THIS...BEST SHOW EVER
It's sad that out of the 6 panelists and Gene Reyburn only Fannie Flagg is still alive.
As well as : Elaine Joyce, Jo Ann Pflug and Joyce Bulifant.
(Note: there’s a Jo & 2 Joyces! ) Jo Jo Jo !!
@@SuperC888 if you saw the other three women during this episode then who am I to judge?
Jo Anne Worley, Gary Burghoff, Marcia Rodd, and Adrienne Barbeau are also still alive.
Odd to see two of the loveable dummies in the same episode. Fannie AND Patty?
Charles Nelson Reilly is no Walter Cronkite.
new high score from a rigged round 1 question.
Some of the dumbest television... ever. Not much of a choice back then seeing we didn't have cable TV. Just made you want to jump off a tall building.
