What I like about chapter one and this game is Sherlock is still young. According to his birthday and that a study in scarlet is in 1881 if I remember correctly- he would be 27 when he met Watson and had that study in scarlet case.
I've enjoyed these games for a long time. I haven't played all of them but the first one I played was Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the Ripper way back in 2009. Since then I've played nearly all of the releases spanning Xbox 360, PS4 and now PS5. Earlier this year I played Chapter One and it was fantastic. Loved it. These games just draw you right in and I've always found Sherlock Holmes a fascinating character. I haven't gotten a chance to play Awakened yet but I'm excited to!
You said Cthulhu and I’ve pause the video because I’m not going to spoil another second of this game I am immediately going to find a playthrough and watch the heck out of this game.
Honestly man, I'd say don't get to excited about the Cthulu aspects being at the forefront! It's more the vibe and atmosphere being the backdrop. If you've not played The Sinking City (by the same devs) I'd suggest that! X
@@playit2724 I meant more like after you said “Cthulhu” as in, a game where Sherlock Holmes is in a situation with an actual metaphysical being. The idea of a purely logical person in an illogical situation like that sounded so interesting. I don’t actually care too much about Cthulhu, and I actually hate H P Lovecraft. It was more so the “Sherlock in a situation he can’t logic himself out of.”
I’ve played this version of The Awakened myself, and while I did enjoy much of the game and it’s linear journey, what made it fail to me was the fact that even after you *see* everything that would prove the events Sherlock sees are false, you are forced to make Sherlock delve into insanity. I really wish you would have been able to save him and keep his mind intact. It felt like such a departure from who Sherlock is.
Sinking City is also pretty good. It’s got some branching as well with impact to the plot. I don’t always like the run around but the story is usually pretty good and the environment are pretty if a bit cobbled together and bare sometimes.
Plus this is a remake. Original game release 2007 and it's different in many way. The Original version was a first person game. But I like this remake very much. 👌

The Testament of Sherlock Holmes is pretty solid. Very good mature Holmes story.
I guess I love Chapter one. Though I'm fond of all of the titles I have played from them.

Was thinking about picking this up, just completed sinking city which is another lovecraftian dectecive game. Im hoping this is as good.
I much preferred Sinking City (much less slower paced than this game) but this definitely carries the same atmosphere!

The Sinking City was great I was a little bummed when I had completed everything in the game. I just wanted it to keep going.
i can say that sinking city and the call of cthulhu are way better and more enjoyable for lovecraft fans than sherlock holmes the awakened

Actually they must have made some side quest like chapter one which would have been great after completing story
