    How do we water our plants? What do we need to think about when we are determining to water our plants or not? These are some of the fundamental questions we need to ask ourselves and understand if we are to water our plants correctly!
    If we underwater or overwater our plants that means they are not living in the best equilibrium possible, and are thus not growing their very best. There are a number of different things I like to think about when I get a new plant that helps me to determine how often I should be watering it. In this video I seek to break down all these questions so you can go forth and water your plants with confidence! #houseplants #tropicalplants #indoorgarden

    Only found this channel a few weeks ago, I love your videos! As someone who is both a plant parent and biology major in college I love how you include both aspects of plant care!

    Kudos, hands down the most informative and comprehensive watering video I have ever seen. Those little cues you emphasize from knowing the plants geographic origins and all the others to determine moisture needs are immensely helpful. You even taught this "old timer" a thing or two. Much appreciated!

    I LOVE the advice on visualization! I am a clinical herbalist in training and we talk about this so much. It’s important to visualize the plant thriving in its environment as it could be similar to how that plant helps us thrive in ours. I sent this video to my partner who’s super scared to take care of our houseplants while I’m recovering from a surgery; tips like visualization help people approach with curiosity instead of fear.

    This was super helpful! All points I have been trying to keep in mind. Another factor I consider is humidity. Here in NorthEast Ohio it’s very dry in the house due to the cold and snow. I struggle to keep my bedroom over 40% and the rest of the house is about 30%. I keep bowls and trays of water near my moisture loving plants and I have to do some misting. Must work ok though, my tropical hibiscus and kalanchoe are blooming and my thanksgiving cactus is budding. I even have a lantana that I brought indoors in the fall and it is thriving! It even bloomed last month!

    Hi Devin! Thank you for these videos, they are very helpful. Question: Is it better to water house plants in the day or evening...or does it even matter? Thanks!

    • @plantvibrations
      @plantvibrations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I always tend to water in the morning but I don’t think it really matters unless your home gets substantially cooler at night

    Hi Devin. I found this helpful. At the end of the video you were sitting at the table. What is the name of the plant in the background and what are its requirements? I believe I have it and it isn’t doing very well. Only 2 leaves hanging in there. I am getting some new growth. Hope you can help me! Thank you!

    I have a question about watering: is it suggested to water on top, or alternatively, to put some water down (like in a pot with no holes) and then place a plant inside a pot with holes so they soak it up? (Please correct me on my language since I really don't know the names of things!)

    • @plantvibrations
      @plantvibrations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha you’re good! I recommend watering on the soil. And depending on the plant you can let water remain in the base of the pot or if it’s a more dry loving plant it would be best to remove any excess water accumulation
