Keisha Michelle because I work, I started at 6pm and quit at midnight from Sunday til Sunday...ab 42 hrs. I wore my hair in a puff and started at the back. I retighten with a plastic needle I gor from Michael's. The look fantastic I'm still in love w/ them.
+mswattz thanks for responding! . Do you remember the brand of the needle or the type of needle it was at Michaels? I may try to start tomorrow. I'm sure it will take me a long time lol I get distracted to easily. Also was there a certain parting technique you used?
K Dot I found them in the knitting section where the looms are. There's 2 in a pack for ab 4 bucks. They look just like sewing needles but much bigger and plastic. I wedged something through the eye to open it it. it works like a charm.
My jaw just dropped! $750?! I'm in the wrong profession. lol. That was the main reason I decided to do them myself as well because where I live it was $400 and up. Well I'm sooo happy that my video was of help to you. Let me know your progress soon. :-)
I found this video months ago when I became obsessed with sisterlocks and learned the high cost of installing them and maintenance. I have never been one for going to a salon and have always maintained my own hair relaxed and now over three years natural. I love how thorough this video is on the technique of interlocking 👏👏👏👏 thank you so much for sharing. I will be installing my microlocs using this technique
Yes of course! :-) It will look different initially but when your hair starts to loc, the pattern of the two strand twist will eventually go away and you will just have beautiful locs. A lot of people who prefer not to sit down for a long period of time for an interlocking installation actually start with the method you've mentioned. Hope this helps.
This is the most detailed tutorial I've seen. So easy to follow. I've been reading and researching for months and I'm starting my loc journey this weekend and following this tutorial. Thanks for sharing.
You did a great job!!! I started my interlocking November 2, 2016 by my loctician. Because my hair was so short and fine my tips look more like sister locs but I bought some Taliban wajiid lock it up tight hold cream to smooth the ends. I'm excited about this journey!
Came across your pics on Pinterest and IG. Good job on your self-install and absolutely beautiful progress. How gratifying it must be to have done this yourself. I, on the other hand, happily sought a consultant for my Sisterlock establishment and maintenance 😊
Best tutorial I've seen so far my 21 yr old daughter wants this done to her hair and she's been natural for 3 yrs and its long that's how long I've been doing it Thanks great info ;)
thank you thank you thank you for this video I was looking everywhere on how to start my locs. you have by far the best method. I just finished my first loc and I'm so happy. well time to get them done I know I have a long way to go thanks again blessings to you
Yours is the best and easiest interlocking video on YT by far. I use your method but I end with a different tool. I think fingers are most natural and cause no snags. This is wonderful and you rock!
aaaaahhhmazing job! this is the best interlocking installation video i'v found. I wore locs for six years (palm roll method). then i cut them after college and have fluctuated between minifros and the svelte close cut for about 5 years now. I've loved it all--love being natural. now I'm thinking of installing interlocks. I have two small children as well and can't afford sisterlocks, but I have the patience to do my own hair--it's like a ritual for me!! Thanx!
Oh my goodness, how on earth have I missed this for so long? I have been looking for a locker in Cape Town with no luck for two years now. Thank you for this
First: you are absolutely gorgeous. Second: I am about to start my loc journey this summer after being 4 years natural. I was going to start my locs through braids, because that seemed the most feasible for my active lifestyle. But this video has made me rethink everything... I LOVE this method, and it will be worth the time it takes to do it. Thank you, sis!
Best bid on interlocking hands down! I started mine the first time with comb coils combed them out then did two strand twists now I want to start them again with this method I thought it would be easy but your explination helped me out a lot thanks so much u did an awesome job btw :)
I am on Day 7 of My #microtwists #twistlocs #finehairloc #interlocs #diylocs #interlocs #3pointrotation #Reverse4pattern #grayafro and I thank You for Your inspiration Sister Queen! My hair is Beautiful!!!
Lol. It was initially confusing for me at first too. Once you get used to it, it becomes second nature. Congrats on your year mark and thanks for the love.
I am sooooo glad I found your youtube channel. I started following you on instagram and LOVE your dreads. I started the interlocking process too with two strand twists and I am just like ugh lol. But now seeing what your hair is like now, I guess it is worth it.
I cannot wait to start mine. This is going to be my second set. The first set were cute, but not as small as I wanted and a big learning experience. I will be better the 2nd time around doing them myself.
This is a great video. I have been searching for a video that would help me install my own. Thanks also for the great advice; I will ensure that my husband is home to take care of the kids and that I have my paper done for class before Saturday =) Please share an update of what they look like now and how the tightening process has went for you.
awesome job I am truly inspired! I have shoulder length hair so I'm sure I will need a week to finish. I own wigs so the transition will be a success!! THANK YOU😊😊
Hello. New subbie here and yeah, your BL's.....they look super good!!! I'm about to get mine tomorrow. So I'm feeling too excited!!! Yep, cheers to the both of our journey's!!!
OMG! I have wondered how to start from the very beginning with interlocking. I am 2.5 months into my loc journey and started with palm rolling. Although I have started to bud, I am thinking about starting over with interlocking, tfs.
your hair is so cute and this video helped so much, i started putting in my locs yesterday, no where done lol. thanks and i'll continue to wach your videos.
great work....I have been interloced since April but with work and life I just pay to get it done and I an in and out with a shampoo in 2 hours. Your hair looks great!!!!!!!!
I'm late, but they are cute. I've been wanting to loc for a good 7-8 years and for the past few months I've been watching several videos. I like the results, because I just bought the "business in a box" I believe from the NappyLoc website. I pray mines look this great when I finish.
You did a fantastic job! Heck 3 days is great with what you had going on. A stylist would have been 2-3 days any way! Codos! I'm going to do mine now, you've motivated me. I am a stylist myself and just can't see paying all that money for something I can do...it just takes time. Thanks for the motivation!
You're welcome. :-) I did not use any product at all when I started my locs. It's best to start on really squeaky clean hair. Maybe a little mist of water to soften the hair when it gets too dry.
Beautiful, and great video! I decided to get my hair interlocked instead of sisterlocs. I was a bit nervous about my decision, then came across your video. My installation is 9 Dec. If my hair comes out half as good as yours I will be ecstatic!
Okay So I've been thinking about getting dreads and after this video (and many many many more and research!!) I'm starting mines today!! Yup!! SO EXCITED!!
No it shouldn't prevent your hair from locking. Your hair will loc up regardless of how your hair is parted. However if you are not satisfied with your parts now, you will not be happy with them when your locs mature. Its best to fix the problem now before its too late. And parting does play a major role in how your locs will turn out. If you have some parts that are bigger than others then it is a possibility that some locs will be thicker than others. It just depends. Hope this helps.
Oh yes!!! LOL! I lost so much length, especially after I did the first wash. It is annoying at first but Im used to it now. If my hair wasn't loc'd, it would be past my shoulders.
OMG thank you so much !!!! this was soooo helpful talk about living on the perfect budget lol Im a DIY from installation- thanks to you I used my hands too- to retightening using the bead tool lol I have always done my hair myself from weaves color relaxer etc now Im officially locked thanks again sooooo much there should be an award for this lol
I follow you on Instagram (@riecyspieces), and your locs are one of the best examples I've found as a guide for the size I want mine to be. I just started from the bottom of your IG and went through your comments like a stalker (lol) until I saw you mention the method you used to start and maintain your locs. Kudos for doing them yourself under those circumstances!!! Thank you for making the video. I've heard the interlocking term for a while now, and your video was the most clearest explanation, visually and verbally, as far as a how-to guide. I'm strongly considering starting my loc journey with this method. Didn't mean to write a short story, but I appreciate you sharing with us! Thank you!
Thank you! I actually purchased both sizes. I knew they were going to being skinny at first so I bought the 1/4 to be on the safe side. I no longer use the 1/4 though.
(Cont...) I also use 100% organic tea tree oil and peppermint oil to stimulate my scalp. Stimulating the scalp increases circulation which helps prevent stunting. Just mix a few drops of each in a spray bottle filled with water and spray daily. Your hair grows approx. 1/2 inch a month so you just have to be patient. ;-) But you can slow down the growing process by having a clogged or dirty scalp. I washed my hair once a week. I go longer between washes now though. Hope this helps.
thank you so much for this tutorial!!!! i had been searching for so long for the right one and this is definitely it! ur hair looks great and you made it so simple and easy to understand! now im going to watch the one on maintenance thanks again i have always wanted to be able to do my hair myself just the way i want it and now i finally can!
your hair looks so good and the parts are super neat! i'm jealous haha. i started a set of locs a couple days ago, but i'm not completely satisfied. i like how yours look like locs already! i might restart them with this method but idk yet. thanks for sharing!
nice job! out of experience for the rotation, if you can get the 3 to 9 in and you only have a little room left close to the scalp, just take it down from 12 to 6 and that way your lock will hand down. It will be secure!
I did the four point rotation. I don't think it is possible to do a two point. Well it is possible but it will not come out right at all. Doing that will leave holes in your locs. You can do a three point rotation. From my understanding, the three point is for those who have a looser curl pattern. Hope that helps.
It depends on the length of the hair and the size that you want your locs to be for example your parts. If the person is looking for locs that are my size, then it will take longer than a day especially if their hair is longer. Hope this helps.
Hi there. Just wondering, do you always interloc or do you palm roll for your maintenance? I'm just getting started and I'm wondering whetherI can realistically maintain my own locs
I love this video thanks i can really see how to do it i've been looking into interlocking and now I have and idea of what to do you really gave a good up close look and you went slow enough so I could catch on cuz the rotation confused me too lol
I interlocked my hair last week using this tutorial and it turned out AMAZING!!!! ALLLL thanks to you!
How long did it take you?
Keisha Michelle because I work, I started at 6pm and quit at midnight from Sunday til Sunday...ab 42 hrs. I wore my hair in a puff and started at the back. I retighten with a plastic needle I gor from Michael's. The look fantastic I'm still in love w/ them.

mswattz how are your locks doing? did you part them around the same size? I'm considering doing this but I'm so nervous!
Dare I say you have the best video on interlocking I have seen! Excellent job! Then your schedule is crazy and you persevered. My hat goes off to you!
Yessssss 😍
My jaw just dropped! $750?! I'm in the wrong profession. lol. That was the main reason I decided to do them myself as well because where I live it was $400 and up. Well I'm sooo happy that my video was of help to you. Let me know your progress soon. :-)

Tamar A. did you do it?
Yes I did! Its been one year and 2 months now! I love my locs!
Tamar A. ok. I had locs for four years, combed them out 2 months ago and want it back now. So I'm gonna install it soon.
Tamar A. Do you have social media? I'd love to see your results!!
I do have social media, but I hardly ever post on my page as it relates to my locs, however, I do post in a microlocs group on Facebook.
These look AMAZING!!! Thank you so much for the detailed instructions.

THANK YOU THANK YOU!! This was EXACTLY what I was looking for! No one else was able to actually SHOW the locking method. YOU ARE AMAZING!
I love how you started your locks
This is the BEST video I’ve seen. Makes so much sense now. Thank you!!!
I used your method for my locs and its been 5 years. Thank you soo much!!
You did a great job!!! I started my interlocking November 2, 2016 by my loctician. Because my hair was so short and fine my tips look more like sister locs but I bought some Taliban wajiid lock it up tight hold cream to smooth the ends. I'm excited about this journey!
You did a wonderful job! You should get certified to do these for other ppl. It's good money and ppl would be happy with your work.
Came across your pics on Pinterest and IG. Good job on your self-install and absolutely beautiful progress. How gratifying it must be to have done this yourself. I, on the other hand, happily sought a consultant for my Sisterlock establishment and maintenance 😊

You just saved my life...I was going to travel and pay way too much money to get my hair done and maintained. Thank You So look much for this video
finally! a vid that shows the beginning process. i already know how to tighten the roots, just needed to learn how to start from scratch. Thanks much!
Yours is the best and easiest interlocking video on YT by far. I use your method but I end with a different tool. I think fingers are most natural and cause no snags. This is wonderful and you rock!
Thank you! I didn't use any product when I first started my locs. It's best to start on squeaky clean hair. Hope this helps.
Thank God for you love!! Because of your video I purchased my own Nappyloc tool and completed my set today. Thanks again!!
You did an awesome job demonstrating how to start sisterlocks. We had been debating in our home on how it is done. Thank you for taking time to teach.
aint no way I'm doing all that but looks good
I had a friend do mine following her guidance
aaaaahhhmazing job! this is the best interlocking installation video i'v found. OMG this technique looked like Chinese arithmetic but it looks Fabulous!! Will you come to Florida and do my hair please lol

U are amazing I will never do my own hair
I just started with micro braids in my natural hair and then interlocked from there. Way faster, no unraveling, etc.
Regina Patrice they’re braidlocs but with microbraids.
I am on Day 7 of My #microtwists #twistlocs #finehairloc #interlocs #diylocs #interlocs #3pointrotation #Reverse4pattern #grayafro and I thank You for Your inspiration Sister Queen! My hair is Beautiful!!!
If you always try to end from the 12 to 6 rotation you wont have the fly aways. you did an awesome job. Im a DIYer myself. saves lots of money
Lol. It was initially confusing for me at first too. Once you get used to it, it becomes second nature. Congrats on your year mark and thanks for the love.

Excellent job! I'm a loctician and I seldom see such great and need work from someone doing it themselves. You're like "Supermom!"
I'm definitely doing this now. No doubt. Psoriasis, and all. Thanks for the inspiration and motivation to do this. 🙏🏾
Thank you sssssoooooooo much for this! I will be starting my locs with this method in a few months. Can you do this with thicker locs?
I'm abou 6 years loc'd, I would love to watch your progress. I love your parts.
awesome job I am truly inspired! I have shoulder length hair so I'm sure I will need a week to finish. I own wigs so the transition will be a success!! THANK YOU😊😊

This video was extremely informative 👏🏽 and thanks for showing how to make the knot!
Joyce MD sent me here...Day 12, loc newbie! Great vid...thx for the share!
This is the best diy installation Ive seen. Very neat! Great Job!

@@amandalivingston76 I did have them installed, and love them! Again, thanks for your informative video!

You hair is absolutely gorgeous! You did a beautiful job. I also follow your ig and your hair has grown beautifully.

STILL HERE FOR IT!!!! #2022 This should have over 1 million views 🙌🏾💯✊🏿❤️😇💕
OMG thank you so much !!!! this was soooo helpful talk about living on the perfect budget lol Im a DIY from installation- thanks to you I used my hands too- to retightening using the bead tool lol I have always done my hair myself from weaves color relaxer etc now Im officially locked thanks again sooooo much there should be an award for this lol

best (self teaching by finger) I've seen. Thanks and nice dimples
Love this video, i just ordered the lock tool off AMAZON. Currently rocking coils until Wednesday..lol

Excellent job. They look beautiful.
Great tutorial, you showed how easy it is..thank you! I wonder if you had shrinkage after washing your hair? Looks beautiful on you.
Ooowee, this would take me forever and a day. I can definitely see the appeal, though.
Do you still have your locks? Could we see an update if you do? Good job with lighting and close up photography!
she does. check her out on instagram instagram.com/patience_edet/
Thank yu so much Ive looking all over youtube and yur the first to really show how to do it. THANKS
:-)
thank you so much for this tutorial!!!! i had been searching for so long for the right one and this is definitely it! ur hair looks great and you made it so simple and easy to understand! now im going to watch the one on maintenance thanks again i have always wanted to be able to do my hair myself just the way i want it and now i finally can!
Hi i am so glad i find our video on how to interlocking from the end of ur hair to the root but i want to know will my locks brake if i do them small
Yay! I am happy to hear that my video was helpful. :)
your hair looks so good and the parts are super neat! i'm jealous haha. i started a set of locs a couple days ago, but i'm not completely satisfied. i like how yours look like locs already! i might restart them with this method but idk yet. thanks for sharing!
Very nice, seems like it would take a really long time.
nice job! out of experience for the rotation, if you can get the 3 to 9 in and you only have a little room left close to the scalp, just take it down from 12 to 6 and that way your lock will hand down. It will be secure!
I did the four point rotation. I don't think it is possible to do a two point. Well it is possible but it will not come out right at all. Doing that will leave holes in your locs. You can do a three point rotation. From my understanding, the three point is for those who have a looser curl pattern. Hope that helps.
great job.. finally a video that shows how to do it
Looks amazing.. I know how to do them I'm just wondering if anyone has an install vid with extensions. But you look amazing!!
Im trying to dread/interlock my hair nd i think i found the right video thank you so much.
Awww thank you! Im so happy to hear that! You should be done by now. Hope they turned out great! :-)
beautiful i just want to thank you for explaining the process i am excited to get the tool and start my sister locks!
Did you use any product when you first started your locks? They look so good! I want to do mine myself as well.
I absolutely love your starter locs and will use this as my tool . Thank you!
Thank you for this video! I have been searching for this for so long. Awesome video
Yay! I hope they turn out the way you want them this time around! Let me know how it goes.
Good job girl! It looks just as good as if you had spent $500 at a salon!
Going to start mine exactly like this in December when my hair is approximately 5 in.
Sa'Nae Pinckney if ur interested in seeing her hair now look in the info section for her instagram!
I love this video thanks i can really see how to do it i've been looking into interlocking and now I have and idea of what to do you really gave a good up close look and you went slow enough so I could catch on cuz the rotation confused me too lol
Awesome work! So neat and the parting looks great.
