I have always had a massive crush on Onslow. He's just so cute! My daughter bought me the complete box set of Keeping Up Appearances two years ago for Christmas "because I know you fancy the fat bloke in it, Mum". He's not a fat bloke, he's Onslow! Xx
RIP Geoffrey Hughes! Onslow was one of a kind (thank God!). Miss him and Mary Millar. This show used to make my Saturday nights watching the Brit Com's on PBS. (My mom couldn't stand Hyacinth. She'd leave the room when it was on!!) And I always loved it when Daisy would shake Onslow's belly when she got excited and she'd shake her legs in bed, too. She was always reading romance novels and Onslow watched Open University. So many wonderful memories of this program!
That " Bad Luck " bit was excellent writing. Probably one of the best Onslow and Daisy exchanges and a perfect example of the differences in the way men and women think.
Something nobody points out is that even though Daisy and Onslow may appear to be boneidle, they take care of Daddy, and anyone who has ever taken care of an elderly person knows that it's a full-time job

When Daisy describes Onslow as 'magic', that scene encapsulated their relationship in one word. While others may see Onslow in a less charitable light, Daisy still sees Onslow as she 1st met him and the emotions that went along with that moment decades ago. Well done writers.

Onslow is really a very likable character, even though he’s far from perfect. He’s a contrast to Hyacinth because he is so laid back and easy going, in contrast to her demanding and judge mental nature. Daisy also is good natured and not much like her sister.

They both wish that they had it as good as Onslow! No job stress, His wife adores him and spoils him rotten. Not much into much fancy dress party trouble. Their only daughter's grown and never home, Daisey's other 2 sister's (Hyacinth and Violet) only visit ocassionally. Her Daddy has a pension, stays in his room and rarely gets just a bit scampy.

I enjoy immensely watching this show over and over again. One of the best British TV shows. Onslow is a wonderful man, a bit of a bear, a bit sexy, and nicely lazy but always so helpful and with feet on the ground.
Onslow asked Daisy why she keeps reading romance novels. She said it's me last foot 'old in romance I get very little practice i can at least keep abreast of theory. Lol
I bet the cast would have been rolling around the floor laughing when they first got the script in each episode. Especially things like “I wish you wouldn’t lie there looking criminally attractive while I’m reading a passionate love story,” Just brilliant! 😂😂

Does anyone remember when the Bucket's bought that apartment in the country? That teeny tiny kitchen and when Richard and Hyesenth got stuck together? Then at the end of that episode when it was Daisy and Onslow stuck the same way! That was also the episode when Emmett jumped up when he spilled his lemonade and the ice shocked him and his head went through the ceiling! And there was more! One of the funniest episodes.
Missed one of the best parts where where he's in bed with his wife and he says something like "I used to go with some right slapper years ago" when he explains to his wife his wife says "that was me" "oh ye"
Poor old Richard. How could he not end up skirt whipped by his relentlessly overbearing wife? The episode where he finally snapped and told her to STFU and leave that innocent person at the phone booth ALONE made us all cheer for him!

A Round Head was the nickname of the pro Parliament rebels during the English Civil War and the Cavaliers were the pro royal forces. The British for some reason love doing Civil War reenactments, and you are either the Round Head or the Cavalier. The Cavaliers are the much better dressed, even though they always lose, lol
Geoffrey and Judy made that show. Pattie girl Rootledge was o.k. but her Husband and the aforementioned made that show. to this day Pat' Rootledge was actually a supporting actor
