This remake is going to be a unique situation, there’s never been a remake where it’s been so exciting & looks great but at the same time cause as much controversy as this has
The fact that this has so much controversy is sad to me lmao the game looks amazing and that’s all that matters to me. No one hates on persona like persona fans I guess
The complaint about FeMC not being included is valid, but I really think it’s disingenuous to suggest it’s as simple as a model change and recoloring some assets. There would be tons of animation edits, script changes, and voice acting additions that would need to be made. It isn’t just a toggle for “Male -> Female” and “Blue -> Pink”.
I also fully agree with this sentiment. Look I get it...FemC means a lot to people. For some she’s the ONLY preferred way to experience P3. With that being said though you half to take into consideration actual game development, resources and budget. Essentially what you end up with is one big mega game (if we are also counting the answer) game development isn’t some big magic wand everyone can use to poof everything into existence. At the end of the day I don’t think this remake was going to really make everyone happy. It’s just that we didn’t expect the outcry to be....well this big 😅
They've also said that all social links will be fully voiced something they definitely wouldn't have done if they added FeMC. Also the answer is more of grind as there are no social links or side activities to break up the dungeon crawling.
Also, now that interviews are suggesting that the social links are fully voiced, adding the alternate social links for FeMC would be A LOT of new voice acting.
This is pretty much one of the major reasons some fans like myself were basically against the idea that Persona 3 "NEEDED" a remake. The original, FES and Portable are still perfectly fine ways to play the game and yeah to include everything from those games like The Answer, FeMC, all of the social links, super bosses, plus having all the links be voiced and more than likely including more Personas, ontop of having new soundtracks.....yeah its ALOT of work that many Persona fans are completely ignorant about how long it was take to make, aswell as how much it would cost to make. Atlus are not a developer with hundreds and hundreds of staff, they're certainly smaller than the likes of Ubisoft, Activision and such so they really have to prioritize what they do with their budgets. I'm still looking forward to P3R but yeah it sadly shows how little people consider what wanting full remakes actually entails.
I really hope the Answer gets remade. It's the official epilogue of P3, it's canon and its themes of moving on from one's death complements the themes of P3 of accepting that death is inevitable, perfectly. It deserves to be remade.
I wish we could get Kotone in a proper Persona experience. I had fun with P3P, but having her in 3D environments (outside of Tartarus) would have been so amazing! As for the answer, I don´t care about the gameplay, but I value the character writing in it, and it should be here. That being said, still very excited, and honestly, I know I´m part of the problem, but if Atlus does a "deluxe" version of reload a few years later with FeMC and the Answer I will probably buy it again.
Allegra Clark taking over Tara Platt’s role just gave me the idea of Dorothea asking Edelgard if she could play her part in a play or something, and I can’t get the image out of my head. Someone please make an animation about it.
Femc? Oh you mean the halfhearted gimmick to get old players to buy the visual novel they passed off as P3P? Also when "The Answer" was released in FES I distinctly remember the majority of the fanbase hating it claiming it "ruined the ending" because it cheapened the emotional punch of the original ending. Now suddenly people are upset that what they once either didn't care about or hated isn't there? Gotta love revisionist history.
I was REALLY hoping Atlus would FINALLY made a definitive Persona 3 game, with the content of all releases of the game. Even with this Remake coming, people will argue over FES, Portable, and Remake because of what content is there and what content is missing.
Not so much argue but rather just a unwanted flow chart. Play Reload> Watch or emulate the answer (and if your REALLY that curious) > pick up portable and play the female route. Most of this is side content at the end of the day so no use arguing over which is the obvious go to version of the base game
@@BLIZZ2012 This should definitely be the definitive base game experience at least, something we couldn't say we had before. Fes lacked the QOL and P3P had that but not the cutscenes and 3d world. Here's hoping an improved version of the answer and Femc make it as dlc or something.
I'm really excited for the new voices, to be honest. The actress they got for Mitsuru is particularly talented, as anyone who played AI Somnium Files can attest to
@Lucas The Phantom Thief I think there could be 2 reasons. First of all, Junpei had to be recast no matter what. And besides that a lot of the OG P3 cast got a lot more expensive now. I don´t even want to know how much they would need to pay for Liam O´Brian now. So they probably recast them all to save money, and potentially because Junpei had to go anyway and to prevent having a single outlier with a new voice while everyone else is unchanged. Personally I think I kinda prefer everyone being new. I like a lot of those new VA´s and I´m excited to hear their interpretations of those characters. I´m already pretty confident that Dawn Bennett and Allegra Clark will kill it.
It’s so bizzare to me that this is the public opinion. Imo it is so unbelievably jarring to just have one voice actor replaced, like Persona 4 Golden or Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition.
"IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS" awesome analysis :) I too am also miffed about the lack of FEMC. I'm crossing my fingers that her story gets included in post-launch DLC, perhaps with the Answer campaign included as well, though I'm not sure how likely either scenario is. That all said, the number of QOL life improvements, new story events which will be added and new tunes to look forward to, I'm overall quite excited! ^_^ I can't wait for them to show more.
When it comes to Social Links, they already confirmed that a new "Social Link" like system will be added to give stories to characters that didn't have Social Links in the original. Personally, Kenji was my first Social Link in a Persona game, so I'm glad to see it return, wouldn't feel like P3 without him! I really don't want them changing much of the story or characters roles within the game from the base P3. Now, with that said: _I personally believe (With no evidence!)_ that we will get a new optional Epilogue that involves Kotone in some way, as well as changes the ending to P3 and in doing so would make the Answer uncanon. My reasoning is that this would explain why the developers were both willing to specify the FeMC and the Answer are being cut from the remake, but they were unwilling to give a reason. It's not like they want to flat out admit that there may be a big story twist in this version of the game, and would rather let players save that reveal for themselves. But I guess we'll have to see in the end, but either way this remake is looking exactly like what _I personally_ wanted from a P3 Remake!
I really liked the answers story and how it handles grief. Gameplay wise has so much room for improvement I want it remade so bad. FeMC's social links really are so much better and not being forced into a harem like Makoto was much appreciated. Some of the changes in the movies are also soo good that I am sad if they don't take some cues from it.
So really quickly i wanna specify that the text in the trailer says a bit more than just "dark hour", it's latin for "In the dark hour, while I breathe, I hope to be reborn"
p4g and p5r are waiting for you. i think you'll appreciate it more if you play some persona games plus this would be an easy way to pass the time waiting for this.
The reason why the FEMC isn't in is probably because it's extra work just to have her work. Reminder that it's not just a reskin, there's social links that differ from the MC and also all of the animated cutscenes.
i think you are forgetting for the FEMC route Atlus would have to not just reskin the protagonist. But also write additional Dialogue, add new music, and character models for her route to be complete as it was in portable. I personally think it should be include cause my criteria is to fix the issues from the original, add unique context, and to make it the complete version of the game like the resident evil 2 remake or medievil.
Not to entirely disagree with your point but just mentioning that RE2make is absolutely not a complete version of Resident Evil 2, considering if you're going by content added in later versions it was missing Extreme Battle. Not to mention the content it had missing from the original PS1 version of RE2 like the Zapping feature, the unique A and B scenarios, interactions between Claire and Leon outside the beginning and ending, costumes, bosses, puzzles, areas and enemies.
don't care what atlus has to do. the femc is such a vital part of the game for me and so many others. charging $70 for a version that doesn't have her is fucking outrageous
Honestly, the reason why FemC isn't in the game is kind of obvious. Atlas already ported Portable. If they put her in the Remake, then it would invalidate Portable's entire existence and cost them money. That'd essentially be a defunct product they'd be selling on the PC as FemC is one of the main selling points for the game. Yes, there's other positives surrounding the game making it a potential choice to pick. However, the biggest draw always was FemC. It was pretty much a given that if Atlas remade P3 after releasing Portable that they weren't going to add her in. Even beyond that, the amount of assists and work to implement her is simply way too much to add on top of a from the ground up remake. It simply was never a viable or profitable decision for Atlus to do. The Answer suffers the same issues as they'd have to remake those assets as well in 3D and it'd be way too much time and effort for a controversial aspect of the game. Better to scrap it for potential DLC or altogether and just focus on the Base game. It was ultimately the most practical decision they could make. As such, I'm not really that upset over it as it was a decision that I could see them making since Portable was ported.
As someone who has never played Persona 3, hearing the reaction to the remake with all the info out is fascinating. At this point I'm just curious if/when it will be coming to Switch, as I might pick it up over Portable
Personally, I'm still really excited for this. Lack of FeMC and the Answer is disappointing, but even then it's still Persona 3. I never got to beat the original Persona 3 (only made it halfway through before my PS2 broke) and since then I've been waiting for a better way to play the game. I like all the changes I've seen so far, and some of the new stuff sounds exciting. They're adding side stories for the male party members, so even if they're not social links we will still get stories similar to that. Also they said all the social links will be fully voiced, which is a first for the series. That has me very excited, and I can't wait.
No switch version is a no go for me, I don’t spend too much time at my department and playing on the go has been an excellent way of killing time between commuting 💔
I'm very torn on this remake. My experience is with FES, so I was really hoping that Kotone was going to be included in a hypothetical remake, as she seems like the route I would enjoy the most. If Atlus goes the route of making Kotone DLC with the Answer (which I wouldn't put past them), then I really hope the effort put into them justifies it at least. In general, I have issues with the structure and pacing of Persona 3, so I'm hopeful that this remake can address those issues before we even get to those.
Someone who also reacted for FemC (Kotone), I think it was Crystahl, she was also upset she wasn't there, but gets it when she read why she can't be included. The director stated that they are first focusing the original, and I think they've delivered on that promise based on the trailer. I hope if ever The Answer (P3Fes) and P3Portable would ever happen, that they are ready and prepared to tackle in creating it, because Metis, Theo and Kotone are part of Persona lore and deserve to be known by more Persona fans.
I’m quite sad that the cast got replaced - especially just weeks after Michelle Ruff (Yukari) talked in an interview about ageism keeping her from getting the roles she used to (and we know she stills nails Yukari from P3D). Tara’sand Lliam’s performances quite literally inspired me to buy P3 FES after playing P4 Arena and thinking how I related most to the P3 characters in that story. After well over a decade of their voices across so many Persona 3 related projects, it honestly never occurred to me that they would be swept aside. Let me be clear: this is neither against nor about the persons chosen for the new cast. It just hurts every time I hear people talk about how excited they are for the new without thinking about who got management hurt in order for them to get there.
@@Jessica_Schweser It’s when people assume things about you (or exclude you from doing things) because of how old you are. But they do a better job of explaining it in voice acting in this interview with Yukari’s voice actor. th-cam.com/video/BrM6LGE3TWI/w-d-xo.html
@@perlichtman1562 Oh that makes sense Also really sucks Wait I just remembered something like that in Kawakami’s Confidant. The fact Michelle voiced her makes it worse.
FES is a very special game to me and honestly, them changing the cast has put me on the fence. I'm a purist for the originals presentation and voice work, I also wasn't keen on the shadow of the collosus remake because of the minor changes to presentation.
It just doesn’t make sense. Sure a couple of them were never going to be brought back but even till very very recently they’ve owned these characters. I don’t get it, it feels like they just discarded them in a whim.
Same. I really wish America took a similar approach to Japan when it comes to voice actors. Seems like everyone in this industry is easily thrown under the bus and replaced. Killed most of my hype tbh
@@IHeart16BitYeah, especially since only weeks before the announcement Michelle Ruff was talking in an interview about ageism keeping her from getting to roles she used to. It was really hard not to think of that when suddenly she wasn’t coming back to voice a role she’d done for for well over a decade (and as recently as Persona 3 Dancing only a few years ago).
I started with Persona 2 but 3 was a very monumental release for the genre at the time. I had a lot of fun diving deep into the game while talking with other Atlus superfans on the Gamespite forums back then. I've gone back for additional playthroughs multiple times since then and while I'm disappointed this won't combine every feature up to this point, it still is a welcome release solely to help clean up quality of life things with combat and to have another passthrough at fleshing out the social links.
Makoto is the true protagonist of P3. I love Kotone but her route went against P3 core themes by saving Shinjiro's life, also Kotone was a marketing strategy to give people a reason to buy portable, she is not canon and will never be, she is just a what if scenario, so if she is scrapped I'm ok, people who ask for her doesn't take the time, effort and money that will take create everything, also the answer will be another problem, because people will ask for a version of the answer with her.
L do people really care about the Femc this much? She’s a cool character but saying that persona three include without her is just disrespecting persona three. It was complete without her and even when you choose her in portable it says that this intent of you who actually have finished the main story and just wanted a different perspective . The reason why the main story follows the main MC because he’s the original he’s what really matters in the end she’s just more of a luxury. And expecting atlas to pretty much have to create another 33% of the game because you’re really underestimating how much they’ll have to change reanimator to meet your standards of FEMC route. I’d rather have the game soon and not have her at all then having to wait till 2025 . In my opinion all three male main characters are superior in terms of me liking them even though she’s not a bad character and actually pretty good but out of all the wild cards she’s definitely probably my least favorite
If the main audience Atlus is aiming for is to grab new players, then having Kotone excluded somewhat make sense in Reload. Her route and narrative in her story is basically designed for players that have already played through Persona 3 so some narrative would be lost of new players. Hell, when choosing the protagonist in P3P, the game straight up said that Kotone is meant for previous players.
Well if that were the case they could have handled it the same way they did in p3p and just mentioned that her route is recommended for previous players
@@JaredConnell Unfortunately, some new players will ignore that and immediately choose the female protagonist in games thinking its nothing more than a model change from the male protagonist kind of like games like Monster Hunter.
The only reason they were able to have the female protagonist is because of the playable novel style that portable had. Having to go ahead and do all the edits to get the female protagonist in the game may be too difficult, but I could be wrong
FeMC's absence isn't that surprising because it means that they would have to recreate the cutscenes for her as well, which is not an insignificant amount of work, and it would likely also eat into P3PR sales. That said, even if you're not a woman, FeMC's route is great for a NG+ so maybe Atlus should have put in the work. Push comes to shove though, in a very Atlus move, they can release it as DLC.
I refuse to buy the game or anything related until femc is added. at that point I don't care if the version that comes with her is $500 usd and a console exclusive, ill get it in a heartbeat.
complaining about Femc is dump, you have to at least x2 or x1.5 dev time and budget just for Femc, and it is not a good profitable decision and did not necessary for the direction they are taking. What? you gonna buy the game multiple time to support the budget if there Femc in it? Don't be ridiculous
It should be. They didn't announce the switch ports of Persona 5 royal till a bit later and there have been leaks of a switch version from other countries.
I get that specifically with persona fans they really love the life sim aspect of the game because that also makes it stand out compared to other dungeon crawling titles in the SMT franchise... but at its' core it's still a dungeon crawling rpg so yeah, I want my hardcore dungeon crawling experience in Tartarus and (ideally) in The Answer, but I can respect their decision that this remake isn't supposed to be that, the ultimate, definitive P3 experience, and I'm sure they wouldn't have found a way to make that a reality anyways, given how split the community already is between the different iterations of P3 already out there. Like, it seems so obvious to just create one version of Persona 3 that got everything, but "everything" also means conflicts when it comes to content, gameplay and balancing. So there can't be a "definitive" way to play Persona 3, really. It all comes down to personal preferences and unless Atlus gives us a huge options menu in which we can adjust all these things ourselves, it could never achieve the goal of a truly faithful and definitive Persona 3 remake. So instead I'm just going to take the remake at face value and try to judge it on what it actually tries to be: Simply a modern take on Persona 3 specifically made for people who got into the franchise way after the glorious days of the original, and I'm sure it will be successful in that regard because it looks great and it's probably gonna feel and play similar to P5/R and P4G, which is totally fine.
FeMC is literally told to you, in game, as being designed for second playthroughs or previous players. I really don’t understand this sentiment that has arisen in the persona fanbase that FeMC is the “definitive” or better playthrough.
no. not everyone is a boy and not everyone wants to play as one. I've played the game twice as the guy and over 6 as the girl, I prefer her route in every way. her not being in this $70 ($120 here in Australia) remake is fucking unacceptable
I think it’s possible that the Atlas may include a patch to add to Persona 3 reload that includes the feMC route and The Answer as a DLC for an extra charge.
Honestly the lack of FES killed ALL my hype it's not even funny, perhaps an unpopular opinion but i LOVED the Answer, FES was my first Persona game and The Answer made an integral part of my experience, seeing it removed when it was such an obvious thing to include made me rage, even one of the developers said they wanted to not betray expectations and how he often thought as a fan what would the fans wanna see in the remake and if you asked the P3 fanbase almost everyone would expect FeMC or the Answer included, but NOPE and they KNEW because they're including QoL form both Portable and FES. I haven't been this mad at a decision in a videogame since ever, at this point i'm just hoping for a DLC announcement even if that content should've been in the base game, idc the price i just NEED to know we'll eventually get it
The whole thing about not getting SLs with the rest of the party was already made irrelevant with the fact that we're getting side stories for each character to make up for it. It's in the interviews from yesterday and today
Persona 3 is my favorite Persona game (I've still not played P4 though), and I think part of that is because of the pacing. It feels like a slice of life TV series. For an entire month, I'm hanging out with characters who I like, then I get hit with bits of story with the Full Moons. And the ending of the game with it's barrage of story happens after I finished some of the Social Links, and it's like some sort of climactic finale movie or final season to finish off the TV series strong. It also has a robot, and I'm easily pleased.
The right answer is usually : follow the money. My best guess is they've just released P3P remaster in january and they want it to continue to sell. Except there would be no point in buying it if they anounced a full remake including everything that's unique to P3P a few months after the remater's release. So they'll keep both game separate to continue selling both. You've played one ? You'll love the other !
At full speed he runs that way but when he walks he seems to put his hands in his pockets. Thats what I've gleaned from the footage we were given anyways.
Great video Daniel! I plan on playing P3P for the FemMC… then do P4G and P5R… Then do P3RE… Depending on what platforms it releases on. If not released on Switch I will get it on Gamepass. Knowing Atlas there will probably be a definitive version by then including FemMC content LOL!😁
Yeah, I've seen that phenomenon discused a lot so I really have it in mind, it's called Coriolis effect or something, and it says that the water swirls depending on your hemisphere, why I have this in mind? honestly idunno, but it's one of the best simpsons episodes I remember
The more i think about i doubt there will even be a kotone dlc. Maybe answer at most but after that point im pretty sure Atlus will just move onto spin offs and prioritize persona 6
@@ZSleepingDragonZ Tbh I'd rather have those in a potential P2 remake instead of full-on S Links like most are suggesting. They fit better with what P2 is and I think Soul Hackers 2 did a good job with them
It's definitely a bummer that there won't be Kotone story (at least at launch), but I think it's quite understandable. Her content is a lot and with the remake's production value seen from the trailer, time and cost to make her route would be quite substantial with new voice line ,new cutscenes etc especially when compared to the P3P visual novel style which must be a lot cheaper to made. And just as said in the video, they can always release a Golden-Royal-Fullmoon version or whatever later anyway.
Before this year I'd never tried P3 but I played P3P as Kotone earlier this year and now I'm playing through P3 FES as Makoto. P3 Reload can't come fast enough!
I was very open to trying Persona 3 for the first time, but this not being the definitive edition convinced me not to. I will wait until they make a remake; the right way.
@ryancraig110 I have played 4 and 5. I am fully willing to try it. I, however, want my playthrough to be the best it can be. I have a massive backlog. I'll just wait.
@@Vigilanteblade suit yourself personally I am satisfied I never cared for the answer or the femc all I wanted was the original traversal mechanics and the ability to control my party members so I got what I wanted
Right way? A remake is meant to remake an old game for modern platforms and make it better. Not waste your four year development on additional content. If they remake the base game then they have done it the "right way"
ugh I hope they add FeMC & The Answer through DLC, I’m even willing to pay for it 😑 just to finally have a proper definitive edition edit: my biggest issue is now that there will be THREE (!!!) different versions of the game to play to get the whole experience, Reloaded for the original game/FES for the epilogue/Portable for FeMC 🤦🏼♂️
Thats probably because people asking have never played the original FES. People say its bad, but guess what it can be recontexuallized or just rewritten in a REMAKE.
I'll just wait to see how they handle the situation. It seems a lot of efforts went into it, but i'm not a fan of deleting content that was already existing.
i feel that after Persona 3 reload releases well get a major expansion down the line that is the femc route, atlus listened at least a little and know this is gonna sell, but they have the ability to do it again once the game is already out i think
Im excited. The only thing i wish is for P3P's content to be included, outside of that im excited for all the changes and the fresh coat of paint. The P3 games have aged pretty well i find, for the most part. I go back to FES or P3P every now and again and the hours fly by easily.
"All this would honestly take were just some new models, recolor the assets to pink with a editing of the script". I'm sorry. You make a valid point, but you missed here. You know that's not all. Besides all that, they would have to find a way to give her anime cutscenes, unique animations for all the changes in the main story events and social links. I'm not sure if the UI would just be given a pink color scheme, specially when water is an important theme for this remake, I'd rather they give her a unique flavor. Does the serene and graceful main menu fit her positive attitude? Plus, apparently, social links are now dubbed. So they would have to add a significant amount of fully voiced lines into the game. That's a considerable amount of work that probably half the people playing would never experience. Most players don't event finish their games, let alone play two 80h playthroughs to see all these changes and all this hard work. I feel like it is completely understandable as a future DLC (giving the game a "royal/golden" version aint it though, or even worse, not adding her at all would be a shame).
His excuse will be "altus has a lot of money, so they NEED to appeal to me and a group of my friends" The reality is that nobody gives a damn about her. Most people playing would be either first time players, or have played FES, and caring about some second playthrough content is not something that will create sales. This needs too many assets and another complete art direction change just to avoid pink water, and even then less than a half of people playing would even see this content. Garbage video all around
You could always switch how the wheel went in persona 3 in the options... 5:50 Also lol the english dub being "good" with some of these guys nah... Well at least I got the JP audio to enjoy :D
Bit late but start wherever. The games are mostly separate and are all different enough to where anyone can enjoy. You want an action packed superhero-like story, you start with 5. You want something closer to a slice of life with the story as a secondary thing, there's 4. If you want something darker, 3's a good one. And if you don't care for the social stuff and want a more standard JRPG, 1 and 2 are still great. It all depends on what you want
So, you create a whole video to rant about a character who is not canon and will never be. The reason why there isn't male party members in OG persona 3 is because the game was made for a male audience (at that time there wasn't so much females playing videogames), also the game was created to represent what is life, Makoto have people who align to all different perspectives of life, so have the option with whom he would like to spend time. In the vanilla P3 the game was made with the full intention of not completing all the social links, because the focus of the game was to choose how to spend your time.
In my opinion this was to be expected this is a from the ground up remake there reason they remastered portable People who want female mc and answer fail to realize just how much time it would take to get u that day 1 on launch like people need to learn female mc isn't just a reskin and adds thing multiple new dialogue sections massive story changes new social links and a different soundtrack but atlas would as have to add more to her to make not just tacked on to remake so it take even more time like reanimating all the anime and in engine cutscenes to have her plus full voice acting that she has to do that requires all the vas to step back into the booth this same logic can also explain why we aren't getting the answer at launch as it requires so much that it just pushes back it already long development The other thing is that this isn't supposed to be an ultimate edition This is a remake of a nearly 20 year old game so getting only the base story makes sense to help ease new players into p3 and persona as whole for the new console generation
P3 is my favourite game of all time, when I saw the trailer I was over the moon. And then the VA change made me feel sick when I found out. I understand that for outside reasons a couple of them were just not going to be asked to return and that’s fine, but to change absolutely everyone? Especially when the whole JP cast is returning? Feels awful, and I feel worse for the VAs themselves. Actors like Ruff absolutely own those characters, all the way up till VERY recently. It feels gross. And I don’t think I’m buying the game because of it.
I feel the same way - especially after Michelle Ruff said in an interview (weeks before the P3 announcement) that ageism was keeping her from getting the roles she used to. It’s made me really sad about the whole thing and I’m not sure whether I’ll be get this remake anymore.
From what I can tell, this is a remake of "The Question" from FES. "The Answer" will probably be DLC, once they figure out how to make it better. P3P's stuff... Maybe not. But if we can consider P3P its own game, since it's already on all the consoles, that's probably the way to go about it
I imagine the female MC is going to be in an expanded edition, similar to P4 Golden, or P5 Royal, I know this is a remake, but nothing says they won't do that
I really did not expect ATLUS to not be tempted by the double dip profits in their re-releases. Triple dipping though HECK NAHHH! I ain't gonna wait a re-release for only complete FES content, FES content is post-launch DLC at best.
I mean with FeMC (which is honestly more likely if they did do a rerelease which I'm still not certain on since there's no precedent for this with it being the first remake), yeah if the original remake is good enough, I'd willingly buy twice. I'd pretty much do that for every Persona game except 4
It’s really interesting seeing stuff about this game not know much about it. I’ve scrolled passed some heated arguments of people saying how important female mc is or that she is trash and shouldn’t be in there. I’m pretty new to persona and have struggled to stick to one and complete it. But years ago after I tried p4 on ps3 I looked into more of the series and ended up watching a p3 movie and thought it was really cool and since I’ve always wanted to try specifically p3. So idk anything about the game really but I think the remake looks really cool and I wanna try it. Also not that it matters to anything but I LOVE the blue style of the game.
I can understand them cutting The Answer, and maybe (if they rework and expand it), they could make it DLC, but I can't understand why they would cut the FemC. I wouldn't even mind the game being delayed if they added back her route.
Atlus is not Ubisoft. Keep in mind that Kotone is not just a reskin, but a different route with different social links. The reason why she was included in Portable is because it was easier to include her since it mostly included still images due to the PSP’s limitations. If they tried to add her in the remake, it would be a hell lot more expensive to reanimate the animated and in game cutscenes, as well as create an entirely new model and UI at the highest quality. Atlus doesn’t have that kind of budget to make it work.
I wouldn't mind either but just requesting a delay is an ordeal in of itself and it can still be declined. I'd much rather Atlus make the most of the time they have to make the best they can
Sad truth is; Persona 3 is still going to be the poster child of "which is the definitive version?" and the response of "it's complicated". While I am no fan of how poorly Atlus botched P3P on. . . everything, I most definitely don't think I'll be picking up this remake either. It just doesn't have what I want from a full-on remake, and seems to be another case of the creatives being hyper-focused on """"faithfulness"""" above actually delivering a version of the original that could finally be that definitive version for new and returning fans. Plus; they of coarse continue the trend of screwing over FeMC.
Is it really though? femc is usually for 2nd playthroughs and the answer isn't worth it in general and definitely not worth noting for people who have never played the game before
@@jeveritt8398 for a lot of folks; its the better playthrough or 2nd, sure. I'm of a mind that it was a 2nd, and better playthrough than the OG P3. but there are a decent amount of people who have played that route first, and have basically been told it doesn't matter.
@@pockystyx4087in an ideal world femc would be included but the decision has already been made. I was more so explaining how the omissions aren't all that big of a deal
I have the same feelings about this as I did with RE4R. I'd rather have a remake of Persona 1(Resident Evil 0) or Persona 2(Code Veronica) as well as remasters of Persona Q and Q2(Outbreak File 1 and File 2).
Basically is a Fes remake with some QOL stuff of P3Portable and P5Royal, but no Femmc, no male party social links, no Femmc social links and neither the epilogue The Answer.
I played and replayed P3P so many times when I was younger, its a game very dear to my heart. If they do make a complete remake i'll buy that, but the cut content on this one is... personally too disappointing. I still hope everyone else enjoys it though, and i'm happy more people will get to experience P3.
As I mentioned in another p3REload video, this is going to feel like a Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl 2.0. Why? Because like those games (for the ones doesn´t know) they only added the content of the base games WITHOUT the upgrades implemented in Platinum version (as in the pokemon mainline games the third games are intended to be like the best experience of the generation on when they are) making those games only a technical upgrade on gameplay (wich other fan games like Renegade Platinum already did before the launching of those games) and a slight graphic upgrade. As mentioned in this video this was the opportunity to make finally a definitive version, and for those complaining for the tedious of the answer and can't implement the social links, there's a form to make like a pseudo-social link in the way games like mass effect andromeda and horizon forbidden west did it: make special conversation to give a little boost in fusions (i don't know like 3/4 of the normal boost to all the arcanas) and you can make the answer epilogue more managable. And also like mentioned in this video removing Kotone's storyline feels like a punch in the gut, because P3 in general is a story about death and acceptance of the subject in wich P3P gives a diiferent point of view of the story WITHOUT changing the core story in general. I hope there's a chance to implement those changes, because this feels like those games I mentioned before, which fell in obscurity in 2 weeks and can affect the chances of re-making other games of atlus (Hope for remaking P1, P2IS and P2EP).
Not at all. Those remakes were only a small visual "upgrade". This has new cutscenes, content and a beautiful uplift of basically everything right down the the UI plus QOL. I wouldn't put the two even close.
@@koromau3854 In those remakes were included up to 8th Gen moves, fairy type were implemented and from the 4th gym onwards and the elite four/champion were given a more smart AI and competitive teams, items, Individual Values and Effort Values. I see Reload as a glass half full but for the price of a brand new game when giving almost the same experience of the Makoto-only the journey, is best playing portable (if you want hardcore game play FES or the original)
There's only no Answer and no FeMC a lot of QoL updates from Portable and FES are making it back in this game There's Elizabeth Quest, Weapon Fusion on the mall, Bulletin Board on the Mall, and the most obvious one, controllable party member, so saying that they wont include Aigis social link or even other important stories is far from the truth For the compensation of no male social links they're adding an entirely new features that's different from social links, it's a new features that was made to specifically fleshed out the remaining males cast that don't get much change to shine in FES and og P3 They also said this is by far the Persona game with highest amount of dialogue and script in the series, and the cast side story will be 100% more fleshed out than in the FES or even Portable, but side stories it's not the sole reason for it being so high (possible The Answer dlc or remaking The answer) Also, all of the social links are fully voiced in this, this is not some bare minimum quick cash grab remake like you think it is I personally don't mind if there's no FeMC as long as they did all of the above
@@arcueid3352 I agree there's definitely been a lot of effort put into this, plus there's only so much they can do if they want to actually release this thing. I am disappointed about femc but I probably will get this, when it comes to the base game Male MC experience this will be the definitive.
This remake is going to be a unique situation, there’s never been a remake where it’s been so exciting & looks great but at the same time cause as much controversy as this has
I mean that describes FF7R perfectly.
@@Kango234 at least with FF7R it’s kinda more of a reimagining than a remake, this is more along the lines of a remake
This is probably gonna end up as the ultimate Atlus game both in the good & bad
The fact that this has so much controversy is sad to me lmao the game looks amazing and that’s all that matters to me. No one hates on persona like persona fans I guess
@@kl0764 falls exactly with how Sega is & their fans
True, it's not that easy, you also have to hire animation studio again to redo the animation with Kotone this time too.
I really love the polished work this remake has and it looks like a fun time for sure
I only expected them to recast Junpei & maybe Aigis due to their previous actors being problematic. I didn’t expect them to replace the entire cast.
I am definitely going with the Japanese audio this time around, with unfamiliar English voices I'd rather hear a totally different language
@LucasThePhantomThief Like I said, they only really needed to replace two of the characters. Not everyone else.
"IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS" awesome analysis :)
I too am also miffed about the lack of FEMC.
Pretty sure this is like the, what, third Persona 3 focused video on this channel? Not that I’m complaining.
That's because it's the best persona. I miss shooting myself in the head to summon lmao
The sun was the best link
@@2dat115 I agree, even after finishing P4 and P5, my favorite Social Link was P3's Sun SL!
I really hope this turns out great and i hope they make Tartarus less tedious (it was a real slog)
Ngl I never minded Tartarus
Some news regarding that, fatigue while on Tartarus is no longer a thing
They also let you dash
@@stellu540 Oh sweet. I genuinely loved Tartarus but hated that doing too much actually negatively affected the MC
Honestly, the tedium of Tartarus let me put on some youtube videos so I was never really bored
So really quickly i wanna specify that the text in the trailer says a bit more than just "dark hour", it's latin for "In the dark hour, while I breathe, I hope to be reborn"
I haven’t played any Persona games, so having remakes like this are exciting. I was willing to play the older versions, but this looks way better.
p4g and p5r are waiting for you. i think you'll appreciate it more if you play some persona games plus this would be an easy way to pass the time waiting for this.
The reason why the FEMC isn't in is probably because it's extra work just to have her work. Reminder that it's not just a reskin, there's social links that differ from the MC and also all of the animated cutscenes.
Exactly. All the in engine cutscenes, the anime cutscenes, alternate takes for all the voice acting, more translation work. I
Yeah I'd easily see the release date need to be pushed back a year if she was included
they should do that extra work for $70+ fucking dollars on a remake. I don't care if I had to wait 5 extra years or whatever the fuck.
@@lucymorrison That's probably not economically viable for the remake, the best you can hope for is DLC.
i think you are forgetting for the FEMC route Atlus would have to not just reskin the protagonist.
@@lucymorrison Then don't buy it. Your money, your choice.
That has me very excited, and I can't wait.
femc is fucking crucial for me and so many others, many won't even touch the game without her.
They’ll definitely sell FemC as dlc or in a definitive version
What’s ageism
@@Jessica_Schweser It’s when people assume things about you (or exclude you from doing things) because of how old you are. But they do a better job of explaining it in voice acting in this interview with Yukari’s voice actor.

@@perlichtman1562 Oh that makes sense
Also really sucks
Wait I just remembered something like that in Kawakami’s Confidant.
Those games labeled as a remake for a reason
If they gonna keep everything the same then whats the point? Its better for them to do other projects
8:00 this shot here is a complete redo of one shot in the first Persona 3 Movie, so we might be getting content from the movies in the remake
Maybe there's a dog hiding in that bag, if not then I need fanart of Minato toting best boy Koro around Tatsumi Poet Island
@@JaredConnell Unfortunately, some new players will ignore that and immediately choose the female protagonist in games thinking its nothing more than a model change from the male protagonist kind of like games like Monster Hunter.
no it fucking doesn't
As someone whos favorite version of P3 is the og ps2 version. I dont care about losing out on the female protag.
complaining about Femc is dump, you have to at least x2 or x1.5 dev time and budget just for Femc, and it is not a good profitable decision and did not necessary for the direction they are taking. What? you gonna buy the game multiple time to support the budget if there Femc in it? Don't be ridiculous
its not "dump". id rather wait another year or two than have a $70 remake without crucial content. fuck this shitty remake
I have my fingers crossed that it'll be out on switch too (I'm sure Refantasy won't but this I have more hopes for.)
It should be. They didn't announce the switch ports of Persona 5 royal till a bit later and there have been leaks of a switch version from other countries.
More news and info kept coming out as I was deep into editing this video, so some of it is already outdated. That’s just the way it goes sometimes 😔
I really think the male protagonist should be your first playthough but it still like fmc
@@lucymorrison for me shinjiro not dying kills the whole route but hey nothing against people that like femc

Can't help but think of Pokemon remakes post HGSS and how they blatantly ignore the improvements from their best versions...
Outside side modes like The Answer and FeMC, we are still getting nearly all of FES and Portable's additions to Persona 3's main story.
I think it’s possible that the Atlas may include a patch to add to Persona 3 reload that includes the feMC route and The Answer as a DLC for an extra charge.
I cannot accept a different english voice for Mitsuru. It's just not possible.
I can’t accept a different Tres Bien
I just hope there's a platonic option for the social links this time
Honestly the lack of FES killed ALL my hype it's not even funny, perhaps an unpopular opinion but i LOVED the Answer, FES was my first Persona game and The Answer made an integral part of my experience, seeing it removed when it was such an obvious thing to include made me rage, even one of the developers said they wanted to not betray expectations and how he often thought as a fan what would the fans wanna see in the remake and if you asked the P3 fanbase almost everyone would expect FeMC or the Answer included, but NOPE and they KNEW because they're including QoL form both Portable and FES. I haven't been this mad at a decision in a videogame since ever, at this point i'm just hoping for a DLC announcement even if that content should've been in the base game, idc the price i just NEED to know we'll eventually get it
As they say, you can’t always get what you want. 😢
P4 is maybe the best one. I played more hours in P3 tho
im biased as p4g was my first but it's really good. you would enjoy it.
I’m pretty sure the Makoto running animation is just reusing p5 engine and he’s gonna run with his hands in his pockets in the final version
Their is already footage out there with him moving around with his hands in his pockets.
13:00 They've said there will be more social links / story expanding the male cast members.
To compensate the lack of Kotone male social links, they're adding the side adventures which are new to the franchise.
AKA hangouts? 😎
don't give a shit what they add unless its the female mc.
@@ZSleepingDragonZ Tbh I'd rather have those in a potential P2 remake instead of full-on S Links like most are suggesting. They fit better with what P2 is and I think Soul Hackers 2 did a good job with them
out of the 4 versions of P3, this new one is going to be the 2nd best one to play.
14:33 I mean, there's a Simpsons Episode which plot Kickstarted because of this exact topic
So you're telling me I won't be able to hear Aki's beautiful voice in this remake? Heartbreaking
I think they will release it as dlc. I wouldn't be surprised.
I was very open to trying Persona 3 for the first time, but this not being the definitive edition convinced me not to. I will wait until they make a remake; the right way.
If that was enough to put you off then it sounds to me that you weren't open at all
@ryancraig110 I have played 4 and 5.
If they remake the base game then they have done it the "right way"
same. don't give a shit about the answer but I won't even consider picking this shit up until they add the femc.
I'll give Atlus and P-Studio this: At least they aren't remaking P3 in an ugly Chibi Style like Pokémon Bland Diamond and Snoozefest Pearl...
Whens part 2 of your zelda history?
Looks so good and great shoutout with Mario RPG. Top 10 games ever!
ugh I hope they add FeMC & The Answer through DLC, I’m even willing to pay for it 😑 just to finally have a proper definitive edition
edit: my biggest issue is now that there will be THREE (!!!) different versions of the game to play to get the whole experience, Reloaded for the original game/FES for the epilogue/Portable for FeMC 🤦🏼♂️
I rather have an extremely polish (base) game than a messy game of the result trying to include everything and then more
Minako:I don’t feel like I belong
Characters in persona:u do belong
Company:she doesn’t belong
Lovely
His excuse will be "altus has a lot of money, so they NEED to appeal to me and a group of my friends"
The reality is that nobody gives a damn about her. Most people playing would be either first time players, or have played FES, and caring about some second playthrough content is not something that will create sales. This needs too many assets and another complete art direction change just to avoid pink water, and even then less than a half of people playing would even see this content.
Garbage video all around
Let's face it, they are going to sell us an enhanced full price version of the remake as well
You could always switch how the wheel went in persona 3 in the options... 5:50 Also lol the english dub being "good" with some of these guys nah... Well at least I got the JP audio to enjoy :D
Gosh Im new to this series and have always been so interested in it all but dont even know where to start haha
@@connorharnage6697 Ah okay, ty! Honestly they all look equally charming, just gotta get them all haha
@@starbutter2730 Quick warning though if you wanna try 1 and 2,you'll have to jump through some hoops. I'd suggest emulation
In my opinion this was to be expected this is a from the ground up remake there reason they remastered portable
People who want female mc and answer fail to realize just how much time it would take to get u that day 1 on launch
like people need to learn female mc isn't just a reskin and adds thing multiple new dialogue sections massive story changes new social links and a different soundtrack but atlas would as have to add more to her to make not just tacked on to remake so it take even more time like reanimating all the anime and in engine cutscenes to have her plus full voice acting that she has to do that requires all the vas to step back into the booth
this same logic can also explain why we aren't getting the answer at launch as it requires so much that it just pushes back it already long development
The other thing is that this isn't supposed to be an ultimate edition This is a remake of a nearly 20 year old game so getting only the base story makes sense to help ease new players into p3 and persona as whole for the new console generation
FeMC has never belonged in Persona. She was a mistake and P3P should have never been made.
Hoping they’ll release some of the missing content from other releases will get released in the form of post launch dlc
From what I can tell, this is a remake of "The Question" from FES. "The Answer" will probably be DLC, once they figure out how to make it better.
P3P's stuff... Maybe not. But if we can consider P3P its own game, since it's already on all the consoles, that's probably the way to go about it
The Billboard for missing people from P3P is outside the police station
counterclockwise in the north, clockwise in the south
I imagine the female MC is going to be in an expanded edition, similar to P4 Golden, or P5 Royal, I know this is a remake, but nothing says they won't do that
Geeked is common vocabulary in my social circle..
Not having FES or Portable content make me not want it honestly.
yeah. not buying until femc is an option
If they delayed the game to include female protag, but then people complain about the quality. Whats the point?
Never gamble. Take the safe route
Plus; they of coarse continue the trend of screwing over FeMC.
it's going to be the Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl of the Persona series
Is it really though? femc is usually for 2nd playthroughs and the answer isn't worth it in general and definitely not worth noting for people who have never played the game before
@@That_Lady_CharlieI don't think it will be that bad
@@jeveritt8398 for a lot of folks; its the better playthrough or 2nd, sure. I'm of a mind that it was a 2nd, and better playthrough than the OG P3.
but there are a decent amount of people who have played that route first, and have basically been told it doesn't matter.
@@pockystyx4087in an ideal world femc would be included but the decision has already been made. I was more so explaining how the omissions aren't all that big of a deal
Kotone should join Naoya, Tatsuya, and Maya's gang.
Water goes down the sink both ways geez
New title: “Man rants about his anime waifu for 10 minutes”
There's only no Answer and no FeMC a lot of QoL updates from Portable and FES are making it back in this game
There's Elizabeth Quest, Weapon Fusion on the mall, Bulletin Board on the Mall, and the most obvious one, controllable party member, so saying that they wont include Aigis social link or even other important stories is far from the truth
For the compensation of no male social links they're adding an entirely new features that's different from social links, it's a new features that was made to specifically fleshed out the remaining males cast that don't get much change to shine in FES and og P3
They also said this is by far the Persona game with highest amount of dialogue and script in the series, and the cast side story will be 100% more fleshed out than in the FES or even Portable, but side stories it's not the sole reason for it being so high (possible The Answer dlc or remaking The answer)
Also, all of the social links are fully voiced in this, this is not some bare minimum quick cash grab remake like you think it is
I personally don't mind if there's no FeMC as long as they did all of the above
@@ridercornejo3974 I think its still too early to say that personally. It really depends on how much content was added and the QOL features.
@@arcueid3352 I agree there's definitely been a lot of effort put into this, plus there's only so much they can do if they want to actually release this thing.
I am disappointed about femc but I probably will get this, when it comes to the base game Male MC experience this will be the definitive.
