The tower conversion in central London is actually one of my favourite episodes to watch, I recommend watching from start to finish! The access to the site alone was gripping!
My father built the folly's (@4:05) staircase! He was filmed for around 3 hours and was supposed to appear on the episode on Dinton folly but they cut him out of the final edit completely for no apparent reason. He's still known for his spiral staircases. Edit: apparently he didn't install it, just supervised the installation.

It's not just the architecture but the stories/dreams that pull you along. just one question though, how much must you earn to accomplish homes like that ?. Kirsty + Phil come close 2nd.

The viewer who loaned them the money to finish, ended up buying the abandoned home in 2016 and after refurbishment now lives there with her family. So many of these grand design forever homes end up for sale three to four years later.
This is the Dome house built in Bowness -on-Windermere in the Lake District and featured in the 2010 Series? They run into money problems and a viewer gave them a loan to finish the project. By 2016 the house had been abandoned and the viewer who loaned them the money has now bought the property and has refurbished it and now lives in it with their family. Hope this helps.
Can the first question the presenter ask everyone from now on is “where did they get the money from” because I don’t get where all these rich people are coming from? Just got million Pound laying around just to play around with??
Most of the episodes do start with "what's your budget and where's that money coming from?" Often it's around £500k and a mixture of mortgages and savings. Often the biggest builds come from people that run their own businesses, often within the sector, and some are from inheritance etc. Once you have assets it gets easier to accumulate wealth as this show suggests.
So how do you clean the waterfall that is behind the swimming pool? You need to swim across to the waterfall carrying all the cleaning supplies and then climb up into the waterfall with all your cleaning supplies. Or just let it get all moldy.
Funny, I thought that as well...but maybe the water is so chlorinated that it wouldn't get mouldy, and a couple of times a year he'll have to drain that pool to clean it anyways. Just guessing...

If I had one show to choose and there are great shows. I'll choose Grand designs. From the first note of the intro music it gets me. Just love it
