2007-2013 were literally the peak years of gaming for me. So many memories of me just coming home from school every day and just blissfully gaming well into the night on my old 360, completely carefree. Halo, Call of Duty, Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Bioshock and so on. Now as a 29 year old, I am merely left wondering as to where all those years somehow went, and how everything managed to go so wrong 😢. Take me back.
It wasn't just you. I turn 23 this year and I honestly think that those years were objectively the best years for gaming. I was only around for it from 2010 or so because of age, but I (thankfully) didn't have a microphone. That would have ruined me. I don't just mean CoD lobbies or anything, though CoD was at peak then for sure. Games were just better. They were more polished, more creative, fewer microtransactions, nearly all physical releases. People were hyped for releases, camped outside for new games. Most of the games I play are from this era of gaming because they're just so good. The number of games I play that have released within the past decade pales in comparison to the number of physical games I have for PS3/2 and the 360. There are aspects of modern gaming that are good, but there's so much garbage that ruins it. I do appreciate more inclusiveness in games, despite finding all of the homophobic/racist messages on PSN and Live hilarious because of how absurd they are. Devs were free and cared about their games. They were run by people who understood gaming, but now dev teams are too large, can't work with each other, and are run by executives that would rather fart out a broken game at release rather than spend a bit of time and money to polish a turd into a gem.

My controller joystick pulled to the left, the headset had to be held by a rubber band to stay connected to the controller and they system randomly laser-burned my copy of Army of Two. Then finally one day my 360 got that video card error that finally killed it. What a piece of shit console that was.

@@ascissordollynamedgwen9409 I tell yuh whut, those were the glory days. I had a first-gen 360 that originally got the Red Ring, so I did the towel trick and got it going for a little bit longer. My controller joystick pulled to the left, the headset had to be held by a rubber band to stay connected to the controller and they system randomly laser-burned my copy of Army of Two. Then finally one day my 360 got that video card error that finally killed it.
