I bought a midi keyboard. (Novation impulse 49) and it definitely helps spark creativity by making it easier to just play around with the keys on a scale or when coming up with different chords. If you have some extra cash then i'd also recommend buying some different plugins for the type of music you want to create. I use Hybrid 3, vacuum pro, and I recently bought synthmaster one and it comes with a lot of different presets you can choose from. I stay away from Nexus as it doesnt give you much options for tweaking your sounds.
Mechapaia Shilla It’s strange that you are saying this, even in drawling you need colors, canvas, brushes, learning and experience. Why would it be any different in music?
I use FL, and a komplete kontrol midi keyboard. I didn't use the midi keyboard at first, but man, it really is a godsend when coming up with chord and melody ideas instead of just clicking in notes.
Get Cakewalk for free! It's a completely free DAW that is unrestricted (unlike other free versions) and has got loads of options! I was very skeptical at first because I couldn't believe that there would be a program that would be completely free with that many functions without any restrictions!
The fact that literally everybody recommends focusrite stuff is amazing. I have (almost) every type of Scarlett they sell, and every single one is professional quality.
Ableton Push (I just have the first model) was a big investment initially, but it's been core to my music production learning and you can do a lot with it. From drum and instrumental finger pads to adjusting filters for a beginner / intermediate person in music production it has it all!

I always thought I had crappy to mediocre speakers until I really perfected the distance, angle and height (equilateral triangle). It made a huge difference!

I keep coming back to this video, ever since the pandemic started I have been dipping my toes in music production and its from this channel that I have amazed most of my knowledge. This video was so useful getting started
I got a good computer with ableton intro, mouse, mouse pad, computer bag, launchpad MK2, Serato DJ, DDJ-SB2, and nearly 500 dollars to invest in a studio room. I worked hard selling water in downtown Chicago during taste of chicago and lollapalooza. I bought my equipment and I am moving to Arizona. The new house will have more rooms which means I don’t have to share a room anymore. I can finally set up a studio. I just turned fourteen and I’ve always wanted to be on that stage at lollapalooza. My inspirations are skrillex, Martin garrix, marshmello and Moonboy. I hope that you succeed and I wish you the greatest luck in this great industry😁💛
Its really nice hearing about someone else who's dog chewed up their Beyerdynamic headphones. I had them for a week before a puppy chewed them up - was able to get them repaired through United Sound Services which I was grateful for, but I was NOT HAPPY, as you can imagine. Great video !
Hey Sanjay, loved the way you explained things so easily. Also, I just bought a midi controller to incorporate contemporary elements into rock music.. And I have very less knowledge on choosing right instruments/tones for MIDI controller.. basically very ambient, psychedelic tones is what i need. If you have any videos on such basics on how to set up midi controller and choose right instruments please share. that would be of great help.
Honestly, using FL Studio free version is working very well for me since the only thing you don’t get with the free version is the ability to push a save button, however you can still track out your music which I prefer anyway and make amazing music. I definitely recommend doing that with FL studio if you don’t want to pay $200+ for the simplicity of a save button.

I started with garageband and skull candy earbuds. You don't need much for hip hop or edm beats. I gradually built up my gear to logic pro x, headphones, and speakers. Plug-ins will get you far also. Now I am looking for a midi keyboard and a microphone. But i would suggest getting to know your DAW as much as possible before buying hardware.
@@SanjayC It is very good, if you have decent knowledge of eqs and effects, its basic sound is pretty casual, decent. I actually think you can easilly compare it to mics in 100$ category. I will definitly recomend it :}.
It's funny that you mentioned the headphones, it actually crossed my mind a few days ago when I was hearing a difference in the songs I was creating in GarageBand (* yeah I'm a newbie) when I was wearing my headphones vs other outputs like the Artiphon as a speaker, vs. ear buds....I don't use my laptop speakers 'cause they blew out about a year ago on my 2013 MacBook Pro. You're absolutely right because I was missing little glitches with my edits that I can only hear with the headphones. BTW Sanjay thank you for spending the time to develop high quality reviews, I can tell you spend a lot of time getting things right and you're opening my mind to what's really out in the market.
The best piece of gear I’ve bought so far is the machine mk3 mikro it’s amazing has its own daw and it’s easy to learn my best studio start off recommendation
Sanjay you do such a great job explaining and organizing your videos! You're a natural, man. I'm curious if you use any sort of cloudlifter to amplify your sm7b?? It's what I'm currently saving up for and I constantly see people say it needs something to increase clean gain. Thanks!
Thanks much, Jake! Yes, I use the cloudlifter for my SM7B. Its a necessity with the SM7B. You're gonna love the mic! Keep saving up...its totally worth it!
i finally would have my freedom really soon and 1st thing i have in mind is to record the songs i made so iam soooooo thrill with this video.. I might go back and forth because im soooo new to this.. Thank u!!!
True. I get by using an i3 / 4GB for a lot of what I'm doing in the studio. Granted I've got three other notebooks plus an iPad but even with a DAW like Ableton running a few plugins I'm mostly okay on the i3. But that is using an external interface that takes a lot of the latency away. Running multiple plugins is where you need the better CPU and more RAM plus the SSD drive and external USB 3.0 hubs and drives also a must.
I love the way you explain everything; professionally and clear. Thanks for this. I am starting to build on my own music studio and this helped me a lot. Currently I am on a small budget but I will try to get everything as soon as I can. I am still deciding between AKAI MPK MINI and ARTURIA MINILAB, which one should I go for? Are the ARTURIA Drum pads that bad?
The Arturia drum pads are not that bad. If you think you're going to use them on a daily basis, then you might like the Akai or Novation pads better. But aside from that, I really prefer the Minilab - the keys are so good for the price.
Sanjay C Thank you for your prompt response! I want to make some good beats but I find the Minilab more pleasing to the eye and the keys look good. I may go for that one. Thank you!
I love my DT770 and 990 Pros.I bought my DT770Pro 250 used and it had a broken cable. I removed the cable and soldered in a female 3.5mm female connector and it has been great...really feel relief when pulling away without thinking and the cable comes out rather than break. I'll do the same to my 990's when that cable breaks.
Beautiful ,i lov to make my own studio but no money ....wen i get Job i ll complete my dreams thnks ur videos encourage me more n more to focus in my dreams

- Behringer C-1u - microphone - 40$
- Audiotechnica ath-m20x - headphones - 50$
Very nice! How do you like that mic?
@@SanjayC It is very good, if you have decent knowledge of eqs and effects, its basic sound is pretty casual, decent. I actually think you can easilly compare it to mics in 100$ category.
I will definitly recomend it :}.
@@SanjayC btw ....i subscribed..... cause of your high quality content... im very surprised... keep it up bro :D
I like how you put the prices for each item in the video
:-D Glad you like that! We've all got budgets!
Sanjay C very true 😊😂
You're very welcome. Don't miss my headphones comparison th-cam.com/video/0kKAIIAxI-M/w-d-xo.html
The most important thing you didn't list in your description :) what is that clock thing that shows your TH-cam stats
Haha! Its this: amzn.to/2GTe2ke

The best piece of gear I’ve bought so far is the machine mk3 mikro it’s amazing has its own daw and it’s easy to learn my best studio start off recommendation
Nice! I agree its awesome
Why am I watching videos about home studio gear when I can’t even afford a haircut
Lmaoooo 😂😂
You Will get there i promoise
I might go
back and forth because im soooo new to this.. Thank u!!!
I3 processor 4GB RAM and ive. Got no problem at all 😂
No problem.
If you pro you will upgrade
FREEZE ALL THE TRACKS!! 😂
I can run omnisphere with 4 gn no prob with Electra and bunch more at the same time
My laptop can't handle Serum VST 😂
Thank you!
In first 2min into video, I subscribed this channel. No BS just valuable information.
you are best
Thanks, Ardi!
I have a home studio as well (2 midi keyboards)
That’s more than enough :-)
@@SanjayC Akai mpk mini mk2 and you are welcome
I love my DT770 and 990 Pros.I bought my DT770Pro 250 used and it had a broken cable. I removed the cable and soldered in a female 3.5mm female connector and it has been great...really feel relief when pulling away without thinking and the cable comes out rather than break. I'll do the same to my 990's when that cable breaks.
😊 Nice!
The thing I'd recommend most besides the hardware is a good laptop, I swear an Easy Bake Oven has more CPU than my trash laptop haha
Love the naughty Yorkie Face 6:25
Yeah. She knew what she did 🐶
Beautiful ,i lov to make my own studio but no money ....wen i get Job i ll complete my dreams thnks ur videos encourage me more n more to focus in my dreams

Sanjay C is studio beats by dr dre a good option?
Is there any way where I connect my Audio Interface directly to speaker or not possible ????
Do you Need an Interface only for mixing and Mastering?.. without bringing in external sounds or voices or can you simply connect your mixing headphones straight to your PC ?
are you from India ???
Yes I am. You?
Honest, genuine and sensible - excellent vid!
Thanks, Anthony!
