Ok, I believe this tuner was the reason my transmission started shuddering. You and hypertech say it's not possible. But, I don't believe in coincidences. I quit traveling and got a local job a few months ago. For the most part the truck was still shuddering just like it was in the beginning. I've been driving it and manually shifting it to try and prevent it from shuddering at all. I've exchanged the transmission fluid 2 quarts at a time over a period of time a few months ago when it first started shuddering and just had the fluid exchanged at a shop with a machine. I removed the tune right after applying the tune months ago. Yesterday I drove it around for an hour and a half and it barely shuddered at all. Felt pretty good about it so this morning I used the tuner again and then drove it around and wouldn't you know.... shuddering way worse than yesterday. If I'm missing something why don't you fill me in ? Using the tuner, what would be the best tune for trying to eliminate the shudder ? I've heard and read comments about the tuner affecting the TCM ? I believe it is a waste of time and money and it may have permanently damaged my transmission.
This what I found on chat gpt Torque Converter Lockup Issues: The tuner might alter the torque converter's lockup settings, leading to premature wear of the torque converter or erratic lockup behavior. This can manifest as shuddering or slipping during acceleration.
I've never experienced any of that. I've been running the 75% firm shift settings for several years and it helps prevent slippage. I also change the fluid and filter every 35,000 miles or so. I also upgraded to a Mishimoto direct fit upgraded transmission cooler this summer. It made a huge different in colling efficiency.
@Todd_S Good for you. I just spent 6,800 on a new transmission. Could have been that the transmission just went out I don't know but, it's one hell of a coincidence that it started going out and shuddering right after using the tuner.
@billgatesc1072 It will depend on the vehicle and transmission on what parameters are available to adjust. For me, on my 2012 Silverado with 6L80 transmission, I do not have torque converter options.
If you go to one of the websites that sells them you type in your vehicle and it will let you know if they make it for that vehicle, and if they do then yes it will improve performance
I drove the day before with the dash bezel off since I changed the radio install kit. I had the 4WD control unplugged and it said Service 4WD system in the driver information center. The codes were related to that. No codes since.
@@Todd_S thanks for the response, I’m ordering the same product very soon. It’s a very new product as of right now and you’re the only person who has made a video about it that wasn’t an employee from hypertech so I was wondering how much of a difference it has made? Of course the hypertech staff will say it’s great but I was wanting to know what an actual customer thought.
@@drakeshriver2316 That's exactly why I made this video. The main difference with the Spectrum programmer is the color screen. All of the programming options are the same as the older Hypertech programmers. You'll notice that the dyno sheet actually says the programming was done with an older Max Energy programmer. I really like the color screen since it's a much better interface. I noticed a big difference in power especially with the Premium fuel tune. It's more responsive throughout the RPM range and top end is extended. You'll notice the idle is not as smooth since the timing is advanced, but that's a trade-off I like. I bought it to disable the AFM (V4 mode), but the extra power is needed when I tow my travel trailer in the mountains. You must use the highest octane fuel available with the premium fuel tune or it will spark knock and that can destroy the engine. I have another video on changing the tune. What sets Hypertech apart from the competition is that they do power tuning with all vehicle loads and conditions tested. The performance tune is safe for towing unlike the competition where you have performance, towing, economy, etc tunes and the others warn you not to tow with a performance tune. Hypertech performance tunes are safe for towing. Hypertech has been around since 1986 and is one of the pioneers in the electronic tuning industry. I'm happy to answer any other questions. I recommend buying form Advance Auto Parts online and use code FLYINGSPARKS25 for $50 off. Do not purchase from Amazon, Ebay or non-authorized retailers or there is no warranty from Hypertech. See hypertech.com for details.
@@Todd_S Yea, of course I can't say for sure but, since I used the tuner the front pump and torque converter are going out now. Over $5,000.00 for a new transmission. I just left Aamco transmission shop and they said there's a good chance the tuning did it
@user-cl6cu1bj1b Oh, that's awful. I'm sorry to hear that. My 6L80 has been tuned for firmer shifts for years, and it's been fine. Firmer shifts = less clutch slippage. AAMCO is speculating. They can't prove a boxed tune would ruin a transmission. There may have been a pre-existing condition before the tune. Please check if your MAF sensor is clean. That can mess up line pressures in the transmission.

My truck is throwing codes now as well ???
Bank 1 a 2 lean ???
Please contact Hypertech support if you haven't already. My Hypertech programmer has never caused ECU codes.
So those it really work is the question? Does it actually give you more hp ?
Do you recommend the tuner ? I have extended warranty and it would be detectable I think
I also would like to know, I have the same question.
I just got one and right after using it my transmission started going out
Any issues so far?
So does it give you the tcc options for your 6l80?
No, only the shift firmness and shift RPM are options for the transmission.
@Todd_S I only ask because on hypertechs website and instructions, it says tcc slip tunes to adjust the algorithm of the tcc slip.

@@Todd_S dang. The trans that needs it the most.
I usually run my shift firmness at 50% or 75%. I also raised my shift points and rev limiter by 200 or 300 rpm.
I can't find the location of the OnStar fuse for my 2018 Escalade. Any ideas?
Driver Information Center fuse.
i have a 2013 with a 5.3 and i use e85 in it can i still use e85 after tuning
Yes, Hypertech says to select the Premium Fuel tune.
I understand you might not be able to answer this question. I have a 05 chevy colorado with a inline 5, with this tuner be able to help that motor?

No, see hypertech.com for details.
Im about to do this to my 2012 malibu
It depends on your engine and VIN code digit. See hypertech.com for your vehicle.
Did you buy it?
Did you buy it
OBI DOOBY TOO! 0:15
Does it stay in truck? Or remove it?
It's not meant to be mounted. I remove it after I program the truck.
Is there a device that fits the 2006 GMC Sierra?
Check their website and select your vehicle. www.hypertech.com/MaxEnergySpectrum.aspx#features

Throwing codes and transmission slipped immediately after applying a tune the first time.
I'm sure it's just a coincidence though.....😂
