- The war in Ukraine has led to rapid growth in industries supplying products and equipment to the military.
Among the more obscure products are decoys meant to deceive the enemy and stop them from launching attacks on real guns and vehicles.
Al Jazeera’s Rob McBride reports from an undisclosed location in central Ukraine.

Yeah, the only thing new here is the PR stunt they are creating around it. Decoys have been around since WW1.
I d say GB or USA. Almost everythg made in Ukraine, is controlled by the US and/or GB (the rest of nato countries including Germany are vassals)

What would a decoy look like besides looking real...
Exactly roll in say 5 decoys all painted army green, and 1 REAL howitzer painted say hippie style with yellows, oranges rainbow ,, the place all a few hundred feet apart,, the Russians will be sure to attack the fake BUT painted REAL looking howitzer's 1st, The hippie painted one will survive,, hahaaaa

Why make this knowledge public when the war is waging on?
(laughing) Decoys have been in use in warfare for a very long time. It's common knowledge. Look into how the British used decoys in WW2 to misdirect the Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain, and later, to make the Germans think that there was a massive Allied army building up in south-east England to invade the Pas de Calais, and that the real invasion force was just a distraction. Any military in a protracted war that doesn't expect their opposition to use decoys would have to be utterly incompetent. Then again, the Russian military isn't all that competent, isn't well equipped, and has atrociously poor leadership. Perhaps Ukraine using decoys did come as a surprise to Russia - but I rather doubt it.

No, it would be better for Ukraine to understand that Russia is their neighbour, has genuine security concerns and will go to any lengths to secure itself. With that in mind, accepting the more than reasonable Russia's demands in 2021 would have been an incredibly good choice. @@msg5359 Every single shot Ukraine fires is supplied to them by us. We also know how many artillery pieces they have. We can do the simple math of dividing the shots fired by the number of artillery pieces, correcting for how many of them are positioned at the frontline at a given time. This shows that very few pieces at the frontline are sitting idle.

Vatnik, people being killed in their own homes by invaders shelling, bombing and missiling them isn't comedy, it's tragedy. Poorly equipped and trained mobiks being forced into the front line to get killed for nothing isn't comedy either. What matters in a president is their competence in the job, NOT what their previous job was. President Zelensky is doing a fine job of uniting Ukrainians in resisting the Russian invasion and fighting back to reclaim territories occupied by Russia.
Putin however - he was in the KGB, and it's known that he was disappointed at the collapse of the USSR, which was an authoritarian regime, so Putin's increasingly tyrannical reign in Russia isn't surprising. What IS surprising is that, given leadership of such a large nation gifted with so many natural resources, there are still homes in parts of Russia without running water flushing toilets or a reliable electricity supply. This is largely due to widespread corruption - taxpayers money that was supposed to be spent on infrastructure and the military actually being siphoned off into individuals bank accounts.
So infrastructure improvement is slow compared to what it could be, and the Russian military, rather than being a well-trained well-equipped, well-led force is instead sending barely trained or even untrained mobiks into combat that have had to buy their own uniforms, first aid kits and protective gear. They are given firearms, tanks and artillery that are decades old, and the command structure is horribly ineffective, and many units barely know who their commanders even are. Unsurprisingly, this leads to huge loss of life in the Russian military, hence Putins frequent attempts to mobilise hundreds of thousands more, in
the vain and idiotic hope that repeating his past mistakes is the way to solve the results of his past mistakes, at the expense of the Russian populace and the Russian economy, which is struggling to fill vital jobs because of the indiscriminate mobilisation of men into the army.
In short, the joke is that the ex-comedian knows how to fight a war and inspire his people better than Grandpa Bunker does. Which is why, nearly 570 days into what was supposed to be an invasion lasting a week or two at most, Russia has lost about half of the territory it initially overran, and continues to lose more Ukrainian territory to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Oh aye - remember Moskva, how easily that was sunk? Do you think the fact that it's vaunted air defence systems were inoperable because it hadn't been maintained properly for years because someone felt that their desire for a new dacha was more important might have had something to do with it?
I've nothing against the average Russian, who like average people all around the world, just want to get on with their lives, have fun, raise a family, etc. But I despise Putin and his regime because their vanity, corruption and incompetence are hurting not only Ukraine, but also the Russian people. There is a reason that far more people have wanted to leave Russia over the years than have wanted to emigrate to it - and that is the crooked regime that unfortunately runs the country.
