Another very informative video!!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
I would NOT have thought of insisting that the vet use plastic boot covers and gloves. Also, good point about the head gate AND having the needed equipment available so that there is no sharing of pathogens! 😬
Typically, the vets expect folks to haul their animal to the clinic for servicing...It does make good sense to just pay the added home visit fee in the effort to minimize exposure to diseases from other cattle.
As you recommend, I had better get a head gate for my calves, as my herd keeps ever expanding!
I LOVE your videos! I am always learning so much! Thanks, again!! 🤩

Yes, bio-security is a priority for us. We have been testing for 20 years and are very protective. Thank goodness our vet is on board and supports our efforts. We feel it is well worth the extra cost for a ranch call. We have a video about our disease testing program. You might enjoy watching it. Our calves didn't miss a beat from the procedure, thank goodness. Sounds like you love jersey cows as much as we do.

No excuse for dehorning if you can have polled genetics, simple as that

    Just why Dehorn or disbudding.
Just get gentle cows or get cows that have none

There shouldn't be any such thing as dairy cows.
