    Clicked on the video just to see the shelf in th background. Looks super stable with cross bracing (I am a structural engineer). Watched some of your take on modern day AR bs and Revit tutorials. Nice going 👍

      @@BelindaCarr By the way, i don't clearly understand the difference between groups and assemblies. Could you explain one day what are the pros and cons.
      Thank you again!

    You're excellent. Thank you for making such informative videos and for making Revit so easy to learn. Even the most complex things of Revit you explain so well by breaking it down into simpler steps. Thank you! Very merry Christmas and happy holidays..

    Great tutorial Belinda! I was hoping that you would also discuss and compare the 2 different methods 'schedule-ability'. Maybe in another video if we are lucky? :)

    Great video, I'd ALWAYS use families, with multiple people working on a file, groups nearly always get corrupted they are in no way as stable as families and generally are a headache, stay clear!

    i wonder if it depends on what's really going on under the bonnet ..perhaps nested family's and groups both just keep only one proxy instance of each geometry in memory and the only thing that needs to be adjusted between each variation are a few parameters ....without A/B testing by looking at file size on disk and in memory as well as cpu load performed on a huge test model we will never know for sure what the real world differences are ..maybe that not much.
    but yes family's seem like the way to go unless you are doing some quick and dirty sketches that need to be out the door like yesterday.

    For the area of the room, you can use In place family model line element (while editing) copy and paste to the Family.

    I have a whole library of 3d AutoCAD cabinets can I bring them into Revit and use them to make Revit family's?

    Thoughts on making units as a nested family with types, for a residential high rise? I want to avoid groups, but I also don't want to make a family that is too complex.

    Hi,
    Does the visibility parameter affect schedules? For example, if the stretcher's visibility is turned off, wont it still appear in schedules?

    • @BelindaCarr
      @BelindaCarr  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for the question. If the stretcher's visibility is turned off, it will not appear in schedules. Same goes for excluding items in a group.. it is automatically removed from schedules.

    Porque cuando inserto varias familias y después purgo el proyecto se borran casi todas las familias?

    Other reasons not to use Groups include: If you change an Elements Offset value in one of the Groups then it will be different from all of the other Groups. In Revit 2018 and newer if you cut an element in a Group it won't cut in all Groups (it used to work in revit 2017 and older). See my post here: forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-architecture-forum/groups-are-differing-in-revit-2018/td-p/7033489

    You can not include System Family in Nested Family.
