  • I needed to replace the bearings from my homemade belt sander. It was time to machine a set of rollers and use completly sealed bearings. You will see the machining and install of the roller in this video. I made 3 pieces but you will just see the making and install of one. No need to make this video longer than needed.

I think it is stainless. Pretty sure.

That metal machined like 4140 pre-hard, it don't do well with small cuts, great looking rollers.

Thanks. The rollers are working great. No sign of wear yet. I ordered mild steel but this is could be 4140 pre-hard. Or anything else. It was harder to machine than normal stainless.

I've been wanting to make different size rollers for my belt sander too. Good to see you back and looking forward to seeing what your future videos are

The size wasn't the problem. I just didn't make the rollers when i build my belt sander.
I have some ideas about future videos. Most of them will be about machining tools and equipment for my lathe. Maybe videos of some commissioned work if the customer allows it.

@@basementprojects4712 Hello, I am a tired 76 year old guy who wants to stay busy, to a point. To start with, I was born at a very young age. I sell blacksmith tools and some custom machine work on Ebay and Etsy. I would like to back off of that and let my 2 sons take it over. In the meantime, I want to make some projects that I have been "meaning to do" for quite some time. Your methods and techniques inspired me to give up the business to my sons. Thank you for your videos! Jerry
