I'm watching from Antigua in the Caribbean, thanks for showing me so many places in Kenya. I have family there and love the country so much. You have a blessed evening.
Thank you for always showing us around. I always feel like the standards of our road markings are far below standard. Secondly, re-tarmacking without landscaping will still make the road appear ugly. Thirdly, they should also paint the dirty concrete median of the Waiyaki-Rironi road at least to make it look like that of the expressway.
I can see they are pouring red soil at the bottom of the elevated expressway, maybe in readiness to plant grass or flowers. Unless they plan to be watering them regularly, i don't see the point of planting them. They should just put cabros and barriers like they did beneath langata road flyover. Rain will not reach most parts beneath the elevated expressway. That is why it is just dusty. Even weeds won't grow.
When they were building the expressway, they seemed to be directing the water from the expressway to the pillar plants. I don't know if they finished that work. Maybe they can extend the pipes to water whatever will be planted where the red soil is.
I dont know. We spend billions meant to make the roads look nice and clean. Not just the immediate roads but side roads , walkways and drainages. There should be no dirt sidewalks and the drainage needs some work. the median needs to have some sort of plants. maybe we need to take an example from rwanda. You will not see any dirt spaces on the side of the roads even where buses park and kiosks are located. The thing is these officials have been abroad and seen how nice and neat thier roads are. There is not a single dirt walkway its all covered with some concrete. Sometime i wonder what these officials when they go abroad are looking at. Just look at any european or American roads on youtube and you will get an idea of how to do proper road. infrastructure. heck just look at Rwanda. We always seem to come up shot when it comes to aesthetics. Thanks dolphine for your hard work showing us the road conditions. Keep it up. Yes more need to be done. All the 9 billion KURA or whoever got it need to up their game. Infact let the chinese do it and come up with their own plans and designs. Kura folk always give us githeri road infrastructure.
Madam Dolphine that is good content especially for people who may have stayed away from our city Nairobi for long and may find the city strange when they get back, thanks for updating us with latest developments
KENHA always does a terrible job when it comes to renovating our roads. They don't understand that a road will still look ugly if they do not do proper landscaping.
can you look for kenha they tell us why they never mark roads in nairobi after construction...look how bad the stretch from westlands via mall to kempiski looks...then the stage at westlands is chaotic..try highlight from kenyatta avenue to valley road...the place was never finished and its almost a year down...that place has been neglected...plus i dont undersyand why the county govt is not opening up uhuru park and it was finished...those mabati fencing are just a turnoff..
Dolphine, for the video you just took, did some parts lose one lane after the expressway was built, or did those parts always have two lanes for each direction?
Besides the painted overpasses and footbridges, my favourite places on this video are the places, beside the lower road, that have mature trees. I hope they continue planting trees so that it can look closer to what I saw on the artist's impression video of the finished project.
WE HAVE GOOD ROADS IN KENYA BUT THE NO PEDISTRIAN WALK WAYS.AND ACTULLY OUR ROAD SIDES ARE DUSTY OR MUDDY . I HOPE ONE DAY OUR GOVERNMENT WILL WORK ON THIS.
If only Kenyans adheer to traffic laws there will be less congestions some congestions are man made and silly especially in roundabouts keeping lane and being mindful and please respect pedestrians at zebra crossings they have right of way!
Why don't we form a group from this online community, go to KENHA offices and ask some serious questions instead of just commenting here? Non-existent/short-lived road markings, dusty and/or non-existent pedestrian walkways, the plan for the mid-section, etc.
Pedestrians are so neglected. Road construction in Kenya doesn't encourage walking at all. Walking would reduce traffic jams. Roads have no shoulders and no walkways. Don't pedestrians pay taxes too?

Kenyan watching you from Texas 🇺🇸
Kenya should benchmark in Rwanda on how to build standard well marked roads with good drainage system and well paved pedestrian walkways.
kudos to kenha they are doing a very good job we need a similar organization for landscaping
They are doing great 👍, plenty of foot bridge.

If only they could also plant grass and put sidewalks along the entire route after recarpeting and marking,,it would change the face of the city!!
i love that paint job
Thanks for your feedback
I like that yellow color that KENHA uses. Inapendeza.

bicycle and walkways for pedestrians is almost non-existant
They should have put coloured cabro instead of red soil that will endup making the road dusty
Maybe they are getting ready to plant grass or shrubs.
Actually, I seem to love all their colors in their logo. They go together well. The yellow is just mwaah.

Nice work
