It wasn’t a dealership but a so called specialist & no a dealership don’t want to sell you a dpf we’d try to fix it first or regenerate.people like you numptys don’t understand the difference between a dealership & specialist, but you can be sure as hell their not special at all, but just see an opportunity to get jobs by putting specialist on their name as average Joe doesn’t want to pay or can’t afford dealership prices they see specialist and think oh that’ll save me loads except rather the opposite. Most of these so called specialists are just oil filter spinners & brake pad changers. They buy illegal cloned Mercedes star machines to make them look professional. Go to a decent independent or someone who does specialise & know what their doing like in this video.
@@madds6678and the reason dealerships are dearer is because they have to invest heavily in training. Master technicians are truly in a league of their own. Flip side to dealers being perceived as expensive is sometimes very wrong. Because they have the training and the auto issued correct original tools to do a job, it can often take them an hour to do a job vs 8 hours in a back street “specialist” garage, so may well work out cheaper in the long run.
Spot on job Jimmy as always, cant belive the so called specialists are unable to do this, and they're probably charging £200 an hr. Its a joke. They need some learning from the master. Keep up the good work and your videos, we have all that follow you, learnt so much from the DPF whisperer 👍👍
great work again Jimmy you should look at setting up a training course to teach techs how to diagnose and fix these problems because after watching many of your vids they obviously don't know .
Your a universal specialist you can fix everything legend i hope i can aspire to be a good mechanic like you one day and not just some generic mechanic 🎉 .
I have just taken my Merc E250 to a local garage with very similar problems with the engine management light on and being in limp mode, and they just stated that the soot content was too high and that they had tried a regen. When I mentioned a DPF clean, they didn't want to know, just saying that it would need a new DPF because the soot content was too high!!! Thanks for your insight that has empowered me with the knowledge to at least challenge this particular garage. Alternatively, I will take the car somewhere else.
The more of these videos I watch it seems that dpf problems can be solved quite easily providing you have to right equipment and knowledge i just can't understand why some garages can't fix them...
Different kinds of techs (any industry) "Same fault I had last week, fix didn't work this time" (90% certain it's not the same fault then is it?) . "If I throw enough parts at it, that will fix it!" (Not if you don't get lucky and change the correct part plus find out what caused it to fail) . "I know what I'm doing, I cleared the right settings but it didn't work!" (Well, you don't know then) . The "Jimmy" *Understands "the system" not just the components*
You must always remember that DPF fill level is just a calculated number. If the differential pressure sensor says there is a high pressure sensor, then the computer will calculate a high fill level. In my case it said 2 bars even with the engine stopped. Obviously impossible. So I bought a new pressure sensor and changed it. A relative small job. And voila suddenly the DPF fill level was okay. The original sensor did last 190 000 km.
Have to say I'm enjoying your channel, I would be interested to see how you do a dpf clean on a 2017 Vauxhall Astra K B16DTH Engine if you ever have to do one in the future 👍

I dont understand the relationship between the differential pressure sensor and the calculated soot ting. Why have both and why did not this car regenerate if the diff press sensor was okay?
Never had a problem with my E350 cdi then again I don’t do short trips, and rag it via paddles once’s a week, I do use a chemical in the Diesel fuel every fill up… 2-EHN 😉😉😉
It's all such elementary stuff to you but in a lot of videos this garage and this main dealer couldnt solve the issue. Id rather buy the equipment then pay the same money to a main dealer or specialist when theyre saying you need a new DPF
It says a lot, when not even the dealer knows how to handle DPF problems. Each country should have its own Jimmy 🙂
They probably just want to fit a new one
@@fanfeck2844 Yep, or only know how to do that - factory will not recommend cleaning, as it's bad for business.

There's a difference between calling yourself a specialist, and actually being a specialist.
Not only one handed, but with his eyes shut too! Jimmy is the DPF Master. He is Neo.

You would expect better service from the specialist especially at the prices they charge 👍
Another great video. Thanks Jimmy

Don't your customers realise you're doing a TH-cam video and talking to the camera? Lol
All the time it happens I'm talking to the camera and the customer is standing behind me answering me 🤣
What diagnostic toll do you use?
