    It took me a long time to not describe my art as "I made it because I thought it looked cool." People want story and substance. Something relatable to latch onto. If it's another artist you can talk materials and the elements/principles of design. Other than that...I've found it's about finding a way to bridge the gaps of interest. Much of my work is movie/game related so I can literally nerd out with fans who see in my work what I'm inspired by.

    You are what you say you are. Your art is what you say it is. The words we say have so much power over what we believe about ourselves, and can change or reinforce our self perception. You have some great tips here, thanks!
