Love your bike rides. Makes me feel less alone in my isolation. I grew up in central London so riding around with you makes me feel nostalgic. And has me spitting feathers at all the tasteless redevelopment!
My 10 year old autistic son is loving these bike rides, at first he said, "That man's walking fast!" Until I explained you were on a bike! Ha! I just cough loudly over the swears...He even went out on his bike today!
Alexei isn't the type to promote himself, but he's a good lad, so I'll do it for him. For the next 3 Wednesdays at 11:30am on Radio 4 series 2 of his Absence of Normal show is on the wireless. Or on BBC Sounds if you can't listen on the day I presume.
@@julianshepherd2038 I was trying to do a play on how both of us have such crumbling infrastructure outside of London that I was envious of people that have them. Looks like it didn't go down too well
Bloody hell! As soon as the houses of parliament hove into view he changes into a Mary Poppins style chimney sweep! "Stip in tyme" ! Great stuff Aleixi. Cant wait to hear your new Radio4 show. Thanks.
Years from now they will find this video and they will say, 'There's Alexei Sayle on a bike.' But there's more to it than even that. It's Liverpool on a London reconnaissance, sceptical, even though Alexei has lived in London most of his life. A nostalgic flashback in time to January, sick and tired you've been hanging on me, from Alexei and the midnight runners.
Triumph was the preferred motorcycle choice of most British Police forces until the factory closed down in 1983, when it opened again under new ownership nearly all forces had already changed over to using the BMW R80 as the parts for the old Triumph bikes had been difficult to source, the Triumph Trophy could easily have been a Police bike but it is no longer in production as Triumph touring bike sales suffered when people turned to Adventure bikes instead mainly because of Ewan McGregor and Charley Boreman riding round the world and filming Long Way Round on BMW R1150GS motorcycles.
Alexei has been part of my life since I can really remember anything comedic other than steptoe and son. It's lovely to see him here on youtube. A comedy hero drivelling about in a town I loved. Keep it up, Alexei. Cops on beemers, though. Bleedin nazis, innit.
At 4.30 - I regret to tell you that there are no Triumph motorcycles currently being made in the UK. All Triumphs are manufactured in Thailand now! That must make BMWs more of a local product. Well, perhaps not so much any more. Thanks for the tour.
Thought you were you going to start singing "The Men Behind The Wire" at the start when you starting talking about armoured cars and tanks (...and guns) 🤣🤣
Good video. Weird to see London so empty. I haven't been into town for over a year now. Oddly enough the streets dont look any wider than they did when packed with cars and people. What the hell have they done with Tottenham Court Road? Its unrecognisable.
BMW RT is the best for city work, stop/start, stationary and unmatched power, and safety devices. BMW is actually a cheaper supplier to the Police than Ford or Vauxhall.
Alexei, why don't you do a London to Brighton there and back weekend, camping wild and a few beers and a wee campfire? Now that would be brilliant. I have done it a lot...I believe, with your personality, you'd encourage others to do so, too...
Greetings from Florida, USA. I've just stumbled upon this channel and love it! Such personality here! i'm wondering now, are you folks still in lockdown? I though that had been lifted recently. Wonderful day to you!

I dont think alexei realizes how amazing the city looks to an antipodean. The trappings of empire represented by those imposing buildings makes me shake my head in wonder. Then i saw 'the prince of wales dry cleaners' and had a good chuckle.
Go into a bike shop, lycra shorts & shirts hanging up! Can I help you sir ! Ah ! yes, Have you any XL Parakeet costumes ? I like to be safe riding around London !! :)
You bet a much smoother film if you used an ebike. As a good cyclist the motor would switch off at 15 mph but the start wouldn't be less wobbly. And you can blether more easily on hills.
Enjoying these. Keep 'em coming Alexei. If you can add some biting Marxist commentary on statues and buildings you pass that are devoted to capitalism, even better. So much fun to be had, especially in the Westminster area.
Alexei "Those boxes are not for motorbikes-6 points on yer licence!"....Alexi then immediately mounts the pavement for a cycle along it! ...Ha! Alexei!!!
That was interesting shit. Hello from Liverpool Alexei Lad.😂 Get yourself back home for a cycle around town and tell us how it's changed since your day. Oh you went to my old school. Alsop. 😂👌👍
Agree totally with your electric scooter comments. In fact, I would go further and insist they had to have a license and a test. Well done for your safety on a bike comment. If your techno guy can display your routes on google maps, would be nice. Enjoy your ad hoc commentary.
Hey Alexei, have you ever run anyone over on your bike then reversed over them, then forward over them again just to double check that you had hit them? Eh, have ya?

Norton and Triumph. The police Triumph was known as the Saint. I nearly bought a second hand one many years ago. Dead handy for getting cars in front to pull over one would imagine.
Great to watch , Thanks Alexei ...London is changing fast, and you are capturing the moment ...I adore these little journey's !

These are brilliant. Alexei Sayle was such a big influence along with the other alternative comedians of the 80s
