How to fibreglass wrong

  • It’s wrong because there’s nowhere near enough resin used, insufficient time for the fibreglass to ‘wet out’ plus no use of the correct tool to consolidate the glass and resin. These are just some of the things that make fibreglass go wrong. You don’t want fibreglass on a pond going wrong for any reason. These things go wrong because the installer does not understand how fibreglass should be done properly. Putting multiple coats of topcoat or resin on to fix pinholes is not the correct way to fix bad fibreglass as you’ll see in part 2.

Love a good leaker 😊 ,I once had to plaster an old 17th century pub ,the landlord wanted rough plaster between the beam to make it look old ,and not floating my own boat, but my plastering is like glass ,the landlord had to stand behind me and tell me to stop flattening it ,like you say it's hard to do a bad job when you are a pro

The thing I sometimes get is ‘I don’t care what the finish is like as long as it’s waterproof’. I just tell them to buy from someone who doesn’t care.

The biggest issue I have had in my own fiberglassing is when rolling it out with a bubble buster the fiberglass bunches and creates huge problems. It’s amazing what a mess it becomes in amateur hands.
