I've never seen this film, i plan to though. This shatters me. He closed his eyes and his last thought, to feel the slightest bit safer, for the smallest bit of hope, comfort, was ro think of the person he loved the most. This made me reflect on what or who I'd think about before death, i found his performance incredibly moving. Additionally, how the person you love the most would react? Her reaction was gut-wrenching. Her cries, her lack of stability. Their acting was devastating. You don't even need context to recognize the story here. The cinematography of the scenes, the directing, the acting is heartbreaking and beautiful. Props to everyone involved.
Explanation for this scene: Johann Friedrich Struensee was a German doctor who was hired as the personal doctor of King Christian VIII, who was suffering from mental illness, thus being incapable of ruling the nation. The liberal Struensee used the king's trust to take power in Denmark, instituting a number of reforms. Also, he had an affair with the Queen, Caroline Mathilde of Denmark, who shared the same thoughts with him. Eventually, the conservative ministers arrested him, and the Queen was exiled. What we see here is Struensee being executed for his crimes against Denmark. Signed Mikkeller
The King issued a pardon for Struensee, but this didn't materialise in time to stop Struensee from being beheaded. He later regretted not being able to spare his life.
Literally had an affair with the Queen and a bastard daughter (both characters existed). Dowager Queen seemed to get her grandson on the throne and keep her son King since Johann Strunsee (the beheaded) was basically running the country very well.
Mads is such a underrated actor. He played this so amazing. I can feel his sadness around my skin when he was crying.
When i watched this Movie for the first time of cried so hard 😭😭😭😭😭

The King considered Struensee a great man, even after his execution.
I don't think he deserved to die, but he also betrayed the king, a man who trust on him.
@@pabloernestogarciagandara1249 The King, however, still considered Struensee a great man, and expressed regret at not being able to spare his life.
@petercdowney The king was lied to, by executing Strunesee behind his back.
This video just no more than 3 minutes but can make me crying and sad for days
2:10 She can definitely make ear piercing cries
A moment of silence for any headphone users listening at max volume..
Thanks for the warning.
Unfortunalely, his right hand was cut off before

"Don't get mad, get even" as the saying goes. I should have done that in her position.
not historically correct, he was not just beheaded, he was first tortured on the scaffold, among other things he had his hand chopped off
Yeah and then drawed and quatered.😮
But it wouldn't be suitable for the movie.
왕보다 훨신 훌륭한 자였는데 안타까울뿐임
저새끼 병신에 변태인데
Yes, the king was a useless parasite.
미개한 시대 선각자의 운명
what about the part where he cuts off his hand? and then puts his limbs on wheels
R.I.P

He wasn't killed by a Guillotine, he was killed by the axe and executioner
