I honestly had never heard of wax packs before this video, but the thing still just looks and sounds like it’s nostalgic. I hope to see more people making their own wax packs. Lol, I did not expect the foil joke 😂 I appreciate these little skits you’ve thrown in your videos! This is a great video and I hope to see more from you soon. Welcome back Scott!
Hey man, love the direction you're taking things. It's a great strategy and doesn't feel like a gimmick or a soulless algorithm optimization, super impressed with how you've come back from hiatus. Your execution and long term commitment are a sign of true strength, cheers brother.
This is good information. Making my own cards could be a good side gig. Having a fancy way to pack them would make them more appealing. It would give the cards a surprise aspect to each pack.
So I was kinda watching this while having some snacks. So its nice to see different stuff, like the packs which i never seen when i was young. As always a pleasure to find your videos entertaining, keep it rolling :)
A very interesting process to achieve that look and feel. The bubblegum tape is a pretty neat idea, maybe Zebra gum if it's still around would work as well.
Cool how to for old card packs. Bubble tape and tube gum were my favorite gums back when I was a kid. 😋 Update on my project, as of this posting I have the first 6 volumes scripted and have finished the panels and lettering for 146 pages of volume 1.
This is an awesome video. Just what I was looking for. 2 👍🏽👍🏽up!!!! But I wonder if you know that the case your gum comes in can cut your gum. You just pull out the length you want and then close it to cut. Just an FYI. Thanks again Scott and I look forward to more cool videos like this one.
So glad you liked the video, I’m happy you discovered it. It’s funny I did know the bubble tape could cut the gum but totally forgot. Thanks for reminding me.
Definitely doing these for my comic's cards and tagging you! Question, when you print, do you fit to page or print actual size? I know how the printing part can throw off sizing. Much love and support!
I have had the same problem with printers. I had a Canon Pixma and it worked well for a while, but the ink is expensive. I started using after-market ink and save a lot of money but it eventually stoped printing blue. Because I was not using Canon's ink it voided the warranty so now it's I giant paperweight. I printed the wax packs at the office supply store and the stickers I had professionally printed and and die cut.
I have been wanting to make my own art cards for years now but I didn't want to do it if I couldn't make a wax wrapper like the trading card packs I grew up with in the 1970S- so this video is a godsend! I can't wait to get started. However I have one question though- what printer are you using? I cannot find a color laser printer that comes close to printing accurate colors. All my pinks and magentas look red and the yellows are dull. Any suggestions?
Hey Keith, I’m glad you found the video and that it was helpful. You are definitely the kind of person I was trying to reach with this video. To answer your question I just ended up printing my wrappers on a self serve copy machine at Office Max. (Using the method of attaching the tracing paper to the copy paper as shown in the video) Unfortunately you can’t always get the same vibrant colors as the original wax pack. Those were printed using spot colors and it’s a totally different printing method than what we can do as DIYers. This is the closest I can get to the look and feel of the original wax packs but it’s still an entirely different process.
@@ScottSerkland Thanks so much for the quick reply! I joined you Patreon because you have so much great content! I have a small screen printing shop, so I am thinking about printing the cards myself on chipboard to get that authentic feel. So now I am wondering if I can screen print directly onto the tracing paper? I never tried it...
I'm 32 years old. Stickers and such have been packaged in chromium foil aka plastic my entire life. That is what I find nostalgic. This guy is an actual boomer lolol... WAX packs?! He is chasing an ancient vibe... 😅 The weiner and bun thing is also totally a thing of the past, as buns and dogs have come in the same quantities for quite some years now. Get with the times lol... 😅😅
This channel was definitely not made for you. I appreciate the feedback. But I’ll keep doing what I’m doing. thanks for stopping by and for the engagement. Every little bit helps. Have a good one.
Hi Scott, long-time subscriber. Got hooked on the tutorial videos in the Art Hacks and 100 Days Of Making Comics series'. I'm loving the new style, quality and focus. I'm keeping this one bookmarked because I know I'll have fun with it, and can probably find some good practical use for it. Passing this along to friends and family, 'cause I know plenty of them like to do their own crafts. This is a really cool project! Looking forward to whatever you're cooking up next (even if it's gross, haha) :)
The conspiracy cam skit was too funny 😂
Thanks! Glad you liked it. More to come!
Me imagining that packs of cards were always foil lol. Very fun video, now I want to make my own wax packs too!
You should! Good luck!

Thank you. That means a lot.
That is really cool!! I used to love wax packs especially any of the late 80s gross out stuff and Wacky Packages.
Me to! On my last live stream I unpacked a bunch of classic gross out card and sticker wax packs
Nice to see you back! I feel less sad than I did when you did your sign-off video.
😊
Thanks. Sorry to keep you waiting. I needed to figure out what I wanted to do differently on the channel. Now you know.
This is good information. Making my own cards could be a good side gig.
Having a fancy way to pack them would make them more appealing.
It would give the cards a surprise aspect to each pack.
Absolutely, I think you will really like this technique, It's not too tricky and the packs look great!
This is awesome Scott! It's a ways down the road for me, but I see Dinosaur and classic monster sticker packs in my future!
That would be awesome!
This is fantastic! I may need to create some cards and stickers just to try this out!
You totally should!
Brilliantly done. The end result looks fantastic.
Thank you very much! I’m happy you liked them.
This is such a brilliant idea I can barely stand it!!!!
Thanks, Glad you like it!
These look so authentic! Love it! Great work Scott, what a rad pack you did!
Thanks a ton, Josh, this might be my favorite video I’ve done so far.
So I was kinda watching this while having some snacks. So its nice to see different stuff, like the packs which i never seen when i was young. As always a pleasure to find your videos entertaining, keep it rolling :)
Will do! Thanks!
OMG! You almost killed me with your intro and conspiracy cam! Love your video! I'm binge catching up!
That's Awesome! I'm glad your enjoying the content. More to come!
Very Cool Scott. Love what you’re doin with the new videos!!!
Thanks Landon. Glad you like them! More to come!
Yess! I have been waiting for this!
Me too! I’m happy I finally get to show everyone.
❤ what a fantastic video! Amazing production!
Thank you so much! I'm glad the extra production quality is evident.
thats pretty cool
Thanks!
Great video, Scott. Loving the new videos
Thanks Ronnie! I’ll be going more in depth on how to make wax packs on a livestream today.
Epic work.! Love them.! 👊😎
Thank you! Cheers!
Great job on thr wax pack. Now you just need a display box for the packs. That would make a great video also.
Yeah, I’d like to do that at some point.
Haven't checked in in a while : awesome video !
Hey Yann, good to see you pop in. I’m trying some new stuff here on You tube.
A very interesting process to achieve that look and feel. The bubblegum tape is a pretty neat idea, maybe Zebra gum if it's still around would work as well.
Thanks. I think you can still find Fruit Stipe gum. At specialty candy shops.

Wow! You’ve been super productive. Congratulations on all the hard work.
looks sick!
Thanks!
Fascinating process, better you than me though! so much work :p
I had fun with it. Didn’t seem like work.

Thanks, I print the labels actual size. You can fit two lables on a standard sheet of printer paper.
What kind of printer you use? I’ve never had one that printed worth a damn 😂 I saw in a older video you even printed the cards.

@Serkworks Art Lab , do you have any trading card templates for A4 printers?
I was going to do the trial and error myself, but I figured I would ask.
Unfortunately no. But the templates I have can be cut out and pasted into an A4 size document with plenty of room to spare.
hey😃
Hey, thanks!
Subscribed. Yo! MTV Rap cards came in a plastic that tasted horrible. Wax paper looks yummy 🤤
Thanks! I might have to track down those Yo MTV Raps cards.
Foil is for left over turkey sandwiches 😂🤣man you kill it on break down and getting it done🫡
Thanks so much! Glad you liked the video.
Are the scooby doo and a team van toys behind you playmobile brand?
Yes they are!
3:29 How in the world did you turn into Dana Carvey?!!
Ha Ha, afer watching Wayne's World 100 times it was bound to rub off on me.
