  • 88 days of our Cape Town summer compressed into one megasode! Our friend Ian lends us his Pajero, which we immediately start using to go on missions around Cape Town. First up- we head to the Boss 400 to explore the freezing ass water around Cape Town. Shortly after Brian fixes the turbo charger on Delos's main engine. We then take a road trip to Up The Creek and soak in a real Afrikans Festival in the middle of a floaty party in a river. Returning from our party adventures we hang out with the awesome pirates from SV Convivia where our friend Tucker ends up giving all 3 of us tattoos! Finally the Girl Crew season begins with the arrival of Miss England and Miss Austria. We begin preparing Delos to venture across the Atlantic from Africa to South America. Hope you enjoy and sending much love and peace to you all. - The Delos Crew

      Love the longer episodes! It's not always about perfectly edited quick scenes. For a lot of us, its just escaping daily life and spending some time in your shoes. So I Love the longer vids and would enjoy many more :) Get us caught up a little bit!!

    • @sergey_sovetsky
      @sergey_sovetsky 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Regarding the length of episode - you see the comments - most people excited to watch it. You're above the crowd, so you can screw the rules and make any length videos, people will watch them. I know how much time and effort it takes to create quality video, so won't recommend anything :) It's pretty much up to you - you decide, how long episodes should be. For quality videos like this - the longer is better :) Fair winds!

    I LOVED the longer episode, mainly because watching new crew come aboard and gift giving to show the appreciation for Ian put yet more tears into my eyes. I have been watching Delos now faithfully for over 5 years and it just keeps getting better and better. Not even a high budget TV show can replace you guys. I hope to see more 1 hour eps please. Maybe once every three months or so? Thanks again for the incredible entertainment.

    Loved every second of it. As usual, the end brings one almost to tears, like saying, "Until we meet again." to an old friend.

      How the hell do you guys make these long episodes without catching up to yourselves time-wise? It feels like there is way more than a week worth of content in every episode, and still you release a video each week. I just don't get it!

    I've just found Delos on TH-cam. You are all so much better to watch than anything on TV nowadays and in these Lockdown times I'm delighted to be trawling through your entire series bit by bit...
    I was born disabled and - though I've managed to live a pretty non-disabled life generally and have my own lovely family and all that - I do really love seeing parts of the world that I could never get to nowadays. Previous generations had virtually no chance to see different parts of the world so I feel privileged to be able to see your world - and our World! - through these videos.

    Hi All, just had to say, this was a packed full edition of many great things. I can see people are enjoying the length of videos, how can we not, you have become so darn good at this..I’ve been meaning to say for some weeks now, what I love most is the way you all individually talk to a camera, it’s just a camera for goodness sakes, but you talk to us, laugh with us, share your feelings with us, & you have no idea who we are, how many of us there are watching, it’s personable & it’s done so naturally in the middle of an ocean, on land.. and I just love 💕 the compassion, gratitude that comes through the other side of the lens.. keep this great stuff up, the world needs you guys, it restores my faith in human nature, and to respect our blue planet & just love one another & forget the small shit in life & be happy.. thank you Delos, I just love my Friday nights with you all... 🇦🇺🌺Kristen

    Hey SV Delos! I don't say much in the comments area. I just constantly watch your life adventure and try not to be jealous.
    your MEGASODE needs to be repeated on some sort of regular basis. Just epic to me. Thanks to you for who you are
    and for the great adventure you share with so many of us. My prayers are with you all. May the winds always be favorable.

    I watch Delos on TH-cam. It makes me think of my kids spent youth working hard in healthcare as a Respiratory tech. This if course wasn't known back then. Now I'm in my mid sixties and unable to do this lifestyle.

    What do we think of the longer format stuff? It was simply the fastest 55 minutes I have ever spent of my life. I remember seeing all those episodes and they were all wonderful. Your video photography id nothing short of excellent, your editing superb, and narration beautiful You all are great, but Brian, you were born for this stuff. Your vocal style is soothing and so friendly. You are living the dream so many of us have, and some of us just have to live vicariously through you all. Seems the later generations have so many more opportunities, previous ones didn't...but thank you so much for allowing us to share in your wonderful adventures. There is no wonder why you guys are so popular all over the world. Fair winds and calm seas. We love you.

    I'm pausing at the beginning so I don't forget this comment. There are very few channels on TH-cam that I'll be interested in enough to watch a long video but SV Delos is the exception. Each video ends to soon for my tastes. I've loved all of your videos so my 2 cents worth is always going to be. Longer is better. Thanks for all the hard work you guys do to bring us the amazing videos.

    This episode is both "mighty" and "substantial". You guys do things in a way that I find to be more informative while still being greatly entertaining (from what I have found on youtube). This episode was something like a great multi-course meal; whereas, the shorter episodes are like a really good but more simple meal. So many things shown to us, I like! It is nice to be introduced to people that you find special in your adventures. Also nice to meet your new crew! As always . . . . thanks for sharing.

    We absolutely LOVE the long video! Instead of switching gears and all the clicking, we were able to sit down as a family and watch this episode in full and it was marvelous! You certainly have a way of filming that keeps us at the edge of our seats and constantly exclaiming at both the beauty and adventure as well as the quality of your video itself. Truly magnificent and you should be proud! I can imagine what an undertaking it would be to compile and edit a work like this, and you certainly have my respect, hands down. What an amazing megasode! Loved it all! Wife and I are seriously looking at the Amel line for our "GO" boat. We really don't think we want to take our current bumper boat around the world. Altho as you noted, no matter what we all see the same stuff, anchor in the same marina's. I just really fell in love with the cockpit, cockpit engine room, and a lot of the technological advancements reflected in the AMEL line. Currently if we lost everything we most certainly COULD (and would) take our bumper boat around the world, but it wouldn't be as comfortable as we would like. Plus after seeing the 40 - 50 knot sailing you were doing out there in the Southern Pacific really made me question the size and configuration of our current ride, and your sanity :). And I most certainly want to spend some time down exploring some of the harder to reach southern islands, Pitcairn, Easter Island, etc. The one thing that really struck me as nice on Delos is that you have a nice comfortable place to sit and relax, both above and below decks. And your freaking galley! And the storage! OMG!!!!
    Peace and love! Keep the sticks pointed up!

    • @kyleroberts3600
      @kyleroberts3600 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, the Amel 53 sailing ketches--is one of the two best world clas cruising yachts if her size in the world, strong as a bull and with 6 or 7 watertight bulkheads, safety sailing concerns all the way. Mr. Amel knew what he was really doing when he designed this class of sail'n yachts, IMHO...

    My name is Rodney Anderson and I have been following you from the beginning. I work as a contractor for the state department in Afghanistan and you are part of the reason I will get to my retirement goal. I plan on retiring on a sailboat and living the type of life you document every week. To comment on your recent 1 hour video....you can do no wrong. You are without question the best channel on youtube for sailors that is. I was raised on a sailboat by a father who went sailing when all others were heading to port because the weather was bad. We had a 30 foot Canadian sloop that nearly sunk on port tacks but survived due to my 9 year old brother and his 7 year old siblings bailing skills.You guys are the epitome of the American explorer spirit and kudos for being brothers and not killing each other after all these years together. If I were you I would take all those youtube standards and toss them off in the deepest trench of the ocean. What you document every week should become the standard for all nautical youtubers to follow. In short it's readily apparent that you guys love what you do. It's not about the location it's that you love what you do and it shows. When that ends you will know it's time to move on....it's that simple.I have lived a life my way, no kids, no house, jack of all trades master of none. I travel all over the world and will retire by the time I hit 60 if all goes to plan. I will acquire my boat and exit the US spending as much time as it takes to rediscover myself meaning the deck hand I was in my youth. Return to the sea to pick up where my juvenile self left off exploring the world one nautical mile at a time. You guys are smart and have a solid grasp of the human race as offered by your experiences on youtube and your contact with so many other cultures. If you are still sailing, and I am still alive by 2020 I will be in touch. I don't look or act my age and would love to experience cruising first hand before going off on my own. You as brothers are the benchmark for cruisers and nothing beats first hand experience for someone starting off on his own. I am a generator technician by trade and a first rate electrician by experience. My next trick will be to learn how to cook for hungry sailors and sushi is my favorite food on earth. I say what ever comes to mind....do it. As long as you are having fun doing it your subscribers will eat it up. Those of us living through you will continue to thrive until we get out on our own. Keep up the good work and enjoy the ride as long as it lasts. Rodney L Anderson

      Hi Rodney!
      Wow what an awesome comment to read! Thank you so much for your kind words. It really made us smile. We're so happy that you enjoy the videos. It's been a long journey with a lot of ups and downs but we've always stayed true to one another. I think that's the beauty of sailing- you have to stick together and work hard together.
      Really excited for your dream to take shape! You should! Life is too short to not be happy, and you should always pursue your own path. It sounds like you are doing exactly that.
      So we raise a glass to you, my friend, of whom we are sure we will one day meet. Sending you much love from all of the crew from the bottom of our hearts.

    As you might expect from the thumbs up, yes, I enjoyed your extended length format. I did not find it to be deluted with filler. stories with a bit of depth are just better stories. Your videos come across as genuine. Honest interactions that almost bring us aboard and give us a seat on deck or around the saloon table. In my humble opinion that's really the key to your loyal following.

    Stumbled across this channel a few month and started watching the last season. Pretty soon i felt i had to go back a few seasons. Started watching season 5, and watched till the ens of season 7. After that i started from the beginning and watched till here. Of all the seasons i have watched yet and of all the amazing people you met or invited as crew i would say that Lisa, Liz and Alex Blue is the stars! Absolutly loved the dynamic of the group, their creatitvity and personality! Greetings from Sweden

      Hi Delos crew, awesome vid. For the amount of ground you guys covered, the length of the vid. was just fine. I think when you you're just covering the average sailing day where not much really happens-the shorter vid is just right also. But lets say: when there are some hairy and difficult sailing times going on-or the times when things get interesting difficult on board-or the unexpected happens takes place-than the longer videos are welcomed and justified. We the tribe--all enjoy the short-and long of it. Keep doing an awesome job of video editing, and great story telling, And yes, I know you'll sort it out. ''I Like It!'' ''I Like It a Lot!'' LOL Sailing is what we love, and sailing is what want. Sail on, don't look back!

    I just found your channel a few days ago...so glad, I'm loving all your content. I'm up to about 30 videos watched so far I think, subscribed, and looking forward to new content, though enjoying the older content as well. I love how laid back everyone is, how it's like family, and all the guys are respectful and the ladies can feel relaxed enough to be around the boat as natural as they want, without feeling like prey. Great camera/video work...it feels like being right there with you. I've been all over the world, while I was in the military, but you all have been to places I've never even heard of, and I always enjoy seeing/experiencing new things...so really appreciate you all sharing. Stay safe Delos crew!

    The hose you have used for the exhaust is fuel delivery hose. Not appropriate for marine exhaust, hence the delamination of the old one. Marine exhaust hose is marked as that. Is made by several manafacturers and should not be hard to find in Cape Town.
    Loving the videos, thanks.

    What a great job of editing.....no doubt a large labor of love! Somehow the Delos crew can keep even a large episode interesting. I especially enjoy the trouble-shooting and repair segments.....I always learn something valuable. Without the fortitude and self-discipline of the camera operators, there would be only words in episodes. Thank you once again.....

    longer formats are better cause well you have alot of good stuff to show ,the more the better incase of youre yourneys . its also much nicer when eating dinner and watching a new episode and the show stil running instead of having it stop while stil eating . and also youtube goes per time watched instead of how many views per video so 2 of 30mins would give the same as 1 with 60mins. and even with 3 of you editing 1episode well i only knew that cause you told it very nicely done.this is just to much better then some show on tv keep up the awesum stuff but never overwork youreself ,

    The day you decide to settle down and join the real world, call me. I sit in my 9000 sqft house, my 120k car parked in the garage, looking at a ridiculous $600 pen on my desk I think I have used once since I bought it, while Delos vids play on my monitor. I doubt I have had 1/1000 the real happiness, joy and desire for life in the last ten years of my life, that you seem to have in one episode. The trappings of life are just that, traps. You have freedom, and the ability, to follow where your heart leads, never ever undervalue that. Fair winds for you and pray for us in irons on the hard. Thanks so much for the great videos, they give me hope and a reason to change.
