Our mind controls our body. I believe it’s more accurate to define this as a problem with different parts of the brain not communicating properly with other parts of the brain. Ie, a brain “network” dysfunction. I’ve had it 7 years. I’m adapting and making life adjustments to maximize functionality. Probably if I was properly diagnosed sooner, and had appropriate treatments I’d be better off today. It was years before I was properly diagnosed. Once I learned what was actually happening, I started learning more about how to improve.

40 years old i developed FND after surgery for spinal issues. It has been 7 years of unimaginable pain and loss of motor function. I have recently started Kentamine assisted psychotherapy and find its helping a little so im keeping my hopes up. I do wish i was able to find mor knowledgeable help here in NY

The diagnosis of FND should be considered a good diagnosis- it is something which can be successfully treated!

Unfortunately the statistics don't agree with this

@@Zero-Cool_ patients are in the most part lacking of ebabling care or a good explanation of the condition. With better care recovery rates could be improved. FND is a treatable illness.

The mind has a part to play but this seems to be a rather poorly discussed fact. You mention DSM so fully discuss the old illness of Conversion disorder and how this was treated as a mental illness. It is not appropriate to swap names of illness and then allow every patient to think the symptoms are real. Some patients with alleged FND do feign, fake, or copy others. Patients are not properly treated. Not every child has trauma some just want to opt out of something or opt into illness. The parents mindset often sets the childs course of illness. There is more hysteria now than there ever was simply because we allow it!
