    Myofascial paid syndrome is the most common manifestation of chronic pain. It is very effectively treated with dry needling and electrico-microcurrent. Activity pacing does not help it.

    The diagnosis of FND should be considered a good diagnosis- it is something which can be successfully treated!

  • @lindasmith8771
    @lindasmith8771 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The mind has a part to play but this seems to be a rather poorly discussed fact. You mention DSM so fully discuss the old illness of Conversion disorder and how this was treated as a mental illness. It is not appropriate to swap names of illness and then allow every patient to think the symptoms are real. Some patients with alleged FND do feign, fake, or copy others. Patients are not properly treated. Not every child has trauma some just want to opt out of something or opt into illness. The parents mindset often sets the childs course of illness. There is more hysteria now than there ever was simply because we allow it!

    Um, Hi so my son is now 14 in 2024 he got diagnosed with FND in march 2022 however he was always recovering from a concussion at the time which has turned into Post Concussive Syndrome. Both me and my son have been taking each day as it comes. He was doing really well and then my father of all people (we both thought he was a safe stable support) become violent and because of that we are homeless and living in a hostel, oh and fyi we live in australia, since february 2024. My son since the end of april has had multiple issues with his body functions including feeling paralysed- ish from the waist down. Can fnd be retriggered by circumstances? And how can i help him? He is currently in a wheelchair for planter fasciitis in both feet, which has become numbness and not remembering he has legs at times. Thank you Your youtube videos and the resources help. Hugs

    My 18 year old son been dealing with his FND for a very long time. We think 4th grade. UnFortunately for him he had other issues. It’s the puppet and the Puppeteer. The best way I can describe FND. OT/PT Dr is helping him be aware of how his FND feels. Before, as it acts ups, and after. To reroute, take the movement, being able to talk, see, whatever back. To be the Puppeteer. The one pulling the strings. It’s an everyday, always a part of his life. We need to remember they have FND they are not FND. Believe them. Let them take the lead. They need to understand and learn what they can and can’t do and when they want to say “Get the H**l out of my way (FND) I’m in control of my life. We have to let them do it. But provide the support they will need for the days they have to fight harder, need a hand just to get up. We won’t be here forever but we can make sure they have all they need to be who they want. Do what they want. And have people to support and love them along the way.

    Our mind controls our body. I believe it’s more accurate to define this as a problem with different parts of the brain not communicating properly with other parts of the brain. Ie, a brain “network” dysfunction. I’ve had it 7 years. I’m adapting and making life adjustments to maximize functionality. Probably if I was properly diagnosed sooner, and had appropriate treatments I’d be better off today. It was years before I was properly diagnosed. Once I learned what was actually happening, I started learning more about how to improve.

    for me, my question is, does FND cause someone to twist, pull and turn their, neck, hands, arms in different slow postures, with spasmodic vocal speech that is not in context? Does FND cause muscle contractions that contract like electrical spasms in the neck, completely involuntary? My son does have premonitory urge and coprolalia ect. but this is different. its intense, he is pain and its exhausting him but he is having the type of tics that are spasmodic in nature in speech ( vocal tics). This is involuntary. he has all the tics, they come and go and he can suppress for periods of time. We are used to that now but this presentation of the twisting and turning of hands, wrists, then the speech that looks like and sounds very spasmodic, plus the electrical muscle spasms that sometimes turn his head to the side. when he was young, we had a moment where he could not close his mouth for a few minutes, like his jaw was locked? as it used to swing left to right all the time, he could not control it. it didnt last long but he was in pain, like he is with his neck now. Does this sounds like FND? whats the difference between Functional dystonia and cervical dystonia?

    • @TeenFND
      @TeenFND 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question. There are so many ovelaps between functional dystonia and cervical dystonia, so it would be difficult to tease out and say, "yes, that twitch is functional!" or something like that. Semi-good news is that the treatment for both conditions are fairly similar = if you work with a FND specialist, then that provider may be able to treat both conditions at the same time.

    FND is the throw away box f/ uninitiated neurologists, much like Fibromyalgia and CFS are for your run of the mill internal medicine doctor. Ask me how I know…Air Force officer with service connected NMOSD/Sjogren’s/Dysautonomia, originally blown off as anxiety and FND. Which cost me use of most of my body (nursing home now). There’s an organic reason for all disease, Dr. Souhel Najjar helped broach this…

      So sorry to hear about your daughter’s struggles! Obviously without knowing any details, I’m wondering if the providers you have worked with, assuming every one of them was FDN specialist, recommended anything else, like a higher level of care- day program or inpatient rehab program. Sometimes doing things in an a la cart fashion may not move the needle. This makes me want to make a video about how to distinguish what levels of care teens may need or benefit from…. Stay tuned!!!

    Other than mindfulness which has helped a lot - do you have any recommendations for spasms, they’re debilitating. I’m retraining my nervous system, meditation, yoga etc, the spasms are in my sleep, when I’m awake, etc. thankyou. 🩷

    • @TeenFND

      Sounds like you are doing a lot! There are so many nuances to resolve FND just because our brain is so complex at times! That being said, I always like to start with this question - what is your goal? Other than getting rid of FND, what else? It can be super small like what you would do today or this morning, but the hallmark of resolving FND starts with improving your daily functioning level, with or without your symptoms. I’ll make a video on this one so stay tuned!!

    This was extremely helpful. I will be checking out your other vidoes as well. My daughter was recently diagnosed and has been really struggling. She loves school and gets perfect grades despite all the struggles she faces, but we have been missing quite a few days due to her symptoms. We have a care plan in place that is mostly helpful but I think she could benefit from a 504 or something. Do you think its normal to receive a diagnosis without any kind of MRI or blood work? All she had was an EEG and a physical. Her condition is getting worse and harder to manage. She is seeing a therapist (who had no clue what FND was) but it doesnt seem to be helpful. In fact, now the biggest thing my daughter worries about is if she will ever live a normal life.

    • @TeenFND
      @TeenFND 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Glad to help!! Depending on the types of FND, some neurologists opt not to do more extensive tests such as MRI, CT scan, etc. Many families also pursue a formal accommodation like a 504 plan so that the child gets the support needed. I have a free webinar on my website about why seeing a regular therapist who doesn’t know what FND is doesn’t help. It’s not your child’s fault! Hello, 🐦🐦🐦🦮🐶🐶 God the Father loves you so much that He sent Holy Sinless Jesus (His Holy Son) to earth to be born of a virgin.Then, to grow up and die on a cross for our sins. He was in the tomb for 3 days, then Father God raised Holy and Sinless Jesus Christ (Y'shua) to Life! He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must receive Sinless Jesus sincerely to be God's child(John 1:12).After we get saved by grace through faith in Christ, if we truly love the Lord Jesus Christ, then we will obey Jesus(John 14:15). Mark 1:15 "And saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: Repent ye, and believe the gospel." Jesus said in John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. "There's a real hell. It says in Revelation 21:8 "But for the cowardly, & unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, & immoral persons sorcerers & idolaters & all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire & brimstone..." Please sincerely receive Holy Jesus and put your true faith & trust in Him today and please repent. Will you have a Real encounter with Holy Lord Jesus (Y'shua is His Hebrew Name) and stay in a Genuine relationship with Him daily please?

    i generally like your content however this sounds great but the most traumatic thing my daughter who is a teenager told us was how embarrassing an episode in front of her peers other teens have been Teens can be mean, make horrible comments , video tape and take pictures of other children in a very vulnerable state and not all teachers are on board with a plan or protecting your child during an episode. this sounds great but it is not reality! my daughter has cried countless times from feeling socially isolated to be forced to have episodes in front of her peers. i can’t speak for everyone i can only say this approach made my daughter worse. And many providers still push for this, HS is a difficult place we were all teens but it’s as though providers have forgot what that phase of life felt like. As i said i generally like your content, however for us this approach made everything worse.

    I’m so glad we found the cause of my fainting! Otherwise I would be concerned I have FND because I also have Tourette’s. And sometimes when I faint my muscles go into spasms that look like a seizure, but apparently it has something to do with the brain oxygen levels or something like that. When I realized my fainting episodes all happen after flashbacks, we were able to pinpoint that I switch between hyperventilating and holding my breath during flashbacks which can be very dangerous and cause me to pass out. I’ve had my fair share of concussions due to this but I’m glad I’ve figured it out so that now when I have flashbacks, the people around me know to tell me to breathe slow deep breaths so that I don’t pass out!

      Thank you for your question! I haven't come across with any specific diets for FND, but general recommendations are to address possible inflammation in your system. Very generic information can be found here: fndhope.org/?s=nutrition I will do more research and share a video when I find something more specific:)

      Ugh....I'm so sorry to hear your struggles! The diagnosis of FND is given by a medical professional, most likely neurologists. If you can find a neurologist in your area, call them and ask if they are familiar with FND. If the answer is yes, then it's worthy of seeing the neurologists. If the answer is either "no" or "it's all in your head," then you know you need to find another neurologist who can listen to you and get it. This has been so helpful! I am on the wrong profile for my dog lol but I got your link on Facebook. I appreciate this advice and looking inward at the things I can do different. He is 17 and I do bombard with questions and medical information. I probably would have spiraled as well to all the appointments and therapies and this helped me check myself to slow down and be proactive in the sense of what he wants and his own independence.

      Fantastic that you found me! Many parents say the same thing about asking questions to their child. Remember, it's a normal action as a caring parent! And there are things you can do slightly differently to make a huge difference. Hope you find other videos helpful too! Thank you so much for stopping by!

    The real question is how to find a therapist, whether psych or PT, versed in FND.

    My daughter 11 she suffered a concussion 7 months ago. She had rehabilitation and her recovery is almost fully normal except she suffers from numbness or loss of sensation in her thighs and legs. She was diagnosed with FND I don’t know what to think or believe at this point.

      I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's struggle, and FND diagnosis can be confusing for many people. I hope you can check out my other videos explaining possible relationships between an injury like concussions and FND and find a specialist who can work with you💕

    The biggest thing for me was quitting dance because my studio was incredibly toxic. Other than that I would advise people to not do physical therapy until you’re mostly recovered since they can’t do much if you can’t move

    I was diagnosed with PNES 3 years ago and mine are caused by complex PTSD and severe trauma. I had an abusive childhood an traumatic experiences like physical abuse, rape and molestation by 10 abusers) I suppressed the memories then got them back through nightmares/night terrors in my highschool years, still never had any major injuries or seizures up till this point in my life but a experience at 19 confronting the rapist who traumatized/affected me most caused a massive trigger and my seizures started. Therapy and weed are the only treatments that work for me and when in the first year they were every other day between 5-10 a day but now 3 years later they are only 1-3 times a day and I get them only once up to 3 times a week and sometimes have long periods of a week or week and a half seizure free now.💜SeizureWarrior💜 i just turned 23yrs old in April.

    I was just diagnosed with fnd but ive been diagnosed with tourettes aswell. Are those connected? Could my tourettes diagnosis be incorrect?

    • @TeenFND
      @TeenFND ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your question, and many people ask this question actually! I’m making a video about the difference between tourettes and functional tourettes (FND) so stay tuned by subscribing to my channel! They look very similar on the surface, but tourettes and fnd have very different points, which can be confusing to many doctors!
