  • The toggle switch broke on my Jabsco Electric Toilet. It took me a while to source the part and it wasn't cheap. Right around $100 with shipping, so be very gentle with your switches. It was super easy to re-connect the wires...almost too simple. I hope I did it right.

No need to cut the wires. The terminals on the end of each wire, slide on and off a flat lug. You can just pull the wire off, swap out the switch, and then put the wires back on - making sure that the wire colors are in the correct order. Be sure to snap several pics of the back of the switch before you pull the wires off. If needed, label each wire with a piece of tape, to make sure you get it back in the right place.

I would have just swap out the spade connectors. 😁

These "new" switches are horribly unreliable. After going "round and 'round with Jabsco, they finally admitted that it's a faulty design and that they have a new design in the works. I ran the parts for this by my brother (who is an EE), and he said they were not designed for this duty cycle. So, here are my tips for this problem: 1) The contacts do get a buildup of carbon on them, effectively insulating them and making them fail. This carbon can be cleaned up, and then the switches can be reassembled. However, this is a temporary measure, as the coating that the manufacturer puts on the contacts to keep carbon at bay, has been worn off. 2) These are Carling switches, and the numbers are on the sides of the switches. I found one for less than $10, and the other for around $20. That's a fraction of Jabsco's prices. 3) Wire a relay for the macerator wires. This puts the substantial load that the mascerator motor puts on the circuit, to the relay, rather than these flimsy switches. It's easy.

My macerator suddenly doesn't do anything when I press the flush button. No sound at all from the motor and the breakers are all ok. Could it be a faulty switch, or more likely a faulty motor?
