I enjoyed this video except the demo of the old bathroom was going well for me but when the floor was gone, well it scared me to death. Wow!! I will be so thrilled for you when a new floor is installed. I do hope that will happen soon! You do have some apples. Love all of your animals.....precious. You are a fun lady. Thanks!!!
Seeing through the floor and balancing on the beams is scary for sure. As someone afraid of heights I could never walk on them.
A little trick when picking anything from a tree. After picking up from the ground lay tarps or sheets. Take a poll to shake the limbs or my dad would take the chain off of his chainsaw and put it up to different sections of the tree the vibrate the food off. We had pecan trees that we had a device that wrapped around the trunk of the tree and the vibration would make them come down. We only had one and 10 acres of pecan trees so there were lots of all 3 methods used.

Take care of your back Lincoln. Glad you have someone coming to help with the bathroom. Waffle was too cute. I had no wine to drink so I had coffee. Try and video some of the cider making. We had one in my hometown in Connecticut. The best cider ever. It is still there. I miss NE this time of year. Stay safe and hugs to your animals.

I need to count my blessings. Rot in the structural timbers was one thing I didn't have to face on my own renovation.

Your home is livable (the other parts) so he might as well take the time. No fun having only one bathroom for now though.

You should work like I've been doing in picking up my pinecones. I've been using a folding chair, sitting on it in order to pick them up off the ground. Also using a lawn rake to pull them to me with the bag sitting next to me to put them in.
What a wonderful way to make cleanup easy. Plastic sheeting! You guys are wonderful.

I am so glad that Lincoln is getting help to do the bathroom. That is a very big job. The apple cider would be very interesting. Waffle is very cute. Half brownface and half a white face.

Lincoln is a gem. He tackles very difficult jobs, hurts his back and still smiles. Thank goodness the deteriorated beams were discovered before renovating a beautiful bathroom and have the weight of the tub fall through the ceiling. Yikes! I’m glad he has someone helping. The cats, dogs, donkeys are so cute and seem very, very happy. Enjoy apple cider making. Maybe your kids and their friends can pick the apples off the ground. Better than you hurting your back too. xx

When I was a kid my father would take me & my siblings to a local orchard to pick apples. Then we’d head into their barn, which smelled SO good, to buy fresh cider. I really miss the cider. I’d love to taste your cider.
I’m sure it will be lovely when finished, but Lincoln walking on those beams is causing me great anxiety!
That enormous bag looks big enough to hold about 100+ buckets.......have fun! Cider is very good thirst quenching drink.
Waffle is adorable and clearly wants to be a TH-cam star. 😄 when you said 60 more buckets, I had 2 thoughts: 700 more buckets LOL and how on earth will you get that giant bag of apples moved? Ok. How come Lincoln is so cool calm and collected when I saw the bathroom /floor I nearly had a nervous break down. Then yea both walked on beems with no safty net. The dogs and cats and donkeys calmed me down. See you all next week.

🤩 Really love your channel! You’ve got the most beautiful, sort of manageable chateau with the best outbuildings and a excellent walled garden (my dream, together with the orchard). The calmness, down to earth and neat approach of renovating is so nice to watch!
If you ever get bored, or you will replace some of the fruit trees, it’s perhaps nice to sow a wild flower mixture at the grassland of your orchard and plant some self spreading bulbs. It provides a wonderful habitat for insects (beneficial for fruit production), looks magical and will be mowed before fruit picking season. The donkeys will appreciate the herby and flowery hay it makes!

I have to admit that Lincoln is great at demolition, but he is also good at cleaning up. Not sure if the time lapse filming always shows how long the process was.... No wonder there's so many outside loos in France's out buildings. They're needed during renovation.
He is good at cleaning up! (not the kitchen 😂) I think it took him two hours...

Please do not use hangars! Just modify the socket with a dovetail and enter the beam from above.
I live in Brittany and did this in my house. The joinery is simple.
Once you start such a project and start to take the outer layers away of such an old place all kind of nasty things seems to appaer! Very frightening indeed!Good luck in putting it back together again!
Wow...that bathroom looks like a nightmare but I am sure it will be lovely. Where does Lincoln get all his energy? I need a Lincoln in my life. Renovation in LA is insanely expensive. All the best!!

Lincoln is doing a great job on the bathroom floor, it seems to me most of the damage to these beautiful chateaus is caused by water & of course in France wood worms. Love all those beautiful apples, you can freeze or can the apples to use throughout the year in pies, cobblers & of course jams or jellys. God Bless, Kathy 🇺🇸

We have a similar rotten bathroom floor and I have given up (in my husband's words nagging) reminding him that one evening, not too long in the distant future, while having a nice relaxing bath one of us will end up in the hall. His response is 'It won't be me as I have showers'

I love your chateau, although you have so much work to do it will be beautiful in the end. I bet you are relieved to have opened up the floor yourselves, a wise move in this case, a sound floor in your bathroom will now last a lifetime. Yoga is great for back pain, worth doing. This may be difficult to explain, but hear in the UK we have joist extensions made of galvanised steel that bolt onto the ends of rotted joists. You cut the rot off the bolt on the new metal extension.... You could do the same thing with say 1cm thick steel plate. Treat the rot and coach bolt/ lag bolt or use threaded metal bar to secure the plate steel. You can buy side drive drills that will easily fit between the joists... Just a thought, keep up the good work!!!!

Like with any renovation, once you start you uncover all kinds of damage but you will have an amazing bathroom at the end, one that will last another 100 years! So. I had to rewind this video several times to, firstly, get a bottle of white wine and a glass, and secondly, to ensure I did not miss a Waffle shot. Instead of Where’s Wally? (or Waldo in some countries), it became Where’s Waffle? If I have a hangover tomorrow I’ll know who to blame 😏( I would blame the wine for the punctuation, but I think that is just old age)
