LOL. I wish I had that in 1971 on my first beach dive getting cert'd at Shaw's Cove in Winter! 49°F/9.5°C !! Yes, in California! Even the instructor thought it was nutz! I pretended I wasn't cold & told them I'm from Canada this is like Summer temperature for me! LOL❄️ 🥶❄️

Glad you liked it. There are good heated scuba gear available but check reviews (TH-cam and other sources) before buying. Enjoy.

Hi Alec, You have mentioned before I think in the vintage scuba vids, that there is nothing new in scuba diving. But keep your eyes open and you found something. Really neat Idea ,how long would the batteries last for?
    take care Owen m

I know Owen but having electric heat in a recreational setting is great. Back in my commercial diving days (e.g. hard hat), specialty divers had hot water piped into their suits. This is a great idea for anyone wanting a warmer dive without lots of neoprene or dry suits. Take care my friend.

I have a vest from their former competitor (went out of business when the owner passed). When diving wet they take the edge off the cold particular on longer dives, but you never really get warm. When using it with a drysuit, night and day. You can actually overheat with it.
If I were buying again, I would skip the heated vest and go straight to a drysuit. But now as an owner of a drysuit, I think I would give a hesitant thumbs up. You need to be cautious with the heat, but it does help a lot.

Good points as this is an option for those wanting a little more warmth without a thicker wetsuit.

I will on my next trip. This was a long overdue trip so may be a few years before we go east again. At least I now have my own mic for much better sound on the road.

its nice to see that you did your hair and make up , to look your Hollywood best for this video .. but since you took up all of the mirror time Katylin didn't get a chance to brush her hair !

Pretty much true! Doing road trip videos without my full 'crew', aka Kevin, is hard.

The audio is messed up...you may want to re-mix it.
It never gets much below 28° here in Phuket so don't think I'll be needing one of those heated vests.

That's people chatting in the background, and probably Kevin's best effort to dampen that a bit. Sounds a bit like talking to someone on a hands-free phone in a crowd.

That is the best Kevin could do from an iPhone video. When I got home a heard how poor the sound was, I bought my own wireless mic. I won't need Kevin's expensive audio gear to make road trip videos. Sorry for the audio but the vest is super cool or hot!

2.09 On my life vest, I call that my "Stripper Strap". When I fall overboard, I go down, the vest wants to go up and it reminds me why I am not a stripper (I'm male). 🤪

Just use hand warmers with nitrox, it'll be REAL warm!

In 1972 the only time your wet suit was heated was if you peed in it. Mike Nelson never mentioned that on his show.

    • @AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter
      @AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

True wet suit divers never speak of the warmth from within! HA

@@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter Sorry Alec, I'm old enough to know better. Mike Nelson " Remember, never dive alone". He almost always dove alone. So did I. Cut my teeth on a U.S. Divers double hose. Loyd Bridges was a childhood hero. When he did the "Airplane" movie, I never laughed so hard in my life. It was just so hard to imagine him being that funny.
