    I've noticed that lubricating the trigger assembly also helps. A drop in the middle of each side of the trigger where it goes into the internal trigger rails is all you need.
    Makes the 1911's already smooth trigger pull even smoother.

    I've owned about 8-9 1911s in my life. I first learned it while in army officers training back in 1980. It ha stayed with me and I've owned everything from a POS AMT Hardballer to Colt to Sig to Springfield TRP. I've been blessed to be able to have 2 Les Baer 1911 and an Ed Brown Special Forces 1911. I have nothing against Glock or plastic guns, but nothing feels like a 1911. A 1911 is usually at my bedside doing night stand duty and I don't feel undergunned. A 1911 was by my side during the Rodney King Riots in LA in 1992. When something goes bump in the night, nothing beats a 1911 in the hand.

      Not sure if lazy is the right word. More like unwilling to waste time on needless tasks that have zero benefit to anyone or anything. More like staring at the sky and pondering lifes mysteries will yield an unquantifiably greater benefit to me then scrubbing a piece of metal that had no need to be scrubbed. Sounds you like you have the time to waste though so if beating your head up against a rock or needlessly cleaning a tool to spitshine gets your jolly on, you go ahead pal.

    Larry, please learn the difference between Tension and Compression. I know of no part on the 1911 or any gun for that matter that functions under Tension.
    ~Tension pulls and Compression pushes/squeeze (springs) or grabs (extractor).
    ~Why do Experienced Gun People use the word Tension incorrectly?

  • @gunsodin5299
    @gunsodin5299 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Everyone listen, if you are hurting on the price of a Springer colt kimber etc dont but cheap. I asked Larry several times and he answered. But i still went cheap. I bought a rock island tac ultra 2 which was nice but had a major flaw. I got it brand new and fired 250 rounds thru it. Federal, b&s and sig. Only 8 rounds of sig v crown to see if it fed. The gun was always cleaned and lubed, only field stripped. Never banged up etc. The hammer dropped the half cock 70% of the time it was racked. I had experience with there old 9mm 1911. It was my brothers and never had that problem. When my brother was on leave I showed hin the gun and he loaded it (we both know each others guns are always loaded) he racked the slide and it fired an inch past his leg. Only thing i swapped out of the gun was a wilson combat guide rod and plunger tube. It did it without that too. I sent it back they gave me a new one not a single round thru it and it did it again. So now I'm looking at a series 80 colt. I found. A used comp model for 750 looks brand new the brand new gi one was 850. Some will say its the gun slam firing but when the mags in and it has to strip the first round off that force is drowned out so thats not it. Also my case was bent idk how because nothing hit it.

    • @alanmeyers3957
      @alanmeyers3957 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wtf, that pistol has a safety notch on the hammer, it sounds like he had his finger in the trigger guard when he racked it.

On a serious note thank god for all the troops and all our hometown local heroes police ambulance and fire services as well as 911 operators every day we take them for granted and dont even comprehend what society would be like without these people standing between you and all the chaos that would ensue if they were gone suddenly

    Just picked up my second 1911, gave my wife the Kimber TLE 2 I owned and operated with for years, had seen combat using the 1911 in my third tour in AFghanistan (After I was given loadout options and moved to operations). Anyway, the SIG Scorpion 1911 (got it with custom grips, a nicer trigger than the already nice triggers that come with, spare parts, but the trigger, the overall feel of it, the unique SIG look (just higher bore-axis but it's no issue)....the FINISH they put on their 1911s, compared to kimber or some colts and Springfield I used...so much better.
    IMO the 1911 .45 ACP is still one of the best firearms ever. I plan on having my SIG 1911 until the day I die, outside of my HK P7, HK P30, USP and P2000 (which served me so well earlier in life), and a SIG P229, P225 W German Police trade in and P220 equinox.....So, really just marvels of engineering and hihg-end pieces...but almost all of them I'd give up to keep my 1911....objectively the USP and HK P7 are better, better engineered, more durable, etc. Still would be hard-pressed to take them over the 1911 :)
    Canot rcommend the Scorpion highly enough.

    If the American soldier ran up on the Germans from behind he would have had to shoot them from “near to far” so the soldiers in the front wouldn’t see their comrades falling down behind them one by one, which is what ken hackathorn said happened at first when he explain the story but then he made Larry vickers shoot the soldiers from front to back, or far to near.

Upon becoming a deputy Sheriff I enjoyed the upgrade to the S&W 4" 681, and in 1993 the Glock 22. We now have the Glock 45. The 1911 is best left at the range for old timers day, and nowhere near any duty or concealed carry holsters.

    Love the 1911, its my favorite handgun. However I heard a fair bit of making reasons to have it as a fighting gun. Regardless if its proven and been around 100 years, if another gun fits the role better like a glock, smith, hk, or whatever than I want that better gun. As far as a fighting gun these days id say the 1911 is subpar.

      +Chrs Dalton in essence they agree exactly with Yeager 1911's suck video. They clearly state that it is "an experts" gun that needs to be trained with and meticulously maintained in order to run properly. Furthermore they are using Wilson Combat guns...as good as it gets when it comes to 1911's...the vast majority of people can't afford this quality and will end up with an even more unreliable gun...

      watch again then....this is what all "experts" have always said about the 1911 platform..nothing new here. just consider his "check list" to make sure your weapon is fully ready to go...the point is it takes alot and desire to put your life on the line confidently with a 1911.

      +shimy333 I've had the same 1911 for years and it's my most used pistol. It needs a recoil spring and firing pin spring every few thou, and mag springs every few years. Big deal. That's not a lot of effort.
