    i've listened to watts on you tube for years now & i've never heard or seen a better put together collection of his work. i've studied buddism (academical, i mean) for some time and have never heard a better synthesis of what its all about than this video.
    thank you for the experience.

    What a beautiful video and teaching. Thank you for posting it. I only wish that more people could see Buddhism in this way. I'm afraid that there are far too many who don't understand it and prefer to propagate stereotypes and misconceptions.
    Namaste, and again, thank you.

    There is only one place where you are gonna find what your looking for. Inside yourself. Take what you like from external stimuli, in the end it is you who must experience truth. It cannot be experienced for you. It cannot be told to you. Even if it is, you will not truly understand, until you experience it. Knowing the path, and living it are two very different things. Good luck to you. You are already taking steps in the right direction. Peace and love

    Buhdism is hard to learn but the more you concentrate to learn and practice it is spiritual and will improve your mind become wisdom and intelligent. If you say or act with buhda teach it likes you learn mathematics like 1+1=2 it will a good outcome like you choose a diamond not a rock. Thanks for this Video and I hope there more Video about Buhdism.

    This is fantastic exposition...the music made it very accessible!
    However, it should be considered that this is only one perspective on the truth. There are multiple perspectives in Buddhism that don't all agree with the stuff that Watts says after he explains the division of beliefs.
    The word 'drama' in English comes from the Old Norse "draumur" which means "dream". Those who are in drama are dreaming and not awake, even in English.
    All Buddhist teachings are doorways to experience.

    Buddha never claimed he is the god or massager of god. A person from Wealthy ruling family walked out from his palace with a begging bowl for next meal and looking for the answers for human suffering and purpose of life there after. His answers and realization is well suited in today’s scientific world. Buddha was open for any debate. You will be treated equally even you don’t follow him. Better you guys watch more videos about Buddhism and other religions

    • @stevenbateman9597
      @stevenbateman9597 ปีที่แล้ว

      He also left his wife and child though they would have been well looked after in the palace.
      What sort of example is that, still happens now men that want to be monks leave there wife's family's and responsibilities behind just like he did.
      Some role model.
      He called it non attachment.
      I call it selfish you can guess I am not a fan of buhdisism

    You're not alone in that. I had a difficult time with watching the video myself with both things going on at the same time. If the music were much lower than alan's volume in speaking it would be fine, but at the same volume, it's hard to concentrate on what Alan is saying and really take it in.

    Brilliant video, great art and music choice. Music added to it! I'd like to know where you found the picture @ 0:34. Would love to buy/print that art, as a reminder that we Are the cosmos. That the galaxy through it's impermanence is the source of our body and thus life. A great metaphore!

    Thanks for this Video, to let people know more about Buhdism because Buhdism is the best religion to bring people peaceful and happiness because long time ago not many western people know. I wish western people step a another knowledge and won't never lose because Buhdism brings human wisdoms. Because God is just human imagination likes you sleep and dreams but when wake up the dreams is not real. So God is not real and no proof.

    Alan Watts perspective on Buddhism - that it is about experience and that all concepts are false - reminds me of a certain quote: "The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao.". It is interesting how universal some ideas are.

    • @HBC423
      @HBC423 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    There are lots of perspectives on the one thing that everything points to. If we change the angle we look at, we have a greater idea of the truth, but there are more perspectives than there are seconds in a lifetime. You should not hold too tightly to this exploration or you miss the point of having a perspective.
    Perspectives should necessarily be personal. You should gain your own through experiences, rather than listening to what others say.
    Learn the rules, then throw them away and live.

    Wow, how much do i chase after my identity, how i chase after attachment, how i chase after connection with the universe, my connection to other people. But I am, I am connected, I am simply, one with it all. Damn this superficial world for its projection of delusion in separateness, the most destructive separateness being separated from self, being separated from the divine energy that binds and animates everything in the universe. Lacking is an illusion, my deprivation is caused by delusion

    Reincarnation is more metaphorical in Buddhism and literal in Hinduism. They believe in one conscious that shapes and inhabits form. So technically were all incarnations of this consciousness. Reincarnation to me is a way of describing the conservation of mass in spiritual terms

    If humans can experience hell here in this world...war,killings,terrorism,rape,torture,horrible pain during "natural catastrophies"...then I dont see why you find it difficult to see the truth in a God who "puts" you in hell. He doesnt put them.....they earn it....much the same like cause and effect.

    Not all Buddhists believe in reincarnation (i assume you mean of the physical body) as Alan just said the Zen people are divided on the issue, i personally don't believe that i (my body) can be reincarnated after my death.

      Not the body, but the spirit is reincarnated. We keep coming back, if we choose until we have learned the lessons we need to learn to reach as pure as we can become in spirit. Godlike..
