- Monte Carlo, may not have been one of the best weapons back in Destiny, but it definitely was one of the best looking weapons. Monte Carlo has returned to Destiny 2, and today we review it for PVP & PVE.

Monte Carlo Catalyst: Bayonet finisher.
Would be great🔥
Instant kill on anyone with a shotgun in hands that you proc the finisher on, and bam, it’s viability as an exotic is completely there now
I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I'm thinking it'd be cool if the catalyst replaces your charged melee ability with an instant kill bayonet lunge, but when it's not charged it does a bayonet slash that deals one third the damage. That way the weapon would take three melees to take out a guardian uncharged, and when charged it takes one lunge I'd say about three? Maybe five feet?(idk) where your character would rapidly close the gap and kill your opponent. Not sure if this is a fun idea or not to others. I just personally think it sounds fun on paper, but hey I'm open to debate and brainstorm with fellow guardians. :)
Edit: or make it work like the forerunner where you get a kill, hold the reload button(R, □, X, or whatever your reload is on your platform), and it replaces your melee with a bayonet lunge. Like so: Kill, hold the reload button, get bayonet lunge.

Monte + Sealed Ahamkara Grasps = Grasping Bullets
Getting a kill with monte recharges the theowing knife, then hitting someone with said throwing knife reloads your weapon, easy and fun chain to run together
Melee kills with Monty already reloads your weapon, though...

@@slowburn21814 with sealed grasps you don't need the kill to reload, as well as just use your power or special and then once you've run out of melee get another Monte kill
Robot Boy while that may be true using something like assassin’s cowl or ophidia spathe would be better. You’ve already got reload on melee kills and if you get into melee range and don’t finish them with a melee then I don’t think monte carlo is your jam. Having double knives is a lot more useful than reloading on melee without killing them.
Monte Carlo might be one of the most sexiest guns I've ever seen. Anyone remember those two awesome ornaments back in d1?

@@seza9240 you have to make a new character or wait for the mission to be the heroic (I'm not entirely sure if its gonna be available in it though) but if you just want khovstov you can pull it from collections

For context: sunbracers are an infinite warlock grenade exotic based on a solar melee kill. Which means if you use top tree dawnblade you can get your ability back crazy fast,
This is what i'm running this season and it's fun as hell.
Fun Fact: They changed Actium War Rig to autoload autorifles and heavy machine guns and no one seems to be mentioning it.

Can't wait to have my Monte back! It was my very first vanilla D1 exotic.. Got it from ol' Phogoth back in the day and used it a ton... And this version looks even better.

Finally! Someone appreciates Doomfang Pauldrons! Like a quarter of your super with one shoulder charge kill is amazing! And this is exactly the weapon I want with my armor build.
Great video once again, think I'm going to be manning this weapons after the changes that came to the sandbox, only thing that could have made this video perfect is if you mentioned there's no quest for it and it is a random drop, had to google that.

@@rosifico Short answer is that it's the same animation with Liar's. To make it work with MC, they would need an entirely new set of melee animations specific to MC for each class in order to make use of the bayonet.
I'd rather we see it as a finisher tbh. Exotic specific finishers would be an awesome addition. Maybe even have them tied to the exotic perk in some way. For MC, perhaps using a bayonet finisher could give you a temporary second melee charge.

Monte Carlo was not only my first exotic in D1 but it was one of my fav's with my nightstalker. Love the synergy!
Got it in my first kill of the DLC! I was shocked and extremely happy. Been running it with way of a thousand cuts amazing synergy. Knives for days. If you get a melee kill with it equipped it fills the mag it also gives Markov x5 in PvE with 1 melee kill. Not sure about PC but has some hefty screen shake on console.

I finally got this as very last weapon exotic from Fated engrams and I love it. Always been a Warlock main and this plus top tree Dawnblade(new ranged melee) + Sunbracers is my fav build to run with. I have so much fun with the grenade spam lol.
This is gonna be huge on mid tree gunslingers with way of a thousand reloads...

Got Monte from a Shaxx weekly. Absolutely fun weapon, tempted to pair it up with Recluse or Mindbender's and just go all in on that close range life.
I can see how he got it as a world drop, I’ve been (fortunately) getting exotics more in shadowkeep than I did in forsaken.
When I picked up shadowkeep last Friday as a birthday gift I got 3 exotics, one being from Xur and the other two from open world. Last night I got another exotic on the moon.
So I feel that exotics are definitely more rewarding and present to get now than in forsaken.

Definitely having fun with this gun and the Knock Knock Thunder build
Pairing this weapon with middle tree Striker is the most fun I've had in this game. It's really fun in the new public event in Sorrow's Harbor on the moon, you have unlimited melee energy flying around like superman.
I've recommended the build name before and I don't want to wear out my welcome. But. FULL MONTE.
First let's go love the content man
Fun pve warlock build (stay with me) chaos reach, Monte Carlo, and claws of ahamkara. Since I noticed the melee return on kills can proc regardless of whether you have melee or not. I decided to see how much of an uptime I can get on lightning ball. Turned out great and if you position yourself right you can one hit red bars thus Procing the full stack and ammo back. Lightning ball even does decent damage to majors. I’m using this with a demolitionist wizened rebuke and impact induction to get grenade back real fast. Very fun and fluent build
I’m loving it in PvE it was my day one first exotic (saved old exotics without a drop table and got this baby), still have to try it in PvP.

Monte Carlo keeps your ball lightning up, while ball lightning kills give you Markov Chain x5 and regen health.
@@cjxj2202 I was thinking the same, but with bottom tree void. You would become a demi-god after a melee kill.
You might even be able to go ham and just melee only after your first kill.
Monte Carlo and sun breakers is fun. Spam those grenades.
Im revisiting this video just to say I love Monte Carlo. Ive been running Monte Carlo, Recluse(shield piercing mod), Edgewise, and Devour Warlock. Melee and Grenades like crazy, constant dps, and quick supers. I haven’t tried any exotic armor pieces with the build but I mean it really doesn’t need one. Ill check out some Exotic armors later to see what could be best paired with my current build.
While it may not have been the best of weapons, I loved rocking it in D1 with the nightstalker tree (I know, I know, hunter bad) with the invisibility smokebomb. People were super reliant on their radar, so it was super easy to set up ambushes whilst invisible then gun them down and get the melee charge back.
Graviton Forfeit is going to be the biggest meme with this build, now.

Now I don't know how good this build will be seeing as I haven't got MC myself YET! But on paper it sounds pretty nasty for both PvE and PvP. Gotta wait and find out 😏

Increased Solar Grenade duration. Solar melee kills grant unlimited Solar Grenade energy for a brief time.
Monte Carlo Method
Dealing damage with this weapon reduces your melee cooldown and grants a chance to fully charge your melee ability with each kill.
Markov Chain
This weapon gains increased damage from melee kills and kills with this weapon. Melee kills grant ammo.
This is a great sounding build. I'll try it out see how it goes

Sprint all the time, constantly melee everything in lightening chains, auto-rifle everything huckleberry-style (melee puts ammo back to full), and gain an overshield _constantly_ from the protector melee ability (which the monte regenerates). Occasionally cast ward of dawn when things get out of control.
Just keep going and going and going. Lmao, so fun.

Monte Carlo, Shotgun, MK 44 Stand Asides, Bottom Tree Sentinel
The idea of the build is so that you always get off your melee or straight line your enemy then slide shotgun them to close distances due to the overshield granted by the Stand Asides. When you get a kill with your shoulder charge you get half your melee energy back so after a few Monte Carlo bullets or kill, you are back at full. The Mk 44's also make it easier to shoulder charge approaching supers as their light attacks won't kill you.

If it was an energy the warlock helmet with 4th magic (energy weapon kills grant increased Grenade energy regen stacks up to 3x) would be nasty.

if im correct then in the taken king update monte carlo method had a chance to refresh your melee cooldown completely. i cant however remember if it was a hidden passive or if it was in the perk description. besides that, great vid man i love your content :D

I was lucky enough to have this baby drop from Zavala, of all people, on day 1.
It's not something i've concretely tested, but I'm pretty sure the chance to get a full melee charge back on kills goes up as you stack the Markov Chain.
As a secondary I usually rock a one-two punch shotty with it.
Monte Carlo was one of my favorite exotics in D1. So glad it came back in D2. Got mine from a crucible drop
Got the cerberus catalyst day 1. By far the most interesting exotic catalyst so far. Havent tried it in crucible yet, but it definantly made a big difference in PVE
On the final days of last season I got an exotic drop and kept it in the mail for a chance at a new exotic this season. When I opened it, Monte Carlo baby! So glad I saved that engram.
Got it today and was very impressed. I dont do PvP but damn it made even me look good.
I got my Monte from an exotic engram i had sitting in the postmaster for 2 weeks before the dlc drop just in case. 1st 30sec of dlc drop, logged in went to the tower and got Monte. It is totally alot of fun.
I got mine from a saved exotic engram from last season. Fun little gun, that's for sure. Coincidentally, also my first exotic in D1.

I got the Monty Python from the Season 8 exptic engram reward. The first one. And from what I hear, those are Fated Engrams like you buy from Xur so you have a very much reduced chance to get repeats.
Monte Carlo Ophidia Spathe is the loadout I’ve been craving since middle tree gunslinger released, and it does not disappoint.
Cross, I gotta PvP build idea for ya:
*Peacekeeper's Vow*
Eriana's vow + *insert kinetic SMG (w/ killclip??) + peacekeepers + middle tree striker (inertia overide)
The idea is use Vow to weaken enemy, switch to SMG instantly for cleanup (maybe reload after for kill clip). On top of that, Vow paired with inertia override, you'll be (hopefully) one-tapping guardians at absurd range.
I got also as a world drop I love it my fav D1 weapon looks 🔥🔥🔥
PvE Devour melee build for my warlocks out there: Monte Carlo + Winters Guile and bottom tree Void.
Melee kills trigger Devour to restore your health as well as generate ammo for your gun.
Chaining melee kills boosts melee damage thanks to Winters Guile and it's also charging Markov's Chain on Monte Carlo so when you swap to firing you already have damage multiplier stacked, then kills with Monte Carlo regen your melee and you're ready to keep devouring and regenerating your health while keeping that damage up.
Caleb Matafeo I thought of this too! running this right now and it's literally the best thing ever. Super fun to play aswell. Adding oppressive darkness makes it even more OP :)

Claws of Ahamkara on middle-tree stormcaller with Hands-on. The double ball-lightning gives you a great AOE effect that you can throw over small cover and any kill will send you to x5 with Monte giving you a great synergy with the weapon.
Im about to whip out my og D1 combo, monte and peregrine. Gonna be blasting bosses with nonstop 5x damage knees
The exotic perk is unchanged from D1. This was my favorite pve weapon. Paired with sealed ahamkara grasp for two smoke grenades, it made me feel like a certain celebrity... smoke grenade for EVERY enemy! Plus the grasps had a great chance to reload weapon on melee hit.
I got my Monte on day 2 of shadowkeep and it was from Zavala bounty rewards. As in the "do 8 bounties for a powerful drop" sorta thing.

I had 1 exotic engram in my postmaster, cashed it after shadowkeep dropped and got the monte carlo! Super ecstatic
Build idea popping into my head is bottom tree Nightstalker, Graviton Forfeit, with the Monte Carlo for nonstop invisibility. Also I'm curious to see what your thoughts on the Ceberus+1 catalyst perk are, I got it and completed it today and it seems pretty decent in pve.
I used to use this gun in D1 with blink strike on the hunter. That crap was nasty in pvp. I plan on doing it again with liars handshake to give me that D1 feel.

Gonna be soooo good for top tree sentinel with doomfangs, can get your overshield constantly and get super energy
Monte was my favorite primary in D1. It seems like it does relatively well in D2.

Build Suggestion:
Monte + Top Tree Stormcaller + Winters Guile. Top tree melee does chain lightning the damage is multiplied by WG and kills reload and buff Monte, which can reset your melee.
