- Bendy is the central antagonist of Bendy and the Ink Machine but it has never been made clear what his motivations are for chasing Henry, Boris, Sammy, Alice and other residents of Joey Drew Studios. It is possible that Bendy is Joey Drew and it is also possible that Bendy is cartoon Bendy brought to life through the power of the ink machine. In this new BATIM theory we look at both these scenarios and ask the question - what does Bendy want?

There is one problem with the Bendy is Joey Drew theory. If joey is just chillin in the ink machine while Henry arrives, why does Alice Angel say that "There is one rule we all respect down here. Beware the Ink Demon". Sounds like Bendy has been walking around the studio for a long time already.
Well, what you just said basically debunks itself. We don't have any evidence that bendy was created when Henry activated the ink machine, however we do know bendy can walk through ink-covered walls like portals. Perhaps he was just trying to show up on the top floor and needed an ink portal to do so. Bendy clearly HAS been around for awhile now, so if Joey really is bendy, his transmutation would've happened ages ago.
Think about it this way. Remember at the end of chapter one how Henry collapsed on the ground unconscious? Maybe he was out for months, there isnt really a time period explaining how long he was out. What if during his time of unconsciousness, the rule was established of avoiding the newly created ink demon?

But if the latter of the theories are true, wouldn’t it make more sense for Bendy to go after Joey and leave Henry alone? Let’s not forget that it was Joey that took the credit for the Cartoon and characters after Henry left. Yeah, Henry might have been the original creator of Bendy, but it was Joey that took over the cartoons lives and the plot. Henry had nothing to do with what happened to them afterwards.
I could however see Bendy going after Henry out of revenge for abandoning them to Joey. This would explain what Alice meant by “I know who you are and I know why you’re here. You will not stop what needs to be done.” Maybe Alice a.k.a Susie is mad at Henry because without him, the angels Fate was to be in Joeys hands. And as we can see from chapter three both Alice and Susie didn’t go quite as far in show business as they thought. And they take it out on Henry because he didn’t stay long enough to help get them on their career.
What if bendy didn't want to go deep sea lore diving so he settled on Henry
Crungy well, Bendy could be trying to find Joey still. If Joey is in the studio, he must be buried deep inside it. And he probably thinks following Henry will lead Bendy to Joey.

I can see what you're saying but think of it this way. If Henry hadn't created Bendy in the first place he never would have appeared in the cartoons and also it seems Henry gave up the idea to Joey who then changed Bendy into something else. This abandonment would also factor into Bendys rage against Henry. Good points though!

I believe that in my theory that it is in fact cartoon Bendy ( I THINK & I HOPE!!!!) but this is all up to the Meatly's idea for his own game so who knows maybe it might not be Joey Drew (I HOPE NOT) :(

PLEASE READ: There is actually more evidence to cartoon bendy being ink bendy because the newest cartoon was a christmas episode at the end bendy can be seen being bullied by boris again and even crying in the end. That gives cartoon bendy another reason to be fed up with the creators.

Well, Bendy was said to have been born "without a soul", and Joey Drew was still there when Bendy emerged from the Ink Machine, so how could Bendy be Joey? And Joey is still at the house talking to his niece at the end of the game. It is never stated that he split his soul because Bendy is wholly without one. So I do not think Bendy is Joey Drew.
My theory for today is: Is the Boris we meet at the end of Chapter 2 of Bendy and the Ink Machine and the one that keeps us company in Chapter 3 a survived clone? Let's take a look at the evidence: ALL of the dead Boris clones in Chapters 1 and 3 have an OPEN CHEST,with the ribs aside, causing any ink pouring inside to not stay inside as seen in Chapter 1 after you turn on the Ink Machine and ink starts SQUIRTING OUT of the dead Boris clone on the table. Another point brought up in a TH-cam comment suggests that this Boris is a good and SMART hider and the others were dumb hiders and were spotted easily by "Alice" . It is possible that this Boris had gotten a head start. One point brought up is the fact that even IF we had REVIVED the Boris clone in Chapter 1, how would have he gotten those restraints off him and gotten to the point where we see him originally in Chapter 2? An possible answer to this question is the Lift as "Alice" tells Henry she will let him leave this place and the Lift in Chapter 3 does go up some. Chapter 5 will give us the answer to that one as Chapter 1 and all previous chapters before the one released get updated when that new chapter is out.

I'd like to present an alternative theory of sorts, which is sort of a combination of their two motivations: Joey Drew wanted immortality -- to live on through his work just like Walt Disney -- and confused the metaphorical immortality with the literal kind.
But the big problem with Joey Drew's plan was that, in his delusions of grandeur, he forgot that Bendy came to life with the help of an entire production studio. So while Joey Drew KINDA' has immortality, it's an incomplete existence, hence why the rest of the studio's former employees have also been recruited.
Second big problem: What few people were as emotionally invested as Joey Drew had their own personal delusions, most of which are not compatible with his own. Most of them became Lost Ones or ink monsters, and the most notable exceptions thus far have been Sammy Laurence (a head-up-the-ass "artist" who declared himself the prophet), Susie Campbell (who projected herself onto Alice Angel and reinvented it in her mind as a character of her own creation), and Bertrum Piedmont (another narcissist also pursuing "immortality" through his work).
Henry thus far appears to be the sole exception; a person who neither had delusions of grandeur nor just phoned it in and collected his paycheck at the end of the day. And as such, Joey Drew may believe he's got exactly the kind of "heart" they need in order to truly be immortal the way he imagined.

Bendy does have ink over his face, sometimes he can't see you unless you are in front of him. Bendy could be thinking Henry is working with Alice to kill Boris, I assume in Chapter 4 we will have a choice to work with Bendy in some sort of "War" and we might find out if Bendy is Joey.

I have another theory. I don't know if it's to Joey or Bendy itself but it fit both of them. I heard theory that Bendy before chasing Henry he say "let me in" in the end of chapter 2 after Henry run from Sammy. It's sound like Bendy or Joey want united with Henry. Literally. Maybe that's why Bendy or Joey sent letter to Henry but why are want united with Henry?
What if its both cortoon bendy AND joey drew possessing ink bendy, similar to how the voices of alice both possess alice. Using information explained in this theory, it only makes sense that they both posses ink bendy.

Coming back to this video with the theory that cartoon Bendy is the Ink Demon hits hard after finding out Cartoon Bendy IS the Ink Demon in BATDR.

Both of your theories sound well founded and accurate, they sound like either one could be in fact the case for Joey or Bendy in this game, but I personally think it's the first one.
I think Joey, on his deathbed, might've used the Ink Machine to merge himself with a clone of the cartoon Bendy (possibly the original Bendy) to re-animate himself as the Ink Demon so he could live on and see his dreams through to the end. Now I can see how it'd be possible if Bendy really resented humanity for laughing at his pain and suffering in the cartoons and would want to take revenge, but I like to think that the real Bendy isn't all that evil, that he's just like his cartoon, timid and easily frightened sure, but also a friendly, mischievous, happy-go-lucky character, who is actually very proud that his little escapades on the reel managed to brighten up everyone's day, which in turn brought a smile to his face (get it?). I also think that since Joey's dreams inspired the creation of the Ink Machine which brought Bendy to life, that the darlin' little devil sees Joey as his creator, or father or whatever, so maybe he agreed to merge with Joey because he didn't want him to die before he could fully realize his dreams, or Joey forced him into it.
As for why the Ink Demon is hunting down Henry, I think Bendy found out from Joey's memories after the merge that his drawings led to his creation and Bendy then learned of his TRUE creator and I think the Bendy-half of the Ink Demon might be trying to find a way to talk to Henry, to try and find out why he left in the first place and learn more about the true meaning of his existence, while the Joey-half, the one in control of Demon's actions, corrupted by the machine's tainted ink, still resents Henry for, maybe thinking he deserves the title of "Bendy's creator" when he was the one who truly, brought him to life, or maybe 30 years ago Henry got fired for calling out Joey on only being an 'ideas man', for being "all-take and no-give" in the company, and for making everyone else do all the real work, ending their partnership and their friendship, and now he's brought him back essentially saying "you think you're the only talented one? Well I'm the boss for a reason, Henry. Look at how this place improved in the 30 years you were gone. I did this. Me. ME! NOT YOU!!". So now I believe that by the end of Chapter 4, Bendy will set himself free, or we'll set him free, splitting the Ink Demon in half, leaving only Joey's re-animated, corrupted, inky corpse behind and Bendy will help Henry destroy the Ink Machine and defeat Joey in Chapter 5.
Wait, now this makes me wonder, when a character comes out of the Ink Machine, do they retain their memories from the cartoon, do they merge/co-exist with the memories of the human soul inhabiting the toon's body, or do they not remember anything and learn about themselves by watching the show that inspired their creation? I think I just opened up a new door there. Ooh! This could be your next theory!

Henry does not seem to me the wicked guy to run the machine with a rite. In fact, in the first chapter he says, "Okay Joey ... show me what you wanted to show me" maybe Henry did drive the machine safely when he was "good", I think something happened to that machine ... a lot of the songs on Bendy and the ink machine explain that he is not bad but the "betrayal" his creator made him so..ok is that Bendy is a bit megalomaniac (go to see xD comic dub) but is not bad: miserable, like to do jokes, but it behaves like any cartoon, in fact, xD. My theory or hypothesis is this: I agree with you that both have created Bendy, but those sketches where "no" or "do not show it to Joey" makes me think that Henry was finishing Bendy but Joey wanted him different. According to me, Joey saw when Henry, hypothetically, started the machine , that Bendy was not as he wanted ... that is, he was friendly, miserable (in a positive sense) and pondered, in my opinion Joey wanted him a little bad here. Henry feeling the stress from too much work, which is noticed in the recording that Linda does not see for a while, has momentarily paused and this Joey considered her abandonment or betrayal and would have kicked him out of her job and lied to their creations. In fact, we know a few things: Joey converted the machine to evil using ritual Bendy's pain and anger caused by him, making Bendy literally blinded by anger; Joey could not bear that Henry had created a friendly and good character despite the appearance and the fact that he only put the megalomaniac character on the cartoon, the smile I think Henry himself finally satisfied him but wanting to change the fact that it was not fixed (you would understand the sketch "not let it see to Joey" with Bendy's current smile); none of the audio casas speak negatively to Henry; Henry in my opinion did not know that Joey had trapped them there for 30 years; always in my opinion Joey reversed the process is made to return Bendy and co.nella ink machine modified by the ritual as if to say: nourish the anger and pain caused by Joey's lies beyond his crazy negative ambitions; Bendy is blinded, just like everyone else, with anger and sorrow .. I hope the game gives us a good ending both for him and Henry to live so well to the pain caused by Joey; Bendy is not bad but only blinded by the pain; it may be that Joey or Henry has been part of the artistic talent in Bendy; Bendy in the animated courtesies is immediately aware of her character: in fact, I strongly doubt Joey's liking, he likes to joke, is a bit scary, pessimistic, etc ... I think they are largely Henry's strokes in the end and the 90% his father; comic dubs do not look like we do but some things like in a possible positive end for Henry and Bendy alive; Bendy seems to feel love - I hate Alice; Boris at the moment is the only one who is not blinded by anger (perhaps because it is the clone of the original Boris?) ..nothing this is one of my many assumptions is reflections what do you think? .

Ok if Joey was on hus death bed when he wrote the letter. How was it sent. I found some promblems in the " Joey in Death bed and just got turned into Bendy when Herny turned on The Inl mechine"theory.
1. Why would Sammy still be there after he died.
2. Who would move a a dead body into a mechine having no idea what would happen.
3. Sammy praise him. And he look like he know what he was doing when the ritrul.
4. Alice Angel says that the only rule is to Fear the Ink demon. If someone who just got turn into a ink demon. How would everyone fear him if he was only like 3 days a ink creature.
5. If Joey just died. His workers should be long gone. They would have no job and leave.
6. If Sammy hated Joey drew like in his audio recordings. It would take time to make him worship Joey.

The only thing I find wrong about "Bendy" being cartoon Bendy is the fact that Henry's name doesn't appear on any of the cartoons...in fact only Joey's name appears. I wonder if this is more of Charles Mintz vs Walt Disney sort of situation between Joey and Henry over a popular creation.
I have a theory. In the "Tombstone picnic" at the end, the guy who shadowed bendy might be an imitation of Joey drew, and Joey was so obsessed with bendy, he wanted to be bendy. When he did, he over did it, making himself into the monster he is. Susie or the newer Alice angle voice actor may have been obsessed with alice, and same thing happened.

I can understand Bendy getting revenge on Henry because I would be pissed too if I was created as a timid frightened character for everyone's amusement, but if Joey is Bendy, I think it's much more than just revenge. But what is it? I don't know.

Here is the answer: Joey drew owned the studio and he liked his animations so much that he made the ink machine to make his creations come to life (like you said) and he decided to not turn it on, causing him to close down the studio and leave the old workshop abandoned and forgotten. There, at the studio he left his friends by accident except for henry and the ones that Joey left were Sammy, Susie/bad Alice, Alison/good Alice, Norman/The Progectionist, Flynn/The Butcher Gang, Wally/Boris, and more of his friends/workers(If there IS anymore of his friends) and that's when these two things happened: They all felt hate and suffer and wanted revenge and with their ink puddles/ink wells, they managed to write on the walls and that's when thay wrote "The Creater lied to us" aka Joey Drew for leaving them down there. And one day Joey came back and put HIMSELF inside the ink machine, KNOWING that Henry would come back to turn on the ink machine turning Joey and everyone inside turning into ink monsters/demons. That is my theory of what "The Creater lied to us" means

bendy/joey drew sent the letter to henry, as we see the letter with ink puddles and outlined in ink, bendy/joey drew created the ink machine for bringing his creations to life and then making his creations rise and him staying normal, he sent henry his letter so he can be a normal person, making henry struggle through what he has been through.
My theory might be true, and this might be what joey drew really wants, for us to struggle, he was chasing us so he can transform himself back to normal and then make us struggle, LIKE IF YOU AGREE!
I think Henry created Borris, which is why he does not attempt to hurt or attack him (like Alice, Bendy, Sammy Lawrence, The Butcher Gang, The Searchers and any possible future antagonists) he helps him instead
Bendy obviously wants revenge of what happened to him and he wants you to face the same pain he did
