Can anyone help me trace relatives from this area. My dad was a Cornish man, John Henry (Harry) Down born 1902, his grandfather or father - not sure which, was a sign writer. He had 2 children, John and June. I was the youngest and only child from his second marriage and now aged nearly 75 born in Norfolk. We visited Cornwall when I was 9 years old, the only time I have ever been. I remember my dad taking me out somewhere close to the sea and showing me a plaque in memory of his adopted brother who had drowned after going into the sea to try and save the life of a woman who had fallen/jumped? - wearing a fur coat. This is all I can remember - it would be so nice just to say hello to another family member on my dad’s side. I loved him very much and still miss him even though he died many years ago.
Its a proper village, but there is a lot of divide, I live here, grew up in Perran BUT if you don't fit the 'bullshit' status quo you aren't in 'the crowd'. Ive seen it, the visceral conduct from locals is rife. I originate 3 miles down the road and steer from pubs because your father didnt own xyz on said street. I love Cornwall, but come the fuxk along. 🤦🤷
My home, I love it.
I went to St Agnes Primary School when it was in British Rd.
Is it true that you have to go to St. Mary's in secondary school?
