Can we talk about the angle of the dangle on Tim's package for a moment? I notice the front is a little more erect on Tim's bush package compared to the 10 degree hang on the longer, more refined package. Does the hang down cost more money or is your bush package just not long enough to be less erect? Curious minds want to know

A lot of the budget minded purchasers of Bear have been buying the Alaskan XT. Between all my bills I can never seem to spend more than $800 for a set up. I always have to sell my older bows to help afford the upgrades. I love salivating over the high end bows as much as anyone but Bear helps me stay close to industry tech while staying under budget so I know guys like me really appreciate you guys reviewing these lesser $ bows.
Set aside $50 per paycheck. It may take a little to save, but it's easily obtainable that way.
You need to finish this series with budget arrows! MFJJs titanium inserts are definitely not “budget” 😂

Even better you use the Bear Alaskan, MFJJ using the Darton Consequence and Dan could hopefully bring another Sub $1000 setup, for 3D shoot off

I got my Alaskan XT a few weeks ago. I swapped out the string grubs with brass speed nocks in their place, and installed cat whisker string silencers between them. This alone quieted the bow and reduce vibration a lot. So, for my build:
Alaskan XT - $560
Trophy Ridge Hotwire sight - $135
Trophy Ridge Sync rest - $50
Pine Ridge 7/32" peep - $8
Front 8" stabilizer - $18
Backbar 6" stabilizer - $18
Stabilizer mounting bracket - $38
D-loop - pennies
Cat whiskers - pennies
4 dozen Easton Axis arrows that I procured from the archery shops where I worked over the years, and people were breaking them, and all I did was cut them down to my length for me - $12 for replacement HIT inserts.
Total - $802
(I actually paid cost for my 2 bows, since I freelance at the shop where I bought it. Not gonna say what I paid.)
I'm loving my Alaskan XT as well as my Whitetail Maxx. Bear has come a long way, and at the pricepoints they're set at, they can't be beat!

Got a bear species RTH last year $379 and got a buck with it first year bow hunting. Without knowing any better I love it and confidently shoot at target out to 50 yards. Would recommend to anyone with a low budget like me.
I'm enjoying the budget series. I hope you continue to make content using both the Darton and Bear. So many of us out here with limited budgets and not in the market for $2-3k (fully built) bows. Thanks and keep up the excellent work on your channel.

I’m using a back bar bracket from amazon that’s $25 and I’m very impressed with it it has front and rear quick release mounts and a option to run a down angle or not. Also you can run it with the front bar or separate. I’m running AAE hotrods 15 in front and 10 in the back. Awesome to see Dan on the channel and can’t wait to see the shoot off 🔥

How times have changed. $500 used to be expensive. With the starter packages from Bear and Diamond and the like one can still do pretty well with 500.

Good stuff. I just bought the Alaskan XT RTH. Going in this week to change out peep & tune it at our local Shop. I chose this Alaskan over the Adapt Plus & the Whitetail Maxx. But it was such a difficult decision. Balance, smooth draw, soft shooting, quite, quality for value. All these are excellent but the Alaskan XT just edged out the others. Thank you gents.
Loved the series I just wish you filmed the bear budget build video in somewhat similar weather as the Darton definitely gave the bear an advantage as well as the background coaching. Oh well still a great video and series can't wait to watch more.
Awesome content as always. IMO a great video idea incoming; give both you and Josh a certain budget and you guys must build the best USED market Bow build and make it a competetion. Either as a shootoff or simply who got the best value. Can do this multiples times with different budgets in the future.

I recommend the blackout epic NT it's identical to the bear paradigm minus the trophy Ridge parts for blackout parts and the blackout is 100.00 cheaper and the kick in the pants is that bear makes blackout
So I watched the 2 shootout videos that posted of these bows but it seemed like the weather played a large factor on the target results . Did Tim and MFJJ ever discuss which of the 2 $1000 bows they would go with if they had to use one for a hunt or if they could add any high end options they wanted to the bows would that change the bow they would choose? This series was great! Thank you so much for posting this!

Youve got me concinved on either the consequence or the alaskan xt. I am new to bows. I am 42. Plan to hunt deer. I had a browning compound when I was 14. Hunted deer on the family farm for 3 years. Havent shot since. Local shop telling me I would be happy with a elite basin. They say it is in the same category as the two you tested. Whats your thoughts on the elite basin?

The Achilles heel of mid price bows are typically strings and cables. I would have tried to fit that in the budget somewhere I think.

Budget hunting bow. I have never needed any stabs and a trophy ridge 3 pin sight will work great on that bow.

I’d be interested to know what procedure was used to correct the horizontal paper tear? Shim adjustment? I had the same issue with mine and made shim adjustment top and bottom.
Yessir, first a yoke adjustment.. then a shim
I tried that rest and ended up having to take off the rubber piece on the shaft. Wasn't able to get 100 percent clearance

Love your videos however the only thing that sucks is the fact that you cannot find an archery technician in the state of Ohio that even takes and puts the time and quality into setting up your rig like MF JJ at least not one I have found yet still trying to get help but too many boat technicians here seem to half-ass their job

I realise Australia has airways been behind the US with archery...
This is $1500 AUD and probably dearer because it's imported. We're at the point now where people think they can't hunt unless they drop that sorta money, minimum and that's keeping people out of hunting. Which is a shame because Australia has a tonne of animals legal to hunt 365 a year and let's be honest... a $350 compound, tuned up with a great shooter behind it is gonna do better than any bow 15+ years ago
